PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO BUY THIS VEHICLE. THANK YOU 1959 Chevy Apache Pickup You are looking at a mostly original 1959 Chevy Apache 3100 pickup. It is a short bed. This truck came from Arkansas this year. This truck has a nice 235 c.i. inline 6 cylinder motor that runs and sounds great. It has the higher compression "848" head which was an option on these trucks. Good oil pressure and no cooling issues. I do not see any water, oil or transmission leaks. It has the 3-speed transmission with the floor shifter (column shaft and dog ears are still there if you would like to change it back to column shift). It still has the starter on the floor. This truck has been changed over to a 12 volt system. Electric wipers have been installed and work well. All gauges work except for the speedometer (we will try to get this fixed before the end of auction). Fuel tank has been removed from behind the seat and an aluminum fuel cell with guage has been installed in the bed. Bed is textured plate steel. The body on this truck is very straight and solid. Paint is in very nice condition with only a few scratches on the rear bumper. There is a very small door ding on the passenger side door which is almost unnoticeable with no chipping of paint(see picture). Cab corners are good. As you can see the step wells are very solid as are the door hinge pockets. Doors do not sag and they open and close properly. Door handles and window cranks all work as they should. Glass is in good shape with the exception of some typical delamination of the vent glass. There is some pitting in the front bumper but overall it looks pretty good. The only real flow in the body is some pitting on the bottom part of a rear fender. It is not visible unless you get underneath. We have just installed new carpet over very solid floor pans and have had the seat professionally reupholstered. Clean title in hand. Autoblog's guilty pleasure cars
Tue, Mar 10 2015Guilty pleasures are part of life – don't even try to pretend like you don't have one (or two, or six). In the non-automotive space, this could come down to that secret playlist in your iPhone of songs you'll only listen to when you're alone; or think of that one TV show you really do love, but won't admit to your friends. I've got plenty, and so do you. Going back to cars, here's a particularly juicy one for me: several years ago, I had a mad crush on the very last iteration of the Cadillac DTS. Oh yes, the front-wheel-drive, Northstar V8-powered sofa-on-wheels that was the last remaining shred of the elderly-swooning days of Cadillac's past. Every time I had the chance to drive one, I was secretly giddy. Don't hate me, okay? These days, the DTS is gone, but I've still got a mess of other cars that hold a special place in my heart. And in the spirit of camaraderie, I've asked my other Autoblog editors to tell me some of their guilty pleasure cars, as well – Seyth Miersma, as you can see above, has a few choice emotions to share about the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Read on to find out what cars make us secretly happy. Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG This decadent convertible is the epitome of the guilty pleasure. It's big, powerful, fairly heavy and it's richly appointed inside and out. It's a chocolate eclair with the three-pointed star on the hood. Given my druthers, I'd take the SL65 AMG, which delivers 621 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. That output is borderline absurd for this laid-back convertible. I don't care. You don't need dessert. Sometimes you just crave it. The SL line is about the feel you get on the road. The roof is open. The air, sun and engine sounds all embrace you. It's the same dynamic you could have experienced in a Mercedes a century ago, yet the SL gives you the most modern of luxuries. An Airscarf feature that warms my neck and shoulders through a vent embedded in the seat? Yes, please. Sure, it's an old-guy car. Mr. Burns and Lord Grantham are probably too young and hip for an SL65. I don't care. This is my guilty pleasure. Hot air balloons caught in high winds drag fullsize SUV
Mon, Jul 20 2015A sudden storm front whipped up enough wind to send some hot air balloons flying into the air in Wisconsin over the weekend. One ballon proved so energetic that it was able to drag a fullsize SUV across a field and into a stand of tents. The freak accident occurred at Balloonfest in Waterford, Wisconsin. Spectators were horrified as balloons dragged handlers to the ground and launched with terrified pilots clinging to their baskets. Organizers had started packing up the colorful balloons due to ominous storm clouds when the wind kicked up. "Happened just like that; it was crazy," Nathan Fricke, crew member, told Fox 6. Winds were clocked at 40 to 50 miles per hour. A balloon caught in the wind dragged a large SUV (we think a Suburban or Yukon XL) hundreds of feet and into a cluster of tents on the edge of the staging area where balloons were on display for festival goers.
