from the collection of DOWNTOWN DESOTO 1953 CHEVROLET SHORTBED FIVE WINDOW CAB ! with the "stove bolt" 6 cylinder engine BODY OFF RESTORATION ======================================= MOST COLLECTORS AGREE THAT THE MOST SOUGHT AFTER OF THE EARLY CHEVROLET TRUCKS IS THE 'ADVANCED DESIGN' SERIES PRODUCED FROM 1947 THROUGH 1953..MANY PREFER THE '53 SHORTBED 1/2 TON, AS THESE WERE THE MODELS EQUIPPED WITH VENT WING WINDOWS, TUBULAR SHOCK ABSORBERS AND PUSH BUTTON EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES. IN ADDITION OURS HAS THE LIGHTEST GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT RATING OF ANY OF THE 1953 CHEVY TRUCKS.. NOW, IF WE WERE FORCED TO DO THE MATH, THAT SOUNDS LIKE A PAYLOAD OF ONLY 1700 POUNDS MINUS THE WEIGHT OF THE PASSENGERS.. NOT EXACTLY HEAVY DUTY HAULING, IS IT ? OUR TRUCK IS ALSO EQUIPPED WITH THE MORE DESIRABLE, LIGHT DUTY 3 SPEED TRANSMISSION THAT IS LOCATED ON THE STEERING COLUMN.

WE SELECTED THE HIDE/AWAY SIGNALS THAT WERE MANUFACTURED RIGHT HERE IN CLINTON, MISSOURI. THEY ARE TOTALLY HIDDEN OUT OF SIGHT AND FEATURE A SMALL SINGLE POLE/DOUBLE THROW SWITCH. ONE OF THE PRECAUTIONS THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN BY THE OLD TRUCK BUYER IS IN REGARDS TO THE SERIAL NUMBER.. IN THE LATE 1940s AND EARLY 1950s, MANY STATES FOUGHT TENACIOUSLY TO THWART THE PROLIFIC MOTOR VEHICLE THIEVES.. LEGISLATORS IN SOME STATES DETERMINED THAT THE TRUE SEIRAL NUMBER SHOULD BE THE ONE THAT WAS STAMPED ON THE ENGINE, RATHER THAN THE NUMBER THAT WAS STAMPED ON THE EASILY REMOVED DOOR PLATE. THIS WORKED OUT FINE UNTIL THE OLD ENGINE WAS REPLACED AND THE SERIAL NUMBER BECAME DISCARDED. IT WAS SENT OUT IN THE SCRAP... NOW, YEARS LATER, THIS IS BECOMING AN INCREASINGLY SERIOUS PROBLEM, WITH TITLES TRANSFERRED THAT SHOW A SERIAL NUMBER THAT DOES NOT MATCH----ANYTHING.... Nissan Leaf has 2nd-best sales month ever, Chevy Volt does a 2013 repeat [UPDATE]
Tue, Apr 1 2014UPDATE: The official press release says that "Volt [sales were] up 7 percent," but Randy Fox let AutoblogGreen know that this is simply due to a change in the fleet/retail mix between March 2013 and 2014. The actual number sold was exactly the same in the two months. A month ago, Nissan's director of EV sales and marketing, Toby Perry, said he expected to see the Leaf's sales momentum continue into March. It wasn't a big leap, since January and February were slow sales months in 2013 (around 640 each) before a big climb to 2,200 in March. In 2014, the first two months of the year were better (around 1,300 each) but Nissan can still be happy that the Leaf just had the best March ever and its second-highest sales month ever, with 2,507 sold. That's a 12.1 percent increase from 2013 and Perry said in a statement to AutoblogGreen that one reason is all of the buyers who are becoming evangelists for the vehicle. "We've also seen an increase in showroom traffic as we enhanced our marketing presence in March," he said. Nissan pointed to cities like Washington, DC, Raleigh-Durham, NC and urban areas in Texas as strong Leaf markets last month. On the Chevy Volt front, January and February were also slow months in 2014, down roughly half from the 2,000-ish the plug-in hybrid was selling at the end of 2013. For 2014, sales were up slightly from the first two months of the year and Chevy spokesman Randy Fox told AutoblogGreen that the March number was "pretty flat, year-over-year." Even with that warning, we were surprised to see the total come in at 1,478. Why's that? Because the total for March 2013 was ... 1,478. So, yeah, that's pretty steady even if there were 26 selling days in March period this year compared to 27 last year. Chevrolet Camaros at SEMA are a mobile accessory catalog
Wed, 06 Nov 2013Chevy's goal at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas this week seems to be to show as much of its Performance and Accessories catalog as possible. That's why it brought three different Camaros - two with V8s and one powered by a V6 - with all of the best goodies from the catalog already fitted.
We gave a more in-depth recap of the Performance Camaro V8 Concept, the Performance Camaro V6 Concept and the Performance Garage Concept already, but we figured you'd like a short recap for each. It should be noted, though, that you can order all of the items you see here for your own Camaro, so be sure to take a long, hard look at our live galleries, just in case you're in the market for some mods.
Essentially, the Performance Garage Concept and the Performance V8 Concept are the same car - the only difference is that the later features a whole host of aesthetic tweaks in addition to its aftermarket, shorty exhaust headers and 2.75-inch exhaust. (The Performance Garage Concept has been usefully placed on its side; the better to see the new parts added to the vehicle.) The Performance V6 Concept is notable because, despite being a V6, there's no shortage of performance goodies fitted. All three of the Performance Camaros benefit from items from the Camaro ZL1, which can also be ordered through the catalog.
