Year:1971 Mileage:85222
Location:

Little Falls, Minnesota, United States

Little Falls, Minnesota, United States

I am selling my 1971 Nova SS.  This is one of the cleanest Nova’s you will find.  The car was originally sold at Purvis-Taylor Chevrolet in Crystal Springs Mississippi on February 2nd, 1971.  I have the original owner’s manual and a binder with the receipts documenting the Frame-off Restoration that was completed in 2006.  There is over $40,000 invested in the Frame-off Restoration and the car has been driven less than 1,500 miles since the restoration. The car was factory ordered with air conditioning and was also factory ordered with the rare radio delete option.  This car is in beautiful condition and has won multiple 1st place and Best of Show Awards.

Drivetrain:

The engine is not numbers matching.  It is a modern crate 350 with a 4 bolt main that has been stroked to a 383 with many upgrades.  It has high volume oil pump, steel crank, Jessell aluminum rods, Jessell high performance pistons, Pro-line aluminum heads, Pro-line aluminum intake, Barry Grant Demon Carburetor, MSD 6AL Ignition, new alternator, fully functional AC and Power Steering, 150 HP shot of Nitrous (Only been used for show purposes, has never been filled or ran through car) and a lot of chrome and polished parts.  The car has not been put on a Dyno but is estimated to be approximately 450 HP.

The transmission is a Richmond 5-speed backed by a Ram Heavy Duty clutch and Lakewood shatterproof bell housing.  Shifting the gears is done by a HURST shifter.

The exhaust begins with full length 3 inch Jet Coated headers that flow into Pypes Violator mufflers.  The exhaust exits in the factory location and is 3 inch from front to back.  This setup gives the car an amazing sound that you must hear in person.

The rear end is a Currie 9 inch with 3.73 gears, Posi, and heavy duty Currie 33 spline axles.  It has adjustable CAL-TRAC traction bars that have been installed along with sub-frame ties.

The brakes have been completely upgraded to 4 wheel BAER power disc brakes that are drilled and vented.

The wheels on this car are American Racing Torque Thrust II that are wrapped in Fuzion ZRI tires.  The fronts are 225/55/16 and the rears are 255/50/17.

Interior:

The interior is mostly original with the exception of front seat covers and carpet.  The headliner, dash pad, door panels and rear seat are all original and in excellent condition.  The front seats have been recovered and new carpet has been installed.  There are also new Chevrolet floor mats in the front and back.  All of the interior is in excellent condition there is no rips, cracks, or stains.  Everything works great including all the lights, gauges and switches.

Body:

This car retains all of its original sheet metal.  There is absolutely no rust anywhere on this car.  This car is laser straight and all factory seams line up excellent.  The doors, hood and trunk shut with ease just like new.  The original numbers are still stamped in the quarters.  The trunk is finished with factory speckle paint.  All of the chrome, glass and moldings are in excellent condition and have a brilliant shine to them.  The car is finished with a PPG base coat/clear coat Marina Blue paint that looks amazing.  The paint is laser straight and has amazing depth.

If you are looking for a car that you can take to shows, have fun driving, and be proud to own this is the car for you.  This car runs, drives, handles, and looks great.  It can be driven anywhere, and was part of the Power Tour in 2010.  The car is always stored in a climate controlled garage and is always covered with a custom fitted car cover (included with the car).  The car is only driven on nice days and has not seen rain or bad weather since the restoration.  The car is Frame-off Restored and no corners have been cut, everything was done right.  Everything on this car is in beautiful condition, including the underside which is as nice as the top.  The underside has been completely painted black and is in excellent condition.  I have done my best describing the car as accurately and detailed as possible, if you have any questions please feel free to contact me.  Also, if you would like any additional pictures of the car contact me and I can take them and send them to you.

Payment: A $1,000 non refundable payment is due within 48 hours of auction close.  The remaining balance is due within 7 days of auction close. Remaining balance must be paid by cash in person, or verified cashiers check or bank draft.

GM reintroduces Tripower name in the worst way possible

Wed, Aug 1 2018

The story of General Motors' use of the Tripower moniker begins way back in 1957, when Semon E. "Bunkie" Knudsen, then General Manager of GM's Pontiac division, directed his engineers to inject more performance into his brand's line of V8-powered automobiles. Fuel injection was an option, but hot rodders flocked instead to Tri-Power (marketed way back when with a hyphen), which grafted a trio of two-barrel Rochester carburetors onto a single intake manifold. A legend was born. And that legend was born of performance. At idle and when full power wasn't required, Pontiac's Tri-Power system used just the middle carburetor, which helped make the setup easier to tune. Depending on the year and model, either a vacuum system or a mechanical linkage opened up the two outer carbs, thereby switching from two barrels to six, and allowing the engine to take in more fuel and air. And it was an easy marketing win – six barrels is better than four barrels, right? Because performance! So, when news filtered in that GM has resurrected the Tripower name, those of us who grew up attending classic car shows and wrenching on old Pontiacs did a double-take. And then we all collectively sighed. Turns out that today's Tripower refers to a trio of fuel-saving measures that include cylinder deactivation, active thermal management, and intake valve lift control, according to Automotive News. And, at least for now, it applies to GM's line of fullsize trucks powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. We're all for saving fuel whenever possible. And we have zero say in how any automaker chooses to market its products and technologies. But, we'll offer our two cents anyway: Relaunching a storied name from the past is fine. Relaunching a storied name from the past while completely overlooking the reasons the name got famous in the first place is only going to irritate the people who remember the name in the first place. Couldn't they just call this new technology package something else? 2014 Chevy Cruze Diesel arrives with 42 mpg for $25,695*

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

The last time General Motors had a diesel passenger car in the US, it was the 1.8-liter 1986 Chevette. At the 2013 Chicago Auto Show today, GM is unveiling the much-anticipated 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel. The compact bows with a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine that boasts 148 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, with full twist coming on at just 2,000 rpm. What's more, the common-rail, direct-injection diesel features an overboost function that allows the engine to deliver up to 280 lb-ft of torque for 10 seconds at a time. Even with 10 more horsepower and 110 more pound-feet of torque than the available turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder in the Cruze, the 2.0-liter diesel engine can return up to 42 mpg (highway) bolted to its six-speed automatic transmission.
If you're counting, that figure meets the less powerful Cruze Eco with a six-speed manual transmission. More importantly, the auto transmission Cruze Diesel matches its main competition, the Volkswagen Jetta TDI, in highway fuel economy. The Cruze 2.0 TD (as it will be badged) can also handle up to 20 percent biodiesel (B20), whereas the Jetta is rated only for B5. General Motors has not released city fuel economy for its newest diesel, but we do know how much it will cost you to jump behind the driver's seat.
GM will kindly ask for $25,695, plus an $810 destination fee. That marks a $2,115 premium over a loaded Cruze LTZ Auto and $2,640 more than the Jetta TDI, though the MSRP will net you a leather interior, 17-inch alloy wheels and an Aero Performance Package, as well as a two-year maintenance plan and five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Compared to the gas-powered Cruze, you also lose a couple cubic feet of rear cargo space thanks to a 17-liter diesel emission fluid tank. That urea fluid, which helps put the clean in clean diesel, will need to be refilled at least every 10,000 miles.

GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title

Thu, 12 Sep 2013

General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.
