I've decided to part with my '69 Nova I've been working on. I found this car as a legit barn find in northern California about an hour from my home. I knew as soon as I saw it, it was a perfect candidate for a build. It hasn't been on the road since 1983/84 and was very solid. It's a roller so no engine or trans. The car comes with almost a full set of trim and all of the glass except for the windshield. The window regulators are in excellent shape and fully functional. The glass is not cracked or delaminated. No front seat, but the rear bench is intact. The dash cluster is dirty but complete and has the controls for the heat/vents. The doors are extremely solid and have zero delfection in the hinges whatsoever. Other than shopping cart dents and door dings, the body is in original shape and currently in dark gray sealer after have been stripped with 120 grit. There is zero evidence or any noteworthy collision as the doors, hood, and trunk all retain crisp, original gaps. They all open and close perfectly. The hood gaps and latch are perfect. While there are many simple dents, the car will not require and further panel replacement and most importantly has NEVER had any bodywork or filler applied to it. What you see is exactly what is there. I have completed the following metal work:

New Goodmark full floor pans
New Goodmark rear tail lamp panel (original was cut for custom lamps-yeah)
New Goodmark right, lower quarter panel patch
New Goodmark upper dash panel at cowl
Left quarter patched over wheel arch (had two small bubbles)
-rt front inner fenderwell has typical battery damage. Needs replaced.

INCLUDED- is a CPP front discbrake kit which includes forged dropped spindles, calipers and bracets, dust shields, power booster, and master cylinder. The kit is used with approx 100 miles on it. It is vey clean, boxed and ready to install.

All panels have been etched primed at the seams and seam sealed with Kent 6000 products. The car is now completely rust free other than a small spot on the front edge of the hood and the rt fenderwell (batter acid damage). I had planned on a Goodmark hood to replace it. The trunk floor has some minimal discoloration and some very minor pitting, but does not justify a pan replacement. The roof had some small spots where corrosion had begun, but will not require anything more than metal to metal to make prefect. The car is originally a V8/auto/10 bolt car. The 8.2 10 bolt is still there as well as the multi leafs. A clear CA title is in hand and all fees are paid. The subframe in the car is in perfect shape. It doesn't have any scars from being towed or damaged. I don't think it's ever left the body. The car steers and rolls on 4 good rollers. It's the perfect builder to take from here. The dirty work is done. It's ready for body and paint! This is one of the best 68-72 Novas anywhere for a launch pad to build a pro touring, drag, copo, yenko, or SS L-78 car. I take the collector car hobby very seriously and only deal in what I feel are the best original cars I can get. I also take ebay seriously so please only bid as if you intend to buy. Thank you for looking and happy bidding. Please feel free to call me for any questions you ay have. 96-300-09 nine nine. Dave

Chevy Corvette Stingray picks up another award, this time from Automobile

Mon, 18 Nov 2013

The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has picked up another buff book accolade after capturing Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year award. The seventh-generation of America's sports car (sorry Viper, Mustang, et al.) has been named Automobile Magazine's Automobile of the Year.
Automobile's award to the Corvette over competitors is the mirror image of its rival Motor Trend, which named the Cadillac CTS its car of the year over the C7. The CTS was, according to the Automobile team, the closest contender to the mighty Stingray. Great news all around for General Motors it seems.
As for what pushed the Corvette past its distant, four-door cousin, Automobile commended its excellent, 6.2-liter V8 calling the car's performance "simply awesome" while also remarking that it is easier to drive fast than ever before thanks to steering and chassis tweaks. Following a theme set by other publications, there were also plaudits for the interior, of all things, with the buff book complimenting the car's ergonomics and material quality, while also praising the standard seats.

Chevy gets cracking on Cruze EV fleet testing

Chevrolet Cruze EV - Click above for high-res image gallery
The Chevrolet Volt hasn't yet gone on sale, but General Motors is looking at ways of expanding its electric vehicle lineup. Chevy, along with partner LG, is employing a group of all-electric cars in the form of the Cruze. The sedans are part of a demonstration fleet which is located in Seoul, South Korea and is being used to provide data in an electric vehicle research project. The goal is to gather information on driving patterns and charging behavior in addition to consumer acceptance.
The Cruze EVs, along with some Daewoo Lacetti Premieres EVs, are the first fleet of full-size electric vehicles and should provide invaluable information for The General. Staying full-size means not sacrificing cargo space, so the battery pack is mounted to the underbody, leaving the trunk area open for plenty recyclable, canvas grocery bags.

GM applies for LT5, LTX trademarks... are new small block variants coming?

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Recently discovered General Motors trademark applications for LT4, LT5, LT88 and LTX have observers wondering what kind of high-performance offerings could be on their way. A new LT4 would mark a return of the engine designation first used on the Corvette Grand Sport, SLP Pontiac Firehawk and SLP Chevrolet Camaro SS from 1996 and 1997. Supposition at Corvette Forum - which provided advance intel on the C7 like these leaked images - believes a new LT4 could go into the high-performance trim of the next-gen, 2015 Camaro that would be more powerful than the 580-horsepower Camaro ZL1.
Seeing an LT5 again would also be déjà vu - in its former life it was a 5.7-liter V8 for the C4 Corvette ZR-1 from 1990-1994 designed by Lotus, producing from 370 hp to 405 hp. A mix of rumor and hope is that the new LT5 will be a supercharged evolution of the 6.2-liter LT1 (pictured) placed in the new C7 Corvette, and that it will go into the C7 version of the ZR1 pumping out something like 700 hp.
The LTX trademark is, as with that last letter, a complete mystery. If the "X" isn't a generic way to denote the whole LT family, it's wondered if it LTX could refer to a crate motor offering like the LSX.
