Up for sale is this really cool 1972 Chevrolet Nova ! It is an old vintage Hot Rod from the 70's. It has a strong 350 4 bolt main engine with an aluminum intake, Edelbrock carburetor, Hei distributor, Headders with smitty  dual exhaust and a chrome engine dress up kit. It has an automatic turbo 350 transmission and a 10 bolt differential. This car runs and drives quite smooth, however, it is NOT a fully restored car. It is a classic that will need paint and interior and little details here and there. This car has factory power steering and factory air conditioning. The compressor and hoses are gone, but all the important parts are there and in tact. This car is very complete. It is very important to have a complete car when you begin a restoration because it saves you time and money searching for parts!!! This car was originally a New Mexico car. It is currently in dry El Paso Texas. This makes this car pretty solid for its age. The truck is solid along with the bottom rocker panels and floor boards. This saves a ton of cash !!!! Most of you already know a southern car is virtually rust free, but you will find rust in ANY classic car, unless it was preserved in a bubble !!! This Nova has some rust spots in the outside upper quarter panels, and the bootom passenger side of the door and lower passenger fender.( Most novas are prone to get rust from this area) The windshield is new and the tires are semi-new. The frame is straight and all the doors, fenders, hood and trunk are the original to the car. This is a very good thing, because you know that this car was not pieced together from 10 different Novas !!! All in all, this is a great car for a great price. I personally do not like the interior or color, but you can make it your own! I have described this car to you to the best of my knowledge. You are more than welcome to have Ebay inspect the car. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due upfront. Please offer only if you are a serious  buyer. This car is sold as a project,in as is condition. Please call Jacob at 915-630-2034 if you have any questions or concerns. I will answer all calls. Thanks for looking and good luck !!

Next-gen Chevy Volt will get 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine

Tue, Oct 28 2014

As General Motors gets ready to unveil the new Chevy Volt at the Detroit Auto Show in January, it's starting to reveal a few more details about the updated plug-in hybrid. Today should be fruitful on that front, thanks to an event GM is hosting today that focuses on the new Volt, and we've just had the first bit of new: a bigger engine is coming. Since the beginning, the Volt has used a 1.4-liter, four-cylinder engine as a range extender when the battery runs dry. The second-generation model will instead get a slightly larger 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that will be built in Flint, MI. That's a step up from the various engines that have been a part of the 2016 Volt's rumored mills, everything from a 1.0-liter or 1.2-liter three-cylinder to a 2.0-liter turbo. The confirmation about the new 1.5-liter powerplant was found in Automotive News, where we also heard again that GM is going to start building the new Volt's electric drive unit in Detroit, moving production up from Mexico. We will have more information on the 2016 Chevy Volt later today.

Europeans ask Chevy to bring Volt back to Europe

Fri, Aug 14 2015

A group of French fans is asking for a jolt of support from General Motors to get the 2016 Chevrolet Volt across the pond. The Association Amperistes et Amis des Vehicules Rechargeables is running a Change.org petition that currently has 383 signatures out of a goal of 500. While the attempt is admirable, it's probably going to take a lot more than several hundred people for the model to make a return to the continent after the poor showing of the Opel Ampera – first-gen Volt's European cousin. The group's major argument for bringing a version of the second-gen Volt to Europe is that consumers need "an intermediate choice between expensive or range-limited pure electric cars and plug-in hybrids with a miserable electric range." Furthermore, such a vehicle would prod the competition to produce similarly efficient electrified models. They also lavish praise on the abilities of the Ampera for its long EV driving range. The supporters aren't entirely kind to GM in the petition, though, and claim the company excluded the original car from marketing efforts there. The Ampera actually enjoyed a strong European launch with more orders than initially expected and briefly topped the best-sellers list among EVs there. It was even named 2012 European Car of the Year. Those halcyon days didn't last long, and by 2014 sales fell off to a trickle. The waning reception caused GM's decision not to introduce a version of the new 2016 Volt there or in Australia. Related Video:

Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]

Tue, 05 Feb 2013

Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.
