2004 Chevy Monte Carlo LS 3.4L V6 Runs and drives like new. Excellent body, paint and interior. Passed NY State inspection last month. I bought this car for my son last month because his other car died and he needs to get to college. Can you believe he hates having a 2 door car? Back in my day a 4 door car was considered an "old man's" car. Everyone wanted a sporty 2 door car - now it's 4 doors - go figure! Anyway, I did locate his dream 4 door car, bur not before he registered, insured and drove this Monte Carlo over 1600 miles. CarFax documents that there was only the original owner (no accidents) and my son. Nice tires - new brakes - bring your mechanic and test drive it to your heart's content. It's a strong runner. Looks nice too! It does have a slight leak. I was told (and can see) it is anti-freeze coming from the top of the intake manifold. Once in a while it will leave a spot on the ground! Sometimes not. We have never had to add coolant, oil or and fluid for that matter since we've had it on the road. This leak is slight! Bid with confidence and drive it home! If we were keeping it we would have had it fixed. Cost is about $500.00 give or take. It's mostly labor and if you're handy, you can do it yourself. Apparently it's a common problem for the 3.4 V6 motor. Car is located in East Meadow on Long Island if you would like to see and road test it - it's still insured and registered. I will fax you the CarFax upon request. Any questions call 516-228-1016 and leave a message if I’m not in. Please don’t wait until the last day or last few hours to contact me. Please speak clearly.
I will pick you up at the airport, train or bus station. Winning bidder please leave a $300.00 non-refundable deposit in PayPal within 48 hours of the auctionclose. If I don't receive the deposit within the 48 hours I will relist the car. Please plan on picking this vehicle up within 15 days of the auction close unless you have made prior arrangements with me before bidding. As always, if the winning bidder is not happy after road test and examination, I will cancel the sale and refund $250.00 of your deposit. Attention “Phantom/No-Show” bidders – I do not entertain any second place bids and always relist the vehicle.
If your feedback is 1 or lower you must contact me prior to bidding. If you don’t contact me your bid will be cancelled and you will be blocked from further bidding. We will accept any and all trade-ins or will visit you to purchase any vehicle outright within a 50 mile radius of zip code 11554. Good luck and thanks for looking! |

GM reintroduces Tripower name in the worst way possible
Wed, Aug 1 2018The story of General Motors' use of the Tripower moniker begins way back in 1957, when Semon E. "Bunkie" Knudsen, then General Manager of GM's Pontiac division, directed his engineers to inject more performance into his brand's line of V8-powered automobiles. Fuel injection was an option, but hot rodders flocked instead to Tri-Power (marketed way back when with a hyphen), which grafted a trio of two-barrel Rochester carburetors onto a single intake manifold. A legend was born. And that legend was born of performance. At idle and when full power wasn't required, Pontiac's Tri-Power system used just the middle carburetor, which helped make the setup easier to tune. Depending on the year and model, either a vacuum system or a mechanical linkage opened up the two outer carbs, thereby switching from two barrels to six, and allowing the engine to take in more fuel and air. And it was an easy marketing win – six barrels is better than four barrels, right? Because performance! So, when news filtered in that GM has resurrected the Tripower name, those of us who grew up attending classic car shows and wrenching on old Pontiacs did a double-take. And then we all collectively sighed. Turns out that today's Tripower refers to a trio of fuel-saving measures that include cylinder deactivation, active thermal management, and intake valve lift control, according to Automotive News. And, at least for now, it applies to GM's line of fullsize trucks powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. We're all for saving fuel whenever possible. And we have zero say in how any automaker chooses to market its products and technologies. But, we'll offer our two cents anyway: Relaunching a storied name from the past is fine. Relaunching a storied name from the past while completely overlooking the reasons the name got famous in the first place is only going to irritate the people who remember the name in the first place. Couldn't they just call this new technology package something else? New Chevrolet Silverado to be revealed on Facebook on Thursday
Tue, 11 Dec 2012There's not much to see here, but if you're one of those waiting for the reveal of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, above is the teaser image that Chevrolet posted on its Facebook page. We've seen the truck in form-fitting camo before, and even less can be made out here beyond those seriously punchy Silverado-esque fenders and the knowledge that the projector-beam headlamps teased previously do indeed work. We'll have to wait until Thursday for a full perusal of the "bold exterior design" and "careful attention given to every detail" we've been promised.
Gathering intel and rumors, magnesium and aluminum contribute to the Silverado's weight loss plan, the purported "High Country" top-tier trim will contribute to luxury pickup truck competition and profit margins and the next-generation small-block V8 will contribute to improved fuel economy. On the engine note, there have been rumors of available V6 engines, and when Facebook user John Jones asked "Where's your answer to that EcoBoost Chevy?", the Bowtie replied "stay tuned on the 13th. We think you'll be pleased...".
Along with the "Raise the Bar" tag, Chevrolet says of the Silverado, "You asked, we delivered." You can watch the reveal live on Chevrolet's Facebook page at 9:30 am EST, this Thursday, December 13. The GMC Sierra 1500 will also be there, and we'll see both in person at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
Corvette Stingray designer lists five goals of new exterior shape
Fri, 12 Apr 2013Redesigning an icon is a difficult task, especially when you've got a blank sheet of paper in front of you and the all-new C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is intended to be your final objective.
General Motors has released a new short video featuring Kirk Bennion of the Corvette's exterior design team, talking about the challenges of sculpting Chevrolet's new flagship sports car and the five goals the team had to keep in mind as it worked. In the end, Bennion's team had the pleasure of seeing their hard work take center stage as the Corvette captured the world's eyes at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year.
