PRO STREET NOVA MAGAZINE PROJECT ULTIMATE STREET MACHINE SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL
Here it is, perhaps the most intricate major magazine project car ever created. This was Super Chevy Magazine’s Saturday Night Special Nova. Featured prominently in multiple issues of the magazine and the center feature of a special book on Novas, published by the editors of Super Chevy and was created by the top professionals of the performance industry. This 1963 Nova SS has never been run and all the parts are as new. It started life as a showcase for Chris Alston’s Chassisworks’ then-new bolt-on front clip and evolved over the course of its build into a full tube chassis car with the very best that the industry had to offer. Its chassis cradles a blown 421-inch small-block Chevy built by Klein Racing Engines. (Made over 800 horsepower on pump gas!) It has all the top-of-the-line parts starting with a Bow-tie block and Dart Raised Runner heads and topped off by a fully polished BDS 8-71 supercharger with a pair of Vrbancic Brothers/Carb Shop blueprinted Holley 850cfm blower carbs. There's all the top internals coupled with a belt drive, Billet Fabrication oil pan, Titan billet oil pump, MSD 7AL ignition and custom headers. Backing up the powerplant is a dual-disc, fully adjustable Titan billet clutch; the same type used in the Alcohol cars. It is a state-of-the art piece and is housed in a fully approved Lakewood scattershield and connects to a legendary, never used 5-speed Lenco planetary transmission! Out back is a Chassisworks custom Fab 9 narrowed rearend fitted with Strange Engineering axles and aluminum center section. The rear suspension is all business with Koni aluminum coilover shocks, stainless four link with sway bar and wishbone track locator. The front end is all Chassisworks (stainless A-arms, aluminum rack, coilovers, forged spindles). Wilwood discs on all four corners and fully polished Weld Wheels billet five-star racing wheels get it rolling on massive Mickey Thompson rubber. There is so much more to this car that it would take a week to describe. The car deserves to be completed then DRIVEN. Everything is included. For more detailed description of the building of this project, do a Google search and there’s all you need to know. But please contact me via ebay mail and I will send you my contact information if you have any questions and want added images. The car has been kept in a climate-controlled environment and is ready for a new home. I will be happy to help arrange shipping to anywhere in the world at the buyer’s complete expense. This is the real deal (CLEAR TITLE IN MY POSSESSION) and would cost more than twice the price to duplicate -- without the history of course! |

Chevrolet donates 300 vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.
GM recalls Colorado, Canyon, and Malibu for airbag problem
Wed, Mar 9 2016The Basics: General Motors will recall and issue a stop sale on 1,740 total examples of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, Malibu, and GMC Canyon. This includes 1,579 units in the US and 161 in Canada. The Problem: The second stage of the driver front airbag inflator might not be present. If this happens, the airbag won't fill as quickly as it should in a high-speed crash, which could increase the risk of injury, according to Reuters. This is not related in any way to Takata's inflator problems, and these parts come from a different supplier. Injuries/Deaths: None reported. The Fix: GM will replace the vehicles' airbag assemblies. If You Own One: GM spokesperson Tom Wilkinson told Autoblog he wasn't specifically sure when recall repairs would begin but said it would be "shortly." He expects the fixes to happen "quickly" because of the small number of affected vehicles, and many of them are either in transport or already in dealer stock. More Information: GM recalled the 2015 Canyon and Colorado in 2014 for a completely separate airbag issue. In that case, a manufacturing error improperly wired the connectors. Related Video: GM Statement GM is recalling 1,579 MY 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Malibu vehicles in the United States and 161 in Canada to replace driver-side front airbags. The second stage of the airbag may not deploy properly in certain high-speed crashes. During a routine quality inspection, it was determined that a component required for a second-stage/high-output deployment was not loaded during the inflator build. Dealers will replace the driver-side front airbag assembly. There have been no reports of crashes or injuries related to this issue. This issue is unrelated to the ongoing Takata recalls.
Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 concept suggests a diesel off-road future
Thu, Nov 20 2014"It takes the Colorado to a whole new place." – Mark Reuss The Chevrolet Colorado looks set to gain a more capable off-road version, with the company previewing a potential design direction with a ruggedized concept Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Called the Colorado ZR2, the concept brings back the name used on off-road-tuned S-10 and Blazer models in the 1990s and 2000s. The ZR2 has a track that's four inches wider than the Colorado Z71, which is currently the line's most capable off-roader. The ZR2 is fitted with a new grille, power-dome hood, custom wheel flares and off-road-style fascia that reduces overhang and has flip-out aluminum tow hooks. It's all slathered in an outdoorsy hue dubbed Cyprus Green. The are electronic locking front and rear differentials, skid plates and mono-tube coilover shock absorbers. It all rolls (or crawls) on 275/65R18 off-road tires wrapped around custom 18-inch aluminum wheels. There's also a spare tire assembly mounted in the bed, which has a spray-in liner and 48-inch lift jack should things go afoul on the trail. "It takes the Colorado to a whole new place," Mark Reuss, General Motors executive vice president of global product development, said at the reveal. Power comes from the 2.8-liter Duramax diesel engine making 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. This engine will arrive later in the year in the production Colorado. While the ZR2 remains only a concept, it suggests a new path for the Colorado – one we hope Chevy decides to take. Chevrolet Introduces Colorado ZR2 Concept Aggressively styled, more capable and driven by new 2.8L Duramax diesel engine LOS ANGELES – Chevrolet today introduced the Colorado ZR2 concept – a vision of how Chevrolet could take the all-new midsize truck's off-road capability to the next level. It also showcases the new 2.8L Duramax diesel engine that will arrive in the Colorado lineup later next year. The aggressively styled concept builds on the capabilities of the production Colorado Z71 and advances the legacy of Chevrolet's previous ZR2 production models. "From the bold stance to the trail-ready special equipment, the Colorado ZR2 is all about the fun of driving where the pavement ends – and doing it in characteristic Chevy style," said Tony Johnson, Colorado marketing manager.
