1969 Chevy Nova Yenko Clone Ls-1 Tremec 5-speed With 9 Inch Ford on 2040-cars
Fall River, Massachusetts, United States
Let's talk about this amazing, head-turning muscle car.
You are viewing a 1969 Chevy Nova Yenko Clone; not like any other. EXTERIOR We will begin with the beautiful Dupont Premier gold-pearl paint, which is laser straight, with custom made "carbon fiber" Yenko graphics. This Nova has new panels throughout including new fenders, quarters, trunk lid and a very expensive, lightweight aluminum hood. This Nova received a "No-Expense-Spared" rotisserie restoration. The exterior of the car received all new chrome and trim including bumpers, door handles, grill, vent window trim, etc. Topping off the exterior is a beautifully done vinyl top, which accents the black interior perfectly. With all classic cars that are street driven, there is always the risk of some nicks and scratches. This car is close to perfect with one nick at the corner of the trunk and quarter panel, which occurred before it even made it to the street. INTERIOR The interior has a custom-built roll bar with swing-out door bars, which are removable. These bars allow easy entering and exiting of the vehicle without having to climb over a bar. The roll bar is attached to the body and frame, which ties in the complete body; making it extremely tight. The interior received a new rug, custom black, leather seats and a custom upholstered rear seat to match. A 1970 vintage Corvette steering wheel was used for it's classic look. To monitor this beast, Autometer gauges with a custom console pod was used. An Alpine CD player and custom kick panel speakers were installed. Now for the fun part!!! The ENGINE & DRIVE TRAIN This Nova has an all-aluminum block LS-1 with ARP bolts. The heads were ported and polished Z06 243 castings. It has a Comps Cam 600 lift hydraulic roller cam with matching lifters and valve train; topping it off with a duel plane Chevy high performance intake and ignition kit. A 750 Holley HP carb maintains the fuel delivery. A custom-made motor plate mounts the alternator, power steering, and tension belt drive system. A custom-made aluminum air dam was made to incorporate the K&N air filter into the cowl induction hood. It has an aluminum radiator with a custom-made aluminum shroud with a Black Magic high flow fan assembly. Adjustable fuel regulator and braided lines with AN fittings were used throughout the car. TRANSMISSION The transmission is a TKO 500 with a McLeod bell housing with a McLeod twin disc race clutch, which is very expensive. The clutch is controlled by an after market hydraulic system, giving it a nice firm clutch pedal. REAR-END The rear end is a custom built 9 inch Ford, which has been shortened and back-braced for extra strength. The internals are from Moser engineering. It has 33 spline axels with 373 gears and a heavy duty spool. The rear-suspension is the awesome Calvert Caltrac Split Mono Leaf suspension system. It has adjustable Calvert bars with Billet aluminum, gold anodized shocks. The rear of the car has been mini-tubbed to accomodate for the "huge meats" under the rear of this car. These can be easily viewed in the pictures. FRONT SUSPENSION The front suspension has all new tie rods, drag link, idler arm, etc. The upper and lower control arms are tubular and powder-coated black. It has new 2 inch drop springs and shocks. This Nova also has four wheel Wilwood disc brakes making it "stop on a dime". EXHAUST SYSTEM The exhaust system starts with a set of Dyno-Tech big tube 1 7/8 ceramic coated long tube headers. A custom made aluminized 3 inch exhaust with Flow-Master big block mufflers was made to tuck up nicely into the body and exits perfectly behind the rear tires. For a really tough look! FUEL SYSTEM A shortened Rick's stainless steel gas tank with fuel injection in-tank pump was used. Braided fuel lines, AN fittings and a Aeromotive fuel filter, and a 750 HP Holley with a one inch Wilson's manifold Billet spacer were all installed. WHEELS AND TIRES This Nova rolls on Weld racing wheels with Mickey Thompson 325/50/15 in the rear on 10 inch rims. In the front are 15 x 5 Weld wheel skinnies with 165 R15 wide track radials. The rear tires are worn and in need of replacement. RECOGNITION AND AWARDS This car has won multiple trophies including several first place and 2 Best In Show, and won The Favorite 50 Award at a well known car show, Adirondack Nationals in Lake George, NY and is featured in their Souvenir Book, which is included in the pictures and included with the car. This Nova is very "streetable", FAST and extremely fun to drive. It has the race car look and sound with street car drivability. It is so streetable that my wife is going to miss being able to drive it to car shows and cruises and all the attention she gets while driving it. The engine runs with 40 PSi of oil pressure and water temperature does not exceed 190 no matter what the temperature is outside. This is a true street car. Please view all pictures carefully and read entire description. If you have any questions, I would prefer you call me at 774-930-7602 (DAVID) before placing any bids. Serious inquiries only. I have many more photos but could not list all of them as the photo limit was 24 pictures. This vehicle is also listed locally for sale and I reserve the right to remove this ad should the reserve be met outside of ebay. Thanks. The photos can not display the true beauty of this muscle car. The car is available for viewing in person for serious inquiries only. PLEASE NO TEST PILOTS OR TIRE KICKERS....THANKS! LOCAL PICK-UP ONLY... |

Junkyard Gem: 1988 Chevrolet Spectrum Sport Coupe
Wed, Aug 23 2023Before General Motors created the Geo brand for cars built or designed by its overseas partners, the Chevrolet Division put its badges on U.S.-market versions of the Toyota Corolla Sprinter, the Suzuki Cultus and the Isuzu Gemini. Those cars were known as the Nova, the Sprint and the Spectrum, and all became Geos starting with the 1989 model year. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of the last Chevy Spectrums ever sold, found in a Denver self-service yard a few months ago. Midway through 1988, the Chevrolet Spectrum abruptly became the Geo Spectrum and was assigned to the 1989 model year. This car was built in May 1988, making it one of the very last of the pre-Geo Spectrums. The Chevrolet/Geo Spectrum was available as a four-door sedan and as a three-door hatchback, from the 1985 through 1989 model years. For 1988 only, a Spectrum Sport Coupe package, featuring some trim upgrades and these rad decals, could be had on the hatchback. This car was essentially identical to its Isuzu-badged counterpart, the I-Mark. In 1988, the MSRP for the cheapest possible Chevy Spectrum hatchback (the stripped-down Spectrum Express) was $6,495, while its somewhat better-equipped I-Mark twin started at $7,439 (that's $17,128 and $19,617 in 2023 dollars). Meanwhile, the base Hyundai Excel hatchback listed at $5,295 and the Yugo GV cost a hilarious $4,199 ($13,963 and $10,941 in today's money). Power came from this 1.5-liter SOHC four-cylinder, rated at 70 horsepower. A turbocharged version with 110 horsepower was available as well. You could get an automatic transmission in the Spectrum, but this car has the base five-speed manual. This car didn't get the optional air conditioning, but at least it has the traditional Isuzu HVAC control icons featuring blow-dried hair and high-heeled dominatrix boots. Just over 170,000 miles on the odometer. Someone installed a pretty good (for the 1980s) Blaupunkt Charlotte CR148 cassette deck in the dash. This was a necessity if you wanted to enjoy full appreciation of the music of the era. The Spectrum is special! It's as slick as city rain. "I didn't spend a lot of money but with my Spectrum it looks like I did." Joe Isuzu mocked Toyota salesmen when pitching the I-Mark. As was nearly always the case during the 1980s, the JDM ads for the same car were much more fun. They should have recreated this commercial with Spectrums.
GM diesel pickups first to undergo extra EPA, CARB testing
Tue, Sep 29 2015The effects of Volkswagen's long-running diesel emissions evasion are starting to spill over to other automakers, but General Motors is taking things in stride. The 2.8-liter, four-cylinder Duramax in the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon is the first engine to get extra scrutiny by the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board, Automotive News reports. Rather than just the usual in-lab test, it's also being checked on the road. However, the extra evaluation shouldn't have any impact on when the trucks with his mill hit dealers later this fall. "We're in our final stages of the EPA certification, and our launch is on track," Chevy spokesperson Otie McKinley tells Autoblog. The four-cylinder diesel in the trucks makes 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and the automaker is touting low NOx production. In the announcement for the Colorado's specs, the company calls it "the cleanest diesel truck engine ever produced by General Motors." The tech includes exhaust gas recirculation to lower combustion temperatures and improve emissions. There's also a urea tank like on the bigger diesels for full-size trucks, and it gets refilled in time with oil changes. An indication on the instrument panel lets drivers know when that's needed, too. Even with the more demanding testing, the company doesn't seem too worried about the four-cylinder passing. "Part of our development process is on-road and off-road [laboratory] testing," Scott Yackley, Chevy Trucks assistant chief engineer, said to Automotive News. In the wake of the VW scandal, the EPA has pledged more rigorous testing. Before, on-road emissions evaluations were largely limited to heavy-duty vehicles, but the agency has decided to apply the checks more often to other models. There's also now greater cooperation with Canadian authorities.
GM trucks get hybrid versions, but you'll probably never see one
Thu, Feb 25 2016A few years ago, General Motors sold hybrid versions of its Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups. They weren't very good, using GM's old two-mode hybrid system that resulted in only negligible fuel economy gains. But GM's trying again, launching eAssist models of the 2016 Silverado and Sierra that are said to offer 2-mpg improvements in city, highway, and combined fuel economy ratings. Problem is, you probably won't be able to get one. Only 700 eAssist trucks will be made for the 2016 model year – 500 Silverados and 200 Sierras. When you consider that GM moved 824,683 examples of its light-duty pickups in 2015, this small run represents 0.08-percent of all Silverado/Sierra production, and GM says it "will monitor the market closely ... and adjust as appropriate moving forward." But that's not the only limitation. The eAssist trucks will only be sold through California dealers. For the Silverado, eAssist can only be optioned on the 1500 Crew Cab 1LT 2WD model, and for the Sierra, the fuel-saving technology is solely available on the 1500 SLT Crew Cab 2WD model with the SLT Premium Plus package. Granted, in terms of the Sierra, that means you get niceties like LED headlights and taillights, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bose premium audio, heated seats and steering wheel, lane keep assist, and more. In the trucks, eAssist combines a small electric motor and 0.45-kWh battery pack with the pickups' 5.3-liter V8. GM estimates total output of 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque – no more horsepower than the non-eAssist trucks, but three more pound-feet of torque. GM says the eAssist trucks can tow up to 9,400 pounds, and the battery only adds 100 pounds to the trucks' weight. The electric motor provides 13 hp and 44 lb-ft of torque for a boost of acceleration off the line, or during passing. It also allows the engine to run in four-cylinder mode for longer periods of time. eAssist uses regenerative braking to help power onboard electrical systems, and adds start/stop to the powertrain. Finally, the so-equipped trucks have a six-percent improvement in aerodynamics, thanks to a soft tonneau cover and active grille shutters in the front fascia. Great news is, the eAssist option is relatively inexpensive, only costing $500. But good luck getting your hands on one.
