1970 Chevrolet Nova Base Coupe 2-door 7.4l Th400 Project on 2040-cars
Benton, Kentucky, United States
I have a 1970 Chevrolet Nova project for sale. I have the rebuild paperwork for the title, but haven't submitted it yet and am still in contact with the previous owner if more paperwork is needed to be signed to finish the Rebuilt Title process. With that out of the way, I have a good condition 1970 Nova for sale. Was originally a 307 with an Auto Column shift transmission. Someone has installed a manual trans pedal assembly and cut a hole in the floor pan for a manual transmission. I have a Th400 transmission with a TCI 2200 stall converter for it (used), and an almost complete 454 engine. No transmission crossmember or proper driveshaft for that transmission. I have a driveshaft that I will let go with it but am not sure it will work with trans and rear end. I am not sure about what rear end it has, as I have not been able to find any identification on it. It has drums all around on it.
It has two factory rally's in the back and two newer rally's in the front. I have a set of 15x7 wheels and tires that go with the car as well. As well as a B&M floor shifter with a TH350 cable, no TH400 cable to go with. No original seats for the car. I have to high back bucket seats that go with it. I believe they came out of a 1973 Grand Prix or similar GM car. The 454 engine has been disassembled and was just about to get rebuilt, but have too many projects going right now. I have the block (standard bore), crankshaft (standard rods and mains), stock pistons and rods, a set of good heads, factory 4 barrel manifold, factory rear dump exhaust manifolds, and a factory cam in the block. The bores and bearing journals are in great shape and would be ready to put back together if someone bought a rebuild kit for it. The front and rear subframes are in good shape and not rusted out. It will need a left rear quarter or fix the panel that is there. I have two good doors that go with the car. They just need to be changed out. There is body rust on the car, but it is a very solid builder and should be treated as such. Previous owner attempted sanding on the car years ago and created nothing but surface rust where he didn't prime back up. All the windows are there and in good shape. One of the other doors has good glass in it as well. Will need drivers side floor pan and passenger side front floor pan. Trunk is solid. Dash is in good shape, pad is cracked. Engine wiring harness is still intact and so is all other wiring. 454 Engine Block - 14015445. 2 Bolt Main 454 Heads - 6272292 Oval Port Heads I will post all the pics I am allowed and will get the cowl tag posted on here as well. If you have any questions or would like to come look at the car, send me your number to seanmmacgregor@aol.com and I will contact you. I can also text or email any desired photos to you. I want everyone to be completely informed on what I am selling so there are no surprises when you show up. Thank you and good luck. COWL TAG INFO - ST7011427WRN381930 TR 735 14 14 PNT 07C B 2 0147 |

Chevy's low-cost pedestrian avoidance to debut on 2016 Malibu
Tue, Jul 28 2015The mainstreaming of safety technologies that began on luxury vehicles will get a big boost from General Motors later this year. The General says it plans to offer 22 driver assistance systems across its product portfolio of 2016 models, starting with the redesigned Chevrolet Malibu - the one that we know will keep tabs on teenagers for the benefit of parents. Pedestrian avoidance will be another of its available options. Instead of kitting the sedan out with numerous and expensive radar arrays, the GM system uses the camera mounted next to the rearview mirror that is already used for the lane-keeping function. New software lets it detect pedestrians, and when it detects a potential collision with one, it can alert the driver and brake autonomously if the driver doesn't react. Eventually, engineers want to give it the ability to do the same with cyclists. Because it uses existing hardware updated with new code, GM says the application costs "a few hundred dollars." GM demonstrated the Front Pedestrian Braking preventing a crash with a dummy pedestrian at speeds up to 15 miles per hour. Automotive News reports that it will reduce the severity of impact up to 40 miles per hour, but "may not be of much use in collisions at higher speeds." That feature will also join the options list of the Cadillac CT6. The press release below has more on GM's driver tech soon on the way. Safety engineers will develop and test these and other safety technologies for products around the world at GM's new, 52-acre Active Safety Test Area at its Milford Proving Ground near Detroit. The $14 million facility officially opened Friday. "Our comprehensive safety strategy of helping customers before, during and after a crash continues," said Jeff Boyer, vice president of GM Global Vehicle Safety.
Watch the National Corvette Museum sinkhole being filled in by R/C cars
Sun, Jan 11 2015Okay, so not exactly cars, but Bobcats - but still quite cool. You might remember that the National Corvette Museum had that little divot that needed to be filled in. Turns out the construction firm of Scott, Murphy & Daniel doing the work is using two remote-controlled Bobcats to fill the sinkhole with "manufactured sand," which in this case is crushed limestone. It appears that the Bobcat company has offered remote operation since at least 2007 via a wireless transmitter that works up to 1,500 feet away. So yes, that means two SMD employees stand on the edge of the pit and flick joystick levers for hours at a time, one in charge of a Bobcat with a roller-compactor attachment, the other in charge of a Bobcat with a bucket. And that, to us, is a pretty good way to earn the daily bread. Check out the video above for the latest sinkhole update. Chevy working on production Impala Midnight Edition
Sat, Dec 13 2014To put together the Impala Blackout concept for SEMA, Chevrolet didn't need to go much further than its accessories catalog. The in-house connection is what could make it possible for Chevy to get a production version of the Blackout into dealers this model year, with its few bits of chrome trim and dark detailing on the 19-inch aluminum wheels set into an abyss of gloss black paint, black Bowtie, grille surround, rear spoiler and mirror caps. The interior is black leather, with stainless steel for the sill plates and pedals, and an 11-speaker Bose audio system, and it gets the optional 305-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6. The brand's marketing director for cars and crossovers, Steve Majoros, told Edmunds that it could come in late spring, and that it will be called "Midnight Edition." Majoros didn't give any indication of pricing or if the production car will be spec'd out like the concept. If you simply don't want to wait for late spring, you could work your DIY mojo by putting one together the same way Chevrolet did: give the accessories catalog a workout. Related Video:
