1962 Chevy Ii Drag Car on 2040-cars
Star, Idaho, United States
You are bidding on a 1962 Chevy II drag car which could easily be made street legal although it would be quite scary. The all original steel body is laser straight. The quarter panels have been sectioned to accommodate the slicks while keeping the axle centered in the wheel opening. The power is supplied by a 436 small block (dyno says crowding 700 hp) outfitted with Brodix heads, Jesel shaft rockers, Comp cam, Edlebrock super victor and a 1050 Dominator. A JW glide w/ultra case and straight cut gears sends the power down to a narrowed Ford 9". Current ring and pinion is 4.88 to keep the times at 10 flat. A 4.56 or 4.30 rear gear drops the times into the low to mid 9's. The 4 link rear suspension, full MSD ignition, coated Lemons headers, B&M shifter, Pro-Comp gauges and custom 8" Continental converter (5800 stall) complete the package. The front end has double a-arms, coil overs, rack and pinion and big disc brakes. On the rear, once again disc brakes, two sets of rear tires included 12" Goodyear slicks and 14.50 M/T streets both mounted. For weight reduction the hood and trunk are fiberglass however the original metal parts are on sight and are included. There is a clear clean title. The car has a full cage NHRA certified to 8.50 with swing out driver's and passenger side bars. There is a delay box (never used) included for those who prefer to run the super pro classes. Much, much more included Also available is a 24' Pace American dual axle enclosed trailer. This can be incorporated as a package and or delivery deal. However this auction is for the car only and further discussion about the trailer can be discussed with the winning bidder.

Chevy shows much-improved 2014 Corvette interior in new video
Mon, 11 Feb 2013If you want a closer look at what went into designing and building the interior for the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, we've got just the thing. General Motors has released a new video detailing the cabin's evolution from conception to execution, complete with commentary from Ryan Vaughn, performance car interior design manager with Chevrolet. The quick clip details how manufacturing, engineering and design within General Motors worked together from the first sketches to ensure no compromises had to be made later down the line. How novel.
With plenty of hides traced with contrast stitching and available real carbon fiber trim, the cabin looks to be a few hundred miles ahead of the C6. Given how readily critics derided the previous generation for its cabin, the C7 should make writers work a little harder to find something to complain about. Check out the video below for yourself.
2016 Chevy Volt will not need premium gas
Wed, Oct 29 2014Buried in the new technical details of the 2016 Chevy Volt released yesterday was a throwaway line about a small but important change that's due to the new 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. The first-gen Volt has always required premium gas but the new powerplant will be happy burning plain old regular. The Volt's chief engineer, Andrew Farah, told AutoblogGreen that the change was due to today's Volt owners explaining they were not happy paying for top-shelf petroleum. "The ability to use regular unleaded was based directly on customer feedback," he said. "Since the range extender is an all-new engine, it was optimized to use regular unleaded at the outset. Using regular fuel will not have effect on vehicle acceleration or other performance factors." As Larry Nitz, GM's executive director of vehicle electrification, told AutoblogGreen yesterday, the new engine is more powerful and quieter than the outgoing 1.4-liter engine that's used in the current Volt. Fuel economy and EV range specs for the next-gen Volt are not expected until the full car is revealed at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
Reuss says GM diesel plans are still on pace
Fri, Oct 16 2015General Motors is not going to let Volkswagen's diesel emissions scandal ruin its plans for a new line of efficient, torquey oil-burners, the company's Executive Vice President Mark Reuss said at a recent press event. "No way," Reuss responded when asked about cancelling the upcoming diesel-powered Chevrolet Cruze and other vehicles. "The Cruze Diesel is too good not to do it." Slated for 2017, the compact is just the latest member of a diesel offensive that initially kicked off with the first Cruze Diesel and most recently saw the introduction of the oil-burning Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon. Reuss also reassured those in attendance that there was "no delay" in development of Cadillac's diesel lineup. Cadillac is working on a line of four- and six-cylinder turbodiesels for Europe. They'd make their way into the US market, too, eventually. "It's a question of timing," Reuss said, according to Car and Driver. Volkswagen's diesel emissions scandal has caused automakers across the globe to at least reanalyze their diesel strategy. Jaguar Land Rover, which is preparing several diesel-powered models for the US market, went on record late last month to reaffirm its commitment to diesel.
