This is my 1981 Chevy Luv truck. Because of too many projects I must sell this truck. I purchased this truck in jan 2013.I bought it from the second owner who was a Washington state resident and part time Arizona resident.I FLEW TO LAS VEGAS TO GET THIS TRUCK AND DROVE IT 1700 MILES HOME TO ILLINOIS!!!!! This truck defines reliable. I wanted a good solid original truck to restore and the west coast is the only place to get them. The previous owner told me he bought the truck from a senior couple in Arizona 8-10 years ago. He claims they were the original owners. The truck was sold new in Arkansas. It has spent the last 8-10 years in Arizona and Washington state. I have a clear Illinois title in my hand.It is a solid original truck. It does have a couple small rust issues. The yellow paint is original. On the left rear quarter panel there is a slight scrape(very light damage-pic, grocery cart?)and does have a couple small dings. It has a rust hole in a strange place. its in the pillar on the right side of the windshield near the roof(pic).I think that led to the rust hole in the very bottom of the right front fender. It has a small rust hole on the right side rocker panel under the door. The only other hole I could find is in the bed on the right side of the floor.it is very small its between the right rear wheel and the tailgate. All the other rust on this truck is surface rust. The left inside of the bed has a large amount of surface rust but no holes. The undercarriage is in great shape. very solid. no rust issues with frame at all. If I had time I would dismantle this truck and do a total restoration . Its a perfect candidate or you could just drive it. That covers the rust issues. It has a cracked windshield but I do have a brand new windshield that comes with it. The tires are decent. I did just put 1700 miles on them, has all the original hubcaps. The interior is ruff. It had a old cover on the seat. I took it off just to give a better view of the condition.. the seat is very wore needs recovered. I tore out the drivers side original rubber flooring(worn) to get a better look at the floorboards. They look terrific. It has a very old aftermarket cassette player. Dash is cracked. glove box door is there but not attached. I didn't include any pics of the motor in error. The motor is original. It has never been hacked up or had any kind of modifications. The jack is still all there in the original location. Previous owner recently replaced the altenator. Truck does have A/C but I have never tried to use it and bid as if it doesn't work.  The compressor is on the truck and it is hooked up. everything is there. Does have power steering. It does have the factory 2.2 litre diesel engine,5 spd manual p/s non working a/c

Since buying this truck and driving it halfway across the country. I have been using this truck to commute to work. 30 miles each way. I was disappointed to find out when I bought it that the ODOMETER DOES NOT WORK. It reads 140999 and stopped there . The previous owner said it quit on him and approximated the mileage at 144k. I have no way of documenting how many miles are on it  Please bid accordingly. If you are still reading you already understand the reliability of these trucks and I really think the mileage is a non factor. It does have a profound vibration at idle in the steering column. Sometimes when your turning corners the indicator lights in the dash come on.Its always had a slight electrical glitch since I got it but has never affected performance.

I have provided the best description I could of this truck. Im sure I could've missed a few things but I just wanted to give a honest description so there is no question when you are thinking about bidding.this truck is fun to drive and gets a lot of attention.i wish it was shiny and nice but ill leave that to you

Junkyard Gem: 1988 Chevrolet Spectrum Sport Coupe

Wed, Aug 23 2023

Before General Motors created the Geo brand for cars built or designed by its overseas partners, the Chevrolet Division put its badges on U.S.-market versions of the Toyota Corolla Sprinter, the Suzuki Cultus and the Isuzu Gemini. Those cars were known as the Nova, the Sprint and the Spectrum, and all became Geos starting with the 1989 model year. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of the last Chevy Spectrums ever sold, found in a Denver self-service yard a few months ago. Midway through 1988, the Chevrolet Spectrum abruptly became the Geo Spectrum and was assigned to the 1989 model year. This car was built in May 1988, making it one of the very last of the pre-Geo Spectrums. The Chevrolet/Geo Spectrum was available as a four-door sedan and as a three-door hatchback, from the 1985 through 1989 model years. For 1988 only, a Spectrum Sport Coupe package, featuring some trim upgrades and these rad decals, could be had on the hatchback. This car was essentially identical to its Isuzu-badged counterpart, the I-Mark. In 1988, the MSRP for the cheapest possible Chevy Spectrum hatchback (the stripped-down Spectrum Express) was $6,495, while its somewhat better-equipped I-Mark twin started at $7,439 (that's $17,128 and $19,617 in 2023 dollars). Meanwhile, the base Hyundai Excel hatchback listed at $5,295 and the Yugo GV cost a hilarious $4,199 ($13,963 and $10,941 in today's money). Power came from this 1.5-liter SOHC four-cylinder, rated at 70 horsepower. A turbocharged version with 110 horsepower was available as well. You could get an automatic transmission in the Spectrum, but this car has the base five-speed manual. This car didn't get the optional air conditioning, but at least it has the traditional Isuzu HVAC control icons featuring blow-dried hair and high-heeled dominatrix boots. Just over 170,000 miles on the odometer. Someone installed a pretty good (for the 1980s) Blaupunkt Charlotte CR148 cassette deck in the dash. This was a necessity if you wanted to enjoy full appreciation of the music of the era. The Spectrum is special! It's as slick as city rain. "I didn't spend a lot of money but with my Spectrum it looks like I did." Joe Isuzu mocked Toyota salesmen when pitching the I-Mark. As was nearly always the case during the 1980s, the JDM ads for the same car were much more fun. They should have recreated this commercial with Spectrums.

Autoblog's guilty pleasure cars

Tue, Mar 10 2015

Guilty pleasures are part of life – don't even try to pretend like you don't have one (or two, or six). In the non-automotive space, this could come down to that secret playlist in your iPhone of songs you'll only listen to when you're alone; or think of that one TV show you really do love, but won't admit to your friends. I've got plenty, and so do you. Going back to cars, here's a particularly juicy one for me: several years ago, I had a mad crush on the very last iteration of the Cadillac DTS. Oh yes, the front-wheel-drive, Northstar V8-powered sofa-on-wheels that was the last remaining shred of the elderly-swooning days of Cadillac's past. Every time I had the chance to drive one, I was secretly giddy. Don't hate me, okay? These days, the DTS is gone, but I've still got a mess of other cars that hold a special place in my heart. And in the spirit of camaraderie, I've asked my other Autoblog editors to tell me some of their guilty pleasure cars, as well – Seyth Miersma, as you can see above, has a few choice emotions to share about the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Read on to find out what cars make us secretly happy. Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG This decadent convertible is the epitome of the guilty pleasure. It's big, powerful, fairly heavy and it's richly appointed inside and out. It's a chocolate eclair with the three-pointed star on the hood. Given my druthers, I'd take the SL65 AMG, which delivers 621 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. That output is borderline absurd for this laid-back convertible. I don't care. You don't need dessert. Sometimes you just crave it. The SL line is about the feel you get on the road. The roof is open. The air, sun and engine sounds all embrace you. It's the same dynamic you could have experienced in a Mercedes a century ago, yet the SL gives you the most modern of luxuries. An Airscarf feature that warms my neck and shoulders through a vent embedded in the seat? Yes, please. Sure, it's an old-guy car. Mr. Burns and Lord Grantham are probably too young and hip for an SL65. I don't care. This is my guilty pleasure. Release the hounds. – Greg Migliore Senior Editor Ford Flex I drove my first Flex in 2009 when my mother let me borrow hers for the summer while I was away at college. The incredibly spacious interior made moving twice that summer a breeze, and the 200-mile trips up north were quite comfortable.

Weekly Recap: Chevy and Alfa plot comeback strategies

Sat, Jun 27 2015

Chevrolet and Alfa Romeo were two of the 20th Century's most iconic automotive brands. Chevy embodied America's post-war power and confidence. Alfa was the definition of the stylish Italian sports car. They reached halcyon heights in the 1950s and '60s, before declining precipitously amid new competition, changing consumer tastes, and uneven corporate management. Both say 2015 is the start of something better, and this week Chevy and Alfa laid out ambitious plans and showcased new cars that they hope will make them more relevant this year, and in the coming years. Each brand sits at its own crossroads, and their paths forward are as different as the Chevy Cruze and the Alfa Romeo Giulia. Chevy is still a sales beast, as evidenced by its volume of 4.8 million vehicles sold around the world last year. Chevy executives are fond of saying one of their cars is sold every seven seconds, which illustrates the strength and reach of a car brand that is the fourth largest in the world. "Make no mistake about it, we are a brand for the people," said General Motors North America president Alan Batey. But he wants consumers to want to buy a Chevy for its design and technology, not simply because it's affordable. That starts with all Chevys now featuring a distinctive a family look, with sporty cues from the Corvette or strong lines that riff on the Silverado pickup. "We want people to fall in lust with our cars," said Mike Pevovar, executive design director for Chevy passenger cars. "That initial emotional attraction has to be right on the exterior, and that's where form comes into play." Chevy is also loading up its cars, like the freshly unveiled 2016 Chevy Cruze, with technology to appeal to a younger crowd that prizes connectivity. The Cruze will offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with its MyLink infotainment system, and OnStar with 4G LTE and wifi. Seeking out younger buyers is also sound business practice: Millennials now outnumber Baby Boomers as the largest single age group in the United States. Younger buyers also can improve a brand's image, which is another area where Chevy would like to improve. Chevy ranks 82nd on Interbrand's Best Global Brand's list, behind 11 other automakers. Apple is No. 1. "We need our own variation of the Genius Bar," Batey said. 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia View 3 Photos Meanwhile, Alfa is in different shape.
