Seldom does an unmolested original 60 year old truck of this outstanding condition become available on the market. This year of Chevrolet truck is the most sought after of the 47-54 GM trucks due to several body and mechanical changes that makes them more appealing and desirable to a truck enthusiast. These changes are as follows to name only a few:

The first year for one piece curved windshield.  In 1954, the ever popular and reliable high oil pressure Blue Flame 235 cubic inch six cylinder engine known as the "Cast Iron Wonder" engine was made standard in light duty trucks for the first time in 1954.  Upgraded dash instruments and deluxe interior options, first ever Hydra-Matic automatic transmission was available in the Chevy  truck in 1954 as well.

A very straight body with minimal rust or body damage.  Has great patina for those who wish to leave it original.  Truck does not run and has set for many years.  Engine is locked up and will not turn over.  This fine example of American truck history belongs to my brother who does not have an Ebay account and I'm listing it for him under my Ebay account.  If you have additional questions, please contact Henry the owner at 1-620-482-4405.

Please remember this is a "PUBLIC AUCTION".  As with all public auctions, the reserve price is not made public.  Due to the interest these trucks generate on Ebay, we want to be fair to all interested parties who wish to bid on this truck. Disclosing the reserve price to those who would ask would be unethical as well as give them an "unfair advantage" over other bidders who wish to bid on it. It also holds down the bids if the reserve is made public. Please just bid what you feel this truck is worth and wait to see if you have won this auction.  What you see in the pictures is what you get, there are no warranties expressed or implied.

If you have negative feedback or feedback less than 25, please contact us prior to bidding so that your bid will not be canceled. Only serious bidders please.  Please remember that your Ebay bid is a legal contract to purchase should you be the high bidder.

MECHANICAL CONDITION:  Not presently running nor has it ran for several years. Has what looks to be the original long life 235 six cylinder engine with original 4 speed transmission.  Please notice in the pictures the very rare "Stewart Warner" Throttle Governor.  This rare aftermarket option was installed back in the day to limit the speed this truck could be driven and to reduce stress on the engine. This rare aftermarket option gives strong evidence of the easy life this truck appears to have enjoyed.  This along with the excellent condition of the body, it seems this truck was always well cared for and perhaps never abused as many trucks of this era.  Original 16 inch GM steel wheels and bias belted tires of that era. The spare tire looks as though it "could possibly" be the original spare tire that GM supplied, but not guaranteed as the original. Has all five of the original GM deluxe stainless hub caps and hard to find original GM trim rings.  How many trucks this old have the original hub caps and trim rings still in place???

BODY CONDITION: As with any truck of this age, you can expect a few bumps and minor scratches. Truck has what most would say is minor damage for its age and confined mostly to running boards and right cowl dent as the biggest areas of damage ( see pictures ). Over all an excellent body that is 100% complete.  Body alignment is very good. All glass is good with no broken or cracked glass. Was originally the popular factory Juniper green color. Left lower cab corner shows evidence of some rust issues due to a few bubbles in paint (see pictures) as well as the paint has a few bubbles at the bottom of cowl on left side.  Entire floor board area and right cab corner are very solid and free of rust. The bed side panels have limited rust due to dirt collecting over the years in front of the box and not draining properly.  Paper feed sacks on seat in picture is for sun protection to the seat area.  All stainless trim on cab is in good condition with only minor imperfections. Dash is excellent and uncut.  The mileage on the odometer (see picture) is believed to be correct mileage due to the overall condition, but is not guaranteed.

GM applies for LT5, LTX trademarks... are new small block variants coming?

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Recently discovered General Motors trademark applications for LT4, LT5, LT88 and LTX have observers wondering what kind of high-performance offerings could be on their way. A new LT4 would mark a return of the engine designation first used on the Corvette Grand Sport, SLP Pontiac Firehawk and SLP Chevrolet Camaro SS from 1996 and 1997. Supposition at Corvette Forum - which provided advance intel on the C7 like these leaked images - believes a new LT4 could go into the high-performance trim of the next-gen, 2015 Camaro that would be more powerful than the 580-horsepower Camaro ZL1.
Seeing an LT5 again would also be déjà vu - in its former life it was a 5.7-liter V8 for the C4 Corvette ZR-1 from 1990-1994 designed by Lotus, producing from 370 hp to 405 hp. A mix of rumor and hope is that the new LT5 will be a supercharged evolution of the 6.2-liter LT1 (pictured) placed in the new C7 Corvette, and that it will go into the C7 version of the ZR1 pumping out something like 700 hp.
The LTX trademark is, as with that last letter, a complete mystery. If the "X" isn't a generic way to denote the whole LT family, it's wondered if it LTX could refer to a crate motor offering like the LSX.

When you are not the one in charge of the purse strings, creativity is a must when trying to get the string-holder to bankroll that next shiny object you just can't live without.
When I was a kid, I decided that life wasn't worth living if it weren't in pursuit of owning a GMC Typhoon. My 12-year-old self crafted a fiscal strategy that, when combined with my offer of a 49-percent share of ownership in the car in return for my parents' contribution of 80-percent of the purchase price, would see me behind the wheel of a Typhoon by the time I hit college. They walked away from the negotiating table and, the economic climate of the 8th grade being what it was at the time, another partner wasn't found before the Typhoon was discontinued.
Roy El-Rayes, however, has succeeded where 12-year-old me failed, and he did it by using the sort of professionalism that only a PowerPoint presentation can provide, along with some humor and bold-faced flattery.

Pics Aplenty: Meet the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra [w/poll]

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

Today was a pretty big day for General Motors, debuting the all-new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra light-duty pickup trucks ahead of their official showcase at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. And now that the dust has settled at GM's big reveal event, we've had a chance to snap dozens of photos of the new pickup pair from every angle.
We already told you the important bits earlier today (click here in case you missed it), but let's recap. Under the hood are three new engines - a 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 (you know, a version of the small-block that'll also be found under the hood of the C7 Corvette), all mated to six-speed automatic transmissions. The 2014 model year marks the return of the Z71 off-road package with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and beefier underbody protection. Inside, there's a host of new technology and a greater focus on better quality and refinement.
Some of the nitty-gritty specifics (like engine output numbers and fuel economy) have yet to be revealed, and since we haven't driven the finished products yet, it's hard to say how these trucks will fare against rivals like the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150. For now, we can only judge these two books by their covers, and while we do like the designs of the new trucks, we Autoblog staffers are torn on exactly which one looks best.
