Up for auction is a 1942 Vintage Chevrolet Pick-up truck.

Very UNIQUE/RARE find! In 1942 trucks for the consumer were only built in Jan. and Feb. After that time all trucks were built for WWII.

I bought this truck last fall and intended on putting on an S-10 chassis. After seeing how UNIQUE/RARE it was I decided to find a different truck to build. This truck was last driven in 1969 and has been stored inside since then.

The engine was loose so I performed a complete tune-up, replace fuel pump and cleaned carb (fired up and ran very well.) Currently running off auxilary fuel tank (tank should be flushed). Rebuilt master cylinder and all 4 wheel cylinders. Replaced rear brake shoes (fronts were at 70%). Also replaced all steel lines, as well as, hydraulic brake hoses. Installed new muffler.

This truck runs and drives GREAT! The speedometer even works! It still has original wiring. I would recommend installing a new wiring harness. The original seat frame is there but will need to be recovered. The rear glass is gone but the rest is in good shape. The truck does not have a tailgate.

As you can see in the PHOTOS and the VIDEO (be sure to hit arrow to PLAY), the body is in EXCELLENT CONDITION!

I have an up to date Numbers matching title in hand. And I DID look up the VIN to verify it's a 1942. VIN shows it is a Light duty 3/4 ton with 6-bolt wheels.

$500 non-refundable deposit required at auction end with remainder due within 7 days! NO EXCEPTIONS or truck will be re-listed.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to call Jim at 319-239-5238. All bidders with less than feedback of 10 should contact seller before bidding.

Thanks for looking and HAPPY BIDDING!

GM recalling 250,000 SUVs over door electronics

Mon, 20 Aug 2012

After a door-fire investigation that dates back to February, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially announced a recall today that affects around 250,000 General Motors SUVs for a faulty driver's door module. The recall applies to the Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender and Saab 9-7X from the 2006 and 2007 model years, as well as the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL for vehicles sold and/or registered in the Snow Belt.
Road salt use in these midwestern and northern states can lead to corrosion of the driver's door module on these GMT360 and GMT370 vehicles, which allows water to come in contact with the circuit board. If shorted out, the vehicle's power door locks and power windows will not work, and could possibly lead to overheating and, in some circumstances, a fire. No official word on how many total vehicles caught on fire, but back in June, 28 fires had been reported to the government agency. A fix for the problem is still being worked out, but all affected vehicle owners will be notified by GM.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.

First privately owned Corvette Stingray blitzes 1/4 mile in 12.23 at 114.88 mph

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

Chevrolet's latest road rocket, the Corvette Stingray, is a very quick car. If one needs further proof of that, we recommend they take a look at this video from Hennessey of what is claimed to be the first privately owned C7 Corvette to make a pass down the quarter mile. Not just any quarter mile, mind, this black C7 blitzed its way down the tuner's primary testing dragstrip. The Chevrolet ran the quarter in just 12.23 seconds at 114.88 miles per hour. That is a very quick time for a stock car.
Equipped with the Z51 package and a six-speed automatic transmission, not only does the C7 run a solid time, but it does so with little to no drama. That won't last though, as Hennessey will likely return it to its owner with far more power - we just hope they show a drag run of the completed product. Take a look below to watch the C7's 12.23-second run on video.
