1951 Chevy 5 Window Sport Touring Truck. The restoration on this truck started almost 20 years ago, two different owners had worked on it before I purchased it. It has been quite a build! I can tell you what it took to finish it, before that I can tell you what I had to work with. In approx. 1994.....full frame off modification. 1978 Camaro Sport Coupe front suspension and rear end was added. Pink for the donor car is added with the paper work. The transformation was done professionally and is square! Cab was completely redone with new floor/foot boards. There is no rust on this truck. 10 years later it was painted and full restoration began. Not sure the the story after that, when I purchased it it was about half done. It had sat fot quite awhile, the paint was beautiful when it was done. After sitting...the paint does have some water stains, scratches, flaws, imperfections, and a  couple of dings. NOT show quality paint, but better than driver quality. It will  would not take much too make it show quality paint, I am just a builder not a painter. Dont get me wrong this truck ia beautifull. just trying to be accurate. Everything on this truck is new or rebuilt, I have been through just about every nut and bolt to check for complete accuracy! I have built many Hot Rods, and many of these trucks. My focus on this truck was on being safe and comfortability having reliability along with performance! So ....on that note. This truck is being offered for sale the week of April 14-21 at KOOL APRIL NITES, in Redding, Ca. If there is a local offer on the truck I will take it off of eBay. I am going to list the major componets, it would take me forever to list all the parts, please note the best parts were used and when ever possible American! If you have further questions or comments you may email me or call me directly. Starting front to back.......

1978 Camaro front clip, all rebuilt, new heavy duty springs, shocks, big front disk brakes GM Camaro...all new or rebuilt...etc. etc.

406 SBC rebuilt with mild cam Eddlebrok manifold, carb, hot really a Hot Rod but it has plenty of power. Remember I built this to drive.....New aluminum radiator, back up electric fan, power stering, power brakes. Ac, all new engine componets, GM stock HEI. Dont know the horse power, it has plenty. Turbo 350 tranny, stock. Lokar everything.

Cab....All new wiring, gauges, interior, seats are out of a CTS Cadilac full power, all new every thing. tilt wheel, etc....etc....

Bed...all custom, frenched tail lights, aluminun gas tank, aluminun battery box, steel bed that you can accutually put stuff in. etc..

Rear end is out of the same 78 Camaro 8.5 10 bolt I belive 353 gears, new drum brakes, shocks etc..

Like I said everthing on the truck is new or rebuilt, no half assed bs.....You could not build this truck for the buy it now price, it has at least twice that much in it. So...please if you have any questions send me a email or call me direct.....Mark ......(530) 356-0762

GM program sees dealers taking on way more loaner cars

Wed, Dec 17 2014

Given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. Bring your car into the dealership for service, and you may need a loaner car in exchange. And with so many recalls being carried out, that means a lot of loaners – especially at General Motors dealerships. That could be one of the reasons why GM is massively expanding its loaner fleet program. While many Chevrolet and Buick-GMC dealerships have an on-site rental car location operated by a third party like Enterprise (which may or may not provide a GM vehicle), others manage their own loaner fleets. But while the range of dealerships operating such fleets was once small, reports Automotive News, the number has been growing rapidly: from the locations responsible for only 20 percent of those brands' sales two years ago to about 90 percent today. The impetus for that growth comes down to a massive expansion of GM's Courtesy Transportation Program. The initiative encourages dealers to ramp up their loaner fleet to a maximum size determined by GM, with a mix determined by the dealer itself, so that a showroom in Texas can be bolstered with a fleet of pickup trucks and a dealer in California can employ more Volt and Camaro Convertible loaners. The dealership gets a $500 credit for each vehicle its puts in its fleet, and can use those vehicles as loaners for service customers, as multi-day test drivers or to rent out separately. The vehicles remain in the dealer's fleet for 90 days or 7,500 miles, then they can be sold as used, but with new-car incentives. The dealer gets a fleet of loaners, customers get to use the loaners, try out a new car overnight or buy a barely used car with attractive incentives, and GM gets to clock more sales. But therein lies the kicker: the automaker counts the dispatch of the loaner new vehicle to the dealership as a new-car sale, which could end up distorting its sales figures. Counting loaner vehicles as sold vehicles is something of an industry-standard practice, but given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. One dealership - Paddock Chevrolet in Kenmore, NY, for example - had no loaner fleet two years ago, but now runs a fleet of 50 vehicles. Multiply that by the 4,000 or so dealers GM has across America and you're talking about the potential for hundreds of thousands of these sorts of sales.

Auto sales in March and first quarter down nearly across the board

Wed, Apr 3 2019

Nearly every major automaker reported weak U.S. sales for March and the first quarter of 2019, citing a rough start to the year, but said a robust economy and strong labor market should encourage consumers to buy more vehicles as 2019 rolls on. GM, which no longer releases monthly sales figures, saw first-quarter sales fall 7 percent, with declines across all brands. Sales of Silverado pickup trucks fell nearly 16 percent and the high-margin Chevy Suburban large SUV dropped 25 percent. Ford also no longer releases monthly sales numbers, but is due to release its first-quarter sales figures on Thursday. According to industry data, Ford's sales fell 2 percent in the quarter and 5 percent in March. Ford representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. FCA reported a 7 percent fall in U.S. sales in March and a 3 percent drop for the first quarter. All of FCA's brands dropped in March, except for Ram, which saw a 15 percent increase in pickup truck sales. "The industry had a tough first quarter, but with spring finally starting to show its face and continued strong economic indicators ... we are confident that new vehicle sales demand will strengthen going forward," FCA's U.S. head of sales, Reid Bigland, said in a statement. Toyota reported a 3.5 percent fall in U.S. sales in March and 5 percent for the first quarter, hurt by declining demand for its Corolla sedans and Camry vehicles. "While some of our competitors are abandoning sedans, we remain optimistic about the future of the segment," Toyota said in a statement. Nissan posted a 5.3 percent drop in sales in March, and its first-quarter sales were down 11.6 percent. Honda and Hyundai bucked the trend. Honda's U.S. sales rose 4.3 percent in March and 2 percent in the quarter, while Hyundai's were up 1.7 percent and 2.1 percent, respectively. Passenger-car sales suffered throughout the January-March quarter compared with the same period in 2018 as Americans continued to abandon them in favor of larger, more comfortable pickup trucks and SUVs, which are far more profitable for automakers. The battle for market share in the particularly lucrative large-pickup truck market intensified in the quarter, as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' Ram brand outsold the U.S.' No. 1 automaker General Motors' Chevrolet-brand trucks. The two automakers have both launched redesigned pickup trucks.

Personal testimonies show real-world effect of plugging in with Chevy Volt

Mon, Jan 13 2014

At this point, there are tens of thousands of individual stories about what it's like to live with a Chevrolet Volt. But it also remains informative to take a look at one of these in depth. For example, one Atlanta-area Volt owner says he's cut his cents-per-mile ownership costs by almost 40 percent compared to his previous car primarily because of his ability to drive almost all the time on electric power. Jeffrey Cohen told Clean Technica that he put about 14,000 miles on his Volt extended-range plug-in hybrid for the year that ended October 2013, and that more than 92 percent of those were on electrons. He estimates his "lifetime" miles per gallon rating at a whopping 384 mpg, a figure pushed upward by the fact that he installed a Level 2 charger at home while his employer added an external 110-volt charger at work. Cohen is spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents in his Infiniti M35. As a result, he's spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents a mile with his prior vehicle, an Infiniti M35. About two-thirds of those Volt costs are for the $349-a-month lease payments, while 15 percent is insurance, 11 percent is for the charger and seven percent for the gas and electricity that actually powers the car. Helping lower that last figure is an overnight electricity rate that's about 10 percent of Cohen's daytime rate. Chevy parent General Motors hopes such testimonies will re-trigger sales for the Volt in 2014. Last year, GM sold 23,094 Volts, down 1.6 percent from 2012. We expect our readers have similar stories they'd like to share in the Comments.
