1946 Chevrolet Hot Rod Rat Rod Truck Kustom 350 Small Block 350 Automatic Trans on 2040-cars
Grand Island, Nebraska, United States
1946 Chevrolet hot rod /rat rod pickup with a clear Nebraska 1946 Chevrolet 1/2 ton title. This is a fresh build with no expense spared. This truck was built on a new 2X3 tubing frame with a new Speedway 4-link rear suspension with coil overs and a Speedway drop axle front end with hair pin radius rods. The brakes are all new and rebuilt. The front are new Speedway disc setup. The rear are stock 9-inch drums that have new wheel cylinders, new shoes, and all new hardware. It has a new master cylinder from Speedway with residual pressure valves on both front and rear with a proportioning valve and all new hard lines and new rubber lines so it stops on a dime. The tires are new Coker Classic 3 inch www. The engine is a 350 four bolt main block that has been gone thru, with a slightly larger cam for that hot rod sound and topped off with an aluminum intake, a new Edelbrock carb with electric choke, and an HEI distributor to make it a maintenance free daily driver. The transmission is a turbo 350 that has been gone thru and resealed so it shifts great. The rear axle is a GM 10 bolt out of a 79 trans am with 2.56 gears - it will cruise down the highway no problem. It has new oil and was cleaned up, all brackets were removed and the new 4 link brackets were installed then it was finished in a black ceramic frame paint. The cab of the truck was chopped 3 inches, but was not channeled so the stock leg room was left intact. The roof of the truck was painted with a silver base then the gold lace and designs were applied along with the silver flake in the center panel. It received 4 coats of House of Colors Kandy Tangerine then two coats of orange pearl before the clear was applied. The bed is from a early 50s International pickup that was shortened and topped with a very nice cover wrapped in marine grade vinyl that will withstand the elements. The fuel tank is hidden under a hinged door and the ammo can in the bed holds the battery and a fuse panel. The taillights are 59 caddy the headlights are new from speedway. We retained enough of the original bed for that cooler so you can still bring your cold beer to those car shows. The radiator is a new BE Cool unit wrapped in an original model A shell. The interior is painted a tan color with a new fabricated bench seat, all new gauges, and a new B and M shifter. This is a very neat old truck that has only been shown once with very good reception from young and old alike. I'm sure I have forgotten a lot. if you have any Questions feel free to call me - Luke 3082580715. This vehicle is for sale localy and can be removed at any time befor it hits the reserve after that we will let the auction finish. 2014 Chevrolet SS makes its live debut
Sat, 16 Feb 2013Chevrolet showed off the new 2014 SS in an airport hangar last night, its first rear-wheel-drive performance sedan in the US since the Impala SS from 1997. We'll have more to say about the SS later today, but this is the sedan that Chevrolet sees as the final piece in restoring its performance credentials. For those of you looking for a manual transmission, however, that wish will go unfulfilled - at least for now: the only two options buyers will have are the color and whether or not they want a sunroof.
We'll work on getting some more angles (in better light) today at Daytona International Speedway, but with fans seeing the car for the first time, we don't hold out much luck of getting a clear shot. So for now, enjoy the high-res gallery above.
Electric Cadillac Lyriq, Chevy Bolt EUV and more GM electric cars are on the way
Wed, Mar 4 2020GM’s murky and somewhat secretive electric car plan is falling into place, as the company dumped a massive amount of information about whatÂ’s in the pipeline at an event at its Warren, Michigan campus today. New EVs are going to be popping up across the GM brand lineup, with new entries from Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC and Buick in progress. We also learned some big news about GMÂ’s new Ultium battery tech today, but check out this story for all of those nitty-gritty details. The electric vehicle onslaught will begin with the Cadillac Lyriq, an electric SUV thatÂ’s already been teased out. Naming it the Lyriq is the news today. No explanation for the name was provided, so weÂ’ll have to wait for April to learn more. GM didnÂ’t specifically say if the Lyriq would be launched at the NY Auto Show, but that show (assuming coronavirus doesnÂ’t cancel it) will begin on April 8 this year. Next up in the order of events is the GMC Hummer electric truck that we know will be launching on May 20. This truck will use GMÂ’s modular Ultium battery technology. However, the wait to buy a GMC Hummer will be a long one, as the truck isnÂ’t going to dive into production until fall 2021 at GMÂ’s Detroit-Hamtramck plant. GM revealed that its new modular Ultium batteries can be configured anywhere from a 50 kWh pack to a 200 kWh pack depending on the application. Range is estimated to be about 400 miles on the upper end with the largest battery pack, and GM continues to boast about a 0-60 mph acceleration time of three seconds. Charging estimates for the Ultium battery-equipped Hummer EV were also provided. GM says its truck platform will have 800-volt battery packs and be capable of 350 kW fast-charging. Time estimates werenÂ’t given, but those numbers suggest the truck will be a rapid charger. The Hummer truck on hand, which was the same that previously starred in GMC's Super Bowl spot, showed off removable roof panels that store in the frunk, as well as what appeared to be a version of GMC's Multi-Pro tailgate. It also featured sail panels on the sides, similar to those in front of the bed of the Chevy Avalanche. In addition to the Hummer, expect to see a couple Chevys launching. GM says the refreshed Bolt EV will be launched “in late 2020” with a refreshed interior and what appear to be thicker front seats.
Is your new-car warranty good at the race track?
Mon, Feb 27 2017We've all heard the horror stories. Your buddy knows a girl that was dating a guy whose best friend's brother once broke his brand-new, recently purchased performance car while making runs at a drag strip or laps at a track day, and the manufacturer wouldn't cover the repair under warranty. True story? Urban legend? Complete crap? Yes, no, maybe. One thing's for sure: Automotive warranties have always come with caveats. In 1908, an ad in the Trenton Evening Times clearly stated: "All Ford Cars Guaranteed for One Year." Although it changed over time, by 1925 the Ford New Car Guarantee only covered 90 days on material and 30 days on labor, and it clearly stated that that there was "No guarantee whatever on Fan Belts, Glass, Bulbs, Wiring, Transmission, Bands, Hose Connections, Commutator Shells, Rollers, Spark Plugs or Gaskets." Whether or not Ol' Henry would pay to fix your Model T if you broke it shaving a tenth off your lap time at the local board track seems to be lost to history. We're guessing no. But what about today? Do new-car warranties in 2017 cover cars when they are driven on race tracks? We researched the warranties of 14 auto brands to find out, and the answer is yes, no, maybe, depending on the brand, in some cases the model, and whether or not your car is modified from stock. Acura has been out of the high-performance car game for a number of years, but jumps back into the party in 2017 with its hybrid-powered $173,000 NSX supercar. And Acura's warranty, as well as Honda's, clearly states that it does not cover "the use of the vehicle in competition or racing events." View 33 Photos So we asked Sage Marie, Senior Manager of Public Relations for Honda and Acura. "If the car is stock, the warranty covers it on a track just as it does on the street. No question," he told us. "However, if the car is modified, say with slick tires or other components that would put higher stresses on the vehicle's parts and systems, then we would have to investigate the circumstances further." Marie went on to say the same would be true for any Acura model or Honda vehicle, including the new 2017 Honda Civic Si. This became a common theme. Chevrolet actually started this practice with the fifth-generation Camaro on the high-performance ZL1 and Z/28 models.
