1982 Chevrolet Silverado C-20 Pickup on 2040-cars
Haverhill, Iowa, United States
This truck is a 1982 Chevy C20 Silverado Trailering Special that has a heavy GVW rating of 13,000 pounds. Its a regular cab pickup with an 8' box that is in great shape. The engine is a 454 CI V8 that recently had the cylinder heads refurbished with a new camshaft, lifters, valves, and pushrods installed. The transmission is a Turbo 400 that seems to shift perfectly and the rear gear is a 3:73 ratio. The truck is a little cold blooded like a typical carbureted engine, but runs and drives great. It has a nice set of ALCOA aluminum wheels too. This truck has less than 90,000 original miles and I have a log/note book dating back to the original owner showing that the odometer has not rolled over 100,000 miles. While there are some minor body blemishes that you could expect from a truck this age, it has definitely been taken care of. The interior is in pretty good shape with a single crack in the dash and a little wear on the inside door panels but overall very nice. The inside of the truck box is in nearly new condition as you can see in the photos. The A/C belt was previously removed so I image the A/C system needs some repair and the fuel gauge does not work for the passenger side tank (prob needs a sending unit or wiring repair) but works fine on the driver side tank. Even though the gauge does not work for the passenger tank, the switching valve does work so both tanks are functional. Please look carefully at the photos and more are available by request. More than happy to answer questions, please ask. No trades or payments. Listed locally so may come down before auction ends. $500 payment due within 24 hours of winning this auction, with the rest due when the vehicle is picked up. |

MotorWeek looks back at 1995 Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon
Sat, Jun 20 2015MotorWeek's Retro Review series gives us a nostalgic look back at some of the best sports cars and luxury sedans available in the 1980s and '90s. For its latest clip, the show shifts gears to remember the 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon. Similar to the success of crossovers today, SUVs were tallying big sales and making big money for automakers in the mid-'90s. The Tahoe and Yukon filled slots in the market as steps down from the larger Suburban. These twins weren't wanting for space, though, with plenty of room to haul around a family. MotorWeek came away generally impressed too, and called the models some "of the better riding sport utilities we've ever experienced." This review comes with some jazzy, electric guitar licks to enjoy in the background.
Take a close look at the guts of the Chevy Volt battery, powertrain
Sat, Aug 9 2014Just how intimate would you like to get with the powertrain in a Chevy Volt? If you're anything like YouTube user d55guy, then spending a half hour filming yourself taking apart the battery pack, motor, inverter and more for a look inside sounds like your idea of fun. After all, this way you get to see the cooling system, the heavy safety kill switch and count up the individual cells in the battery modules. Fun! Turns out, we also enjoy languidly paced Volt dissection video goodness, and we think you might want to see it as well. So, we've embedded two videos below and if you don't have a better understanding of how the Volt is put together after watching them, well, at least you can't say we never tried to show you anything. Given that what's really happening here is the organized 'destruction' of an expensive and potentially dangerous object, let's talk safety. There's a serious disclaimer at the beginning of the videos and on the YouTube description page, but we feel the need to repeat the gist of it here: do not try this at home. The creator of the video says he is a trained engineer and has been doing things like this "for the better part of a decade," so he apparently knows what he's doing. With that in mind, watch it all below. When you're done seeing the insides of a Volt powertrain up close, if you need more filmed EV dissection/destruction, check out this video designed for first responders approaching a damaged Tesla Model S. Chevy SS prototype spotted wearing Pontiac G8 clothes
Tue, 28 Aug 2012
Do not adjust your computer screen, you are not seeing the rebirth of the Pontiac brand. General Motors has chosen to use a G8 to disguise a test mule for the latest prototype of the forthcoming Chevrolet SS. The G8 was closely related to the Holden Commodore and Vauxhall VXR, the platform upon which the new Chevrolet performance model will be based. It should come as little surprise, then, that GM has opted to use the cladding from the former G8.
Thought the front clip of this mule is pure Pontiac, note the vents immediately behind the front wheel. That is a distinctive design hallmark of the Vauxhall VXR. Also note that this vehicle is right-hand drive, as the Holden and its Chevy counterpart will be very closely related. That likely includes potential drivetrains. The spy photos of this mule also reveal very wide rear tires, and rear wheels that do not match the fronts.
