1951 Chevrolet 3100 Stepside Half Ton Pickup Truck
The Perfect Driver
Offered for sale is an absolutely beautiful 1951 Chevrolet 3100 pickup truck. This Advance-Design truck is part of my personal collection and I will hate to see her go. I own several of these advance design trucks from the 50s and my intent is to restore them to original condition and to enjoy driving them around on the weekends. I am currently offering three of these trucks for sale because I'm simply running out of storage space and want others to enjoy them as much as I do. I love the restoration process and hope you appreciate my attention to original detail. Just look at the photos and you will see what I'm talking about. This is not a show truck, but it sure looks like one...it was restored to be driven by an old truck lover like you. I hope you like it as much as I do.
This nice old truck was restored in 2007, and is the perfect driver. It has a very strong 231 CID Thriftmaster engine and a 4 speed manual transmission with floor shifter. It is equipped with a "granny" gear like old tractors used to have. I start out in 2nd gear which is geared similar to 1st gear on a column-shifted three speed tranny. This truck has so much torque that it could pull a stump ot of the ground...which incidentally is exactly what it was designed to do.
Also included is a new oak bed with polished stainless steel hardware. I also like the side bed rails and whitewall tires, both of which give it a town & country feel. It's got new paint, trim and moldings and a new floor covering. Did I mention there's NO RUST and a clean undercarriage? I tried to stay as original with this beauty as I could, including the 6 volt electrical system. It starts right up with no smoke and the transmission shifts smoothly.
Everything works on this fine truck except the driver...I'm retired. But you could drive this truck every day to work and it wouldn't let you down. And you'd better get used to adding some time to your trips when you're in this one, because you'll spend lots of time talking to folks about what a great truck she is...inside and out, top to bottom.
This vehicle is available for inspection at my storage unit in Birmingham, Alabama. Please call Scott @ 615-594-8657 to set up an appointment or with any questions that you may have about this fine truck.
TERMS:
Payment will be made in full via wire transfer or certified funds with 72 hours of the end of the auction. A $500 non-refundable deposit is also required via PayPal. Worldwide delivery is also available. Please call for quotes.
Good Luck!

2014 Chevrolet Silverado tows in new configurator, microsite
Mon, 21 Jan 2013Judging by your continued enthusiastic response to configurator notices, dear reader, you enjoy speccing out new cars as much as we do. Better still, there tends to be even more ways to personalize, configure and bloat theoretical MSRPs on full-size trucks as there are with more ordinary passenger cars. In addition to trim level, engine and transmission choices, truck buyers usually have to specify items like cab configuration, bed length, number of driven axles, tow packages, gear ratios and all sorts of bits and bobs.
That's why we're pleased to see the DIY specification utility for the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado come alive so soon after this week's Detroit Auto Show debut. While the configurator lacks pricing (General Motors hasn't announced numbers yet) and full options, you can still spec out your half-ton rig, and even print it out or email it to your friends. Beyond the configurator, the new model-specific site is pretty cool, too, with various videos and closer looks at the truck's new features.
The new Chevrolet pickup range won't be on dealer lots until sometime this summer, so whether you're a building contractor, an avid sportsman or just a guy or gal that loves full-size trucks, you might want to check out the link below to keep your appetite whetted. If you're more of a Sierra fan, well, it looks like you're going to have to wait a while - GMC hasn't updated its site yet.
Europeans ask Chevy to bring Volt back to Europe
Fri, Aug 14 2015A group of French fans is asking for a jolt of support from General Motors to get the 2016 Chevrolet Volt across the pond. The Association Amperistes et Amis des Vehicules Rechargeables is running a Change.org petition that currently has 383 signatures out of a goal of 500. While the attempt is admirable, it's probably going to take a lot more than several hundred people for the model to make a return to the continent after the poor showing of the Opel Ampera – first-gen Volt's European cousin. The group's major argument for bringing a version of the second-gen Volt to Europe is that consumers need "an intermediate choice between expensive or range-limited pure electric cars and plug-in hybrids with a miserable electric range." Furthermore, such a vehicle would prod the competition to produce similarly efficient electrified models. They also lavish praise on the abilities of the Ampera for its long EV driving range. The supporters aren't entirely kind to GM in the petition, though, and claim the company excluded the original car from marketing efforts there. The Ampera actually enjoyed a strong European launch with more orders than initially expected and briefly topped the best-sellers list among EVs there. It was even named 2012 European Car of the Year. Those halcyon days didn't last long, and by 2014 sales fell off to a trickle. The waning reception caused GM's decision not to introduce a version of the new 2016 Volt there or in Australia. Related Video:
NHTSA closes 4-year GM investigation, issues common sense advisory [w/video]
Thu, Apr 9 2015Since January 2011, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been investigating a possible problem with corroding brake lines in General Motors' GMT800-platform models, like the Chevrolet Silverado and Suburban and GMC Sierra, in states with salt on their roads in the winter. However, as opposed to launching a full recall of millions of vehicles, the government is issuing a common-sense safety advisory to all drivers in snowy states to keep their vehicle's undercarriage clean. It even has a video explaining things. "Older-model vehicles, often driven in harsh conditions, are subject to corrosion over long periods of time, and we need owners to be vigilant about ensuring they, their passengers, and others on the roads are safe," said NHTSA Administrator Mark Rosekind in the announcement of the end of the investigation. The agency was clear in its report that "brake line corrosion seen in the GM vehicles was not unique," and the government "has not identified a defect that would initiate a recall order." Instead NHTSA is advising drivers, especially those of vehicles from before 2007, to wash their vehicle's undercarriage in the winter and spring to remove salt or other de-icing chemicals. It also recommends regular checks by a mechanic to make sure everything is in proper order. According to the investigation documents, for just the GMT800 platform models, NHTSA found 3,645 complaints of brake line corrosion, which included allegations of 107 crashes and 40 injuries. The issue was found to be more common in vehicles over 10 years old. GM has released a statement (embedded below) that the company "supports the consumer advisory from NHTSA urging regular maintenance and care of brake lines on older vehicles." NHTSA Closes Investigation into Brake-Line Failures NHTSA 13-15 Thursday, April 9, 2015 Agency issues safety advisory on preventing undercarriage corrosion WASHINGTON – The Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) today issued a Safety Advisory and consumer video encouraging owners of model year 2007 and older trucks, SUVs and passenger cars to inspect brake lines and thoroughly wash the underside of their vehicles to remove corrosive salt after the long winter in order to prevent brake-line failures that increase the risk of a crash.
