Chevy Nova Yenko 427 SC Tribute, Rally Green, fully restored, fantastic car like new!

This is a wonderful, authentic recreation of a Yenko 427 SC Chevy Nova.  I own a restoration shop, and personally built this car for myself over the past year from the ground up with strict attention to detail and quality.  It is a fantastic vehicle that delivers the vibe, detail, and performance of the all-but-unobtainable big-block Chevy Yenko Nova Supercar.  The Yenko SC Nova has been rightly hailed as the most venerable street fighter ever produced, along with it's cousin the Motion Performance 3 Stage Nova.  They were so light, powerful, and fast they were scary... this one still is.  With only 36 originals built and authentic cars selling in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, this is a fun and affordable way to own one of the most iconic muscle car classics ever made. You could not build this car yourself for the price... it's an amazing car waiting for the right new owner.

The Yenko began life as an original, low-milage, rust-free car.  During the restoration process, all the front sheet metal was removed in order to detail the engine bay and subframe to factory as-new condition.  All the under hood components are new: Brackets, hoses, belts, pulleys, alternator, power steering pump, water pump, battery, regulator, etc. The radiator, heater box, and heater core are all new as well and are correct factory big block parts.  New fasteners were used throughout.  The inner fenders, firewall, radiator core support, etc. have all been fully restored as well.  Under the hood looks factory fresh and new.

The 1967 big block engine is fully rebuilt to approximately 425 horsepower. The block was hot tanked and magnafluxed to assure integrity, line bored and honed, new forged pistons, reconditioned factory steel rods and crank, and the rotating assembly balanced. New high performance bearings, cam, lifters, rev kit, rockers, oil pump, fuel pump, timing set, etc. The heads have been redone including high performance multi-angle valve job, new stem seals, and hardened seats for today's unleaded fuel.  The engine features correct vintage factory chrome valve covers, and an Edelbrock Air Gap intake with a new Holley 750 double-pumper carburetor on top.  A new MSD HEI ignition with big wires fires the air/fuel mixture, and factory HP cast iron exhaust manifolds are ported and gasket-matched handle the exhaust gast flow like headers, without the header hassle.   The engine has been detailed to include the proper 427 Yenko badging, and looks outstanding.

The Turbo 400 transmission has also been completely rebuilt including new pump, clutches, line set, shift kit, and converter.  The driveline was fabricated of heavy-duty thick wall tubing with factory yokes and heavy-duty U-joints to handle the power.

The engine and transmssion have under 500 miles on them since the build; I broke them in personally and the car runs flawlessly.

The engine sounds amazing with a very aggressive lope and exhaust tone . A beautiful new true dual 2 1/2" exhaust system featuring Flowmaster Series 40 mufflers and x-pipe crossover exits correctly out back behind the rear tires.  The exhaust system features mandrel bent tubing and the nicest welds you'll ever see.

The underside of the car is clean, with new brakes all around, custom multileaf rear springs, KYB gas shocks, and detailed front subframe and rear end.

The wheels are restored original 1969 American Racing Equipment Torq Thrusts 14 x 7's from wearing new BFG Radial T/A tires; 225/50/14 rears and 205/60/14 fronts for an aggressive, staggered stance.   The center caps feature the correct Yenko emblems as well!

The interior features new windshield, new factory optional sport steering wheel, new carpet, new seat upholstery including YSC-badged headrests, perfect dash pad, new headliner, new sail panels, new door panels, new sill plates, new package tray, new heater controls, bezel, levers, etc... the list goes on and on. What's not new has been removed, restored, and reinstalled; the interior looks like a new car.  Shifting duties for the fully-rebuilt Turbo 400 with shift kit and stall converter are handled by the factory column shifter for an authentic original look.  A set of auxiliary below-dash gauges monitor oil pressure, water temperature, and amps.

The body features all original sheet metal panels, massaged into near perfection.  The doors, fenders, hood, deck lid, etc. were all removed from the car, prepared for paint inside and out, and painted inside and out for a show finish.  The paint job is a high-end two-stage finish in factory Chevrolet Rally Green poly (metallic).  The paint job was done properly with removal of the existing original finish as appropriate, hammer-and-dolly bodywork, epoxy primer, high-build polyester primer, hand blocking of all panels, sealer, finish blocking, application of urethane base color coat, and application of three high-solids urethane clear coats.  After the paint cured, the entire car was wet-sanded by hand and the panels blocked flat, machine cut and polished, and finally hand glazed.  The paint job is beautiful and shines like a mirror.

All the small details are correct, including the Yenko YSC side stripes, hood stripes, and "YSC" headrest decals.  Yenko dealership fender and tail panel badges, 427 fender market lamp badges, 427 tail panel badge, Yenko engine decals, and Yenko wheel center cap emblems. This car is absolutely gorgeous from top to bottom.  Look at the reflection in the underside of the hood, deck lid, fenders, etc.  They are finished as finely as the exterior of the vehicle.

The trunk has been fully restored with correct black/blue spatter paint and looks showroom fresh.

The chrome trim is new, including new front and rear bumpers, new wheel lip moldings, new grill, headlamp bezels, eyebrow moldings, hood leading edge trim, marker lamps, parking lamps, tail lamps, headlights, emblems, antenna, etc.  The car pretty much appears showroom new inside, outside, under the hood, and in the trunk.

New weatherstripping has been installed, including door, trunk, and hood-to-cowl seals; new window felts and window wipers as well.

She runs and drives as good as she looks, with the amazing power and driving experience that only a built big-block can deliver.  Crisp tire-burning shifts, tight steering and cornering, effective braking.

This beautiful Yenko 427 SC Nova is a stunning tribute to one of the finest and rarest muscle cars ever made. I cut no corners, and spared no expense. Clear title in my name ready for transfer.  This is a rare opportunity to own a Yenko tribute done right... I see so many that miss the mark.  This car will deliver the complete, authentic Yenko Nova experience in all respects.  This car is going to make someone very, very happy.

GM isn't liable for punitive damages in ignition switch cases

Wed, Nov 20 2019

NEW YORK — A federal appeals court said General Motors is not liable for punitive damages over accidents that occurred after its 2009 bankruptcy and involved vehicles it produced earlier, including vehicles with faulty ignition switches. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said on Tuesday that the automaker did not agree to contractually assume liability for punitive damages as part of its federally-backed Chapter 11 reorganization. GM filed for bankruptcy in June 2009, and its best assets were transferred to a new Detroit-based company with the same name. The other assets and many liabilities stayed with "Old GM," which is also known as Motors Liquidation Co. Tuesday's 3-0 decision may help GM reduce its ultimate exposure in nationwide litigation over defective ignition switches in several Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn models. It is also a defeat for drivers involved in post-bankruptcy accidents, including those who collided with older GM vehicles driven by others, as well as their law firms. The ignition switch defect could cause engine stalls and keep airbags from deploying, and has been linked to 124 deaths. A lawyer for the drivers and their law firms did not immediately respond to requests for comment. GM had no comment. Circuit Judge Dennis Jacobs said GM's agreement to acquire assets "free and clear" of most liabilities excused it from punitive damages claims for Old GM's conduct. He also noted that the judge who oversaw the bankruptcy concluded that the new company could not be liable for claims that the "deeply insolvent" Old GM would never have paid. The decision upheld a May 2018 ruling by U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman in Manhattan, who oversees the ignition switch litigation. Drivers have sought a variety of damages in that litigation, including for declining resale values. GM has recalled more than 2.6 million vehicles since 2014 over ignition switch problems. It has also paid more than $2.6 billion in related penalties and settlements, including $900 million to settle a U.S. Department of Justice criminal case. The case is In re: Motors Liquidation Co, 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, No. 18-1940. Government/Legal Chevrolet Pontiac Saturn Safety gm ignition switch

2015 Chevy Spark will have lighter, smaller battery

Thu, May 15 2014

As General Motors gets ready to release the 2015 Chevy Spark EV, it is retooling the Brownstown Battery Assembly to build a new battery system for the chirpy little electric car. The new Spark will lose a few pounds and kWh from its lithium-ion pack, but it will keep all of it's performance specs. The current Spark EV uses a 21-kWh lithium-ion battery pack with bits made by A123 Systems (known as B456 Systems during bankruptcy). For the 2015 model, GM is going to build a 19-kWh battery system in-house that will use 192 LG Chem cells. Losing a bit of energy capacity means that the battery system for the 2015 Spark EV will be 86 pounds lighter but it will keep the EPA-rated 82-mile range and 119 MPGe. The 2015 Spark EV also keeps its $26,685 (plus destination) starting price from the 2014 model. The car will once again qualify for a federal tax credit of up to $7,500. LG Chem also supplies the cells for GM's other plug-in vehicles from its facility in Western Michigan. The Brownstown production line currently builds the battery packs for the Chevy Volt, the Opel Ampera and the Cadillac ELR. You can read our first drive of the 2014 Chevy Spark here. Brownstown Battery Assembly Expands Capabilities Will build battery system for 2015 Chevrolet Spark EV 2014-05-14 DETROIT – General Motors will bring all its electric vehicle battery building capabilities in-house with production of battery systems for the 2015 Chevrolet Spark EV at its battery assembly plant in Brownstown, Mich. "Using our in-house engineering and manufacturing expertise enabled us to deliver a battery system that is more efficient and lighter than the 2014 Spark EV without sacrificing range," said Larry Nitz, executive director of GM global transmission and electrification engineering. "Our successful working relationship with LG Chem has allowed us to deliver a new battery system for the Spark EV that helps us to better leverage our economies of scale." A newly designed battery system features an overall storage capacity of 19 kWh and uses 192 lithium ion cells. The cells are produced at LG Chem's plant in Holland, Mich. The battery system weight of 474 lbs. is 86 pounds lighter than the system in the 2014 Spark EV. The Spark EV battery is built on a dedicated production line at Brownstown, which also manufactures complete battery packs for the Chevrolet Volt, Opel Ampera and Cadillac ELR.

GM, UAW poaching Nissan workers in Tennessee

Tue, Sep 8 2015

General Motors and the United Auto Workers are going on a recruitment drive at the Spring Hill factory in Tennessee, and they're hoping to poach some skilled workers from Nissan's nearby plant in Smyrna, TN. The General and the union even bought a billboard advertising for industrial electricians near the Japanese automaker's facility, according to the Daily News Journal. The reason for the billboard was simple. "GM was short of electricians," said Tim Stannard, the president of the UAW local at Spring Hill, to the Daily News Journal. The factory currently builds the Chevrolet Equinox but has a contract to assemble the next generation of Ecotec engines and the Cadillac XT5, which replaces the SRX. Thanks to the $185-million deal, employment there is expected to double by May 2016, according to Stannard, with roughly 1,800 additional union jobs. Beyond just several billboards, GM has job postings online for the Spring Hill plant looking for workers with specific skills. There has already been some interest in the positions among Nissan employees, Stannard indicated. According to a recent study by the Center for Automotive Research, the average GM worker currently makes $58 an hour, including benefits. Comparatively, Nissan pays an average of $42 an hour with benefits. The General's number could change in the coming weeks because its contract with the UAW is about to expire, and higher wages are among the major negotiating points.
