406ci Sbc Nova Custom With Accel Superram Efi, Sportsman Bracket Drag Car on 2040-cars
Warner Robins, Georgia, United States
This is a 406ci powered 1979 Nova Custom garage kept drag car, that was raced in the footbrake and bracket racing classes. The 3215lb Nova runs VERY consistent flat 11.0 at 120mph. It is capable of quicker times with a more aggressive tune. It has a CompuCar nitrous kit installed but NEVER used if even quicker times is desired. The paint and body are in very good condition considering the year with cosmetic additions added; carpet, door seals, laundau top, and grill. The Nova was professionally built by Big T Automotive in Warner Robins with machine work done by Reeve's RPM Performance. The visible exterior modifications is a Classic Industries Billet Grill, fiberglass hood, trunk and bumpers. The rear fiberglass bumper does have damage from inattentive backing while it was on the trailer. It was not wrecked on the dragstrip. It is an EXCELLENT drag car that can be street driven (title available) for cruise nights with a electric water pump and fan providing cooling. At the dragstrip, it launches straight as if on rails and is easy to handle throughout the 1/4 mile. I can take the Nova out to Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds, GA or South GA Motorsports Park (SGMP) in Adel, GA if you need to see it run. Delivery is possible depending on location. Trailer with tool box and winch available. The 2014 Chevrolet SS sedan is for drivers who value performance above all else
Sat, 16 Feb 2013The car you see above is the 2014 Chevrolet SS, and it's important both because it is the first rear-wheel-drive performance sedan from Chevy in 17 years, and because it will be the nameplate the brand uses on NASCAR tracks all across the country starting this year.
Though it wears a name as American as baseball and apple pie, the machine was actually designed and built in Australia, sharing most of its parts with the brand-new VF-model Holden Commodore. That said, the basic chassis bits are shared with other Chevrolet models like the Camaro and Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle.
While Chevrolet is happy to sell a Malibu or Impala to anyone looking for a mainstream family sedan, but the SS is reserved for buyers interested first and foremost in performance. Most sedans sold these days are front-wheel drive, which is great for everyday driving and when the weather goes bad, but the SS is instead a rear-wheel-drive vehicle aimed at enthusiasts who love to drive and who prefer speed and performance above all else.

Next Chevy Silverado could get this built-in tailgate step
Thu, Feb 2 2017General Motors just received patent approval for a tailgate step in a pickup bed. And given the timing, don't be surprised if you see this on the upcoming 2019 Silverado pickup (not the mention its GMC Sierra twin), expected to arrive in late 2018. According to the patent, granted in December of last year, the whole mechanism is housed in the tailgate assemble. The magic happens when a portion of the top half of the tailgate swings down and a step folds out. There's also a handle that locks into position to help climb up into the bed. As trucks get bigger and taller over the years, it gets harder and harder to access the cargo bed. Ford's solution with the 2009 F-150 was a step that slides out from the end of the tailgate. Back then, Chevy made an ill-advised ad highlighting the feature for Ford. And while Howie Long mocked the F-150's "man step" Ford saw almost a third of its trucks with the option in the first year. The GM design seems to improve on Ford's idea as it appears to be wider and has a back to the lower step. That is, you don't have to worry about stepping through the ladder-rung design as on the F-150. Ford's tailgate step later spread to the F Super Duty, and other cargo access assists have proliferated through the truck world. On the most recent redesign, the Chevrolet Silverado took a trick from the Avalanche and added cutouts to the corners of the rear bumper that act as a foothold. Ford also offers a deployable side step, Chevrolet has running boards that scoot rearward with a kick of the boot, and Ram offers fixed wheel-to-wheel side rails. Nissan is in on the game too, with an optional folding step that tucks under the rear bumper. We don't expect Chevrolet to comment on when or if we'll see this feature in the showrooms. But given that engineers are already hard at work on the next Silverado and the timing of this patent lines right up with the new truck's development cycle, we'll be disappointed if this patent stays in the file cabinet.
