Houston, Texas, United States
1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Low Rider Rareopportunity to own a clean example of a piece of Americana. I could not get theblack Monte Carlo in the movie Training Day out of my head when I saw itand promised myself if that if I ever found one similar that I would own it;this is that car. I would consider it the brother of the car in the movie. Itis of the same body period and has the same period low rider cool, but has onemajor difference; high end stainless steel lined air bag suspension. This givesthe car a smooth ride and no jerk movement as it goes from the ground and backdown again. Training Day scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y69JxuGlje4 Some highlights are: · Carpainted less than 4 years ago · Rebuiltmotor · Transmissionfreshened · Stockalternator replaced with 280 AMP unit; draws normal use even with allaccessories · Smalleralternator pulley so no issues even at idle · 3Chrome Viair 480 compressors: 2 chrome 5 gallon tanks · Hard-linedwith stainless 1/2 inch tubing from the compressors to a custom manifold · Nickelplated Asco fast valves · Hiddenpressure switch and check valves · 2Mounted liquid filled gauges- set at 200 PSI · FBSSfour switch 1/2 inch setup · FrontBags: Slam Bags · RearBags: Firestone; which provided an extra 1 inch drop · ACSystem gone through; all duct work replaced. · FourKicker 6x9 speakers in rear deck lid · Two3 1/2" Kicker speakers up front · Kicker4 channel amplifier & Kicker 2 channel amplifier · TwoKicker 10" subwoofers · Wheelsare 14x7 OG's with matching painted nipples and hub · Chips/emblemsare a custom chrome plated 3D Chevy Bowtie design · Tiresare Fisk Classics The motor was completely rebuilt fromtop to bottom and transmission freshened up. Starts on a dime, smooth idle, nomisses and shifts well. Clean under the hood; even the hood courtesy lamp workswhen raised. Replaced stock alternator with a 280 amp unit to handle allelectrical accessories; audio system, Viair compressors, A/C and all standardamp draws from normal use. Alternator also has smaller pulley so there are noissues even when car is idling. Car was professionally bagged and the setupworks very well. This is not a kit that was just slammed in the car. Allcomponents chosen to seamlessly integrate with all the custom fabricatedone-off pieces you see in the photos. It is a FBSS four switch 1/2 inch setup. The 3 toggles between the switches on the plate control the compressorsindividually. You can turn them on and off during a cycle. Air ride system moved fast after everything was together. Sound dampeners were installed on thesystem exhaust to slow it down and so the dumps wouldn't be too loud. It stillmoves fast but just right. It cut the PSSSSSSS noise way down. 3 chrome Viair480's fill 2 chrome Viair 5 gallon tanks in about 1 1/2 minutes. I have hadmany air ride systems and would consider this fast. Hard-lined with stainless1/2 inch tubing from the compressors to a custom manifold. Pressure switch andcheck valves are hidden for a cleaner look. Two liquid-filled gauges aremounted and pressure switch is set at 200 psi. From the tanks to nickel-platedAsco fast valves. Slam bags on the front and Firestone bags in the rear. TheFirestones gave me a 1" extra drop. The compressors are mounted on acustom rack that was painted the same color as the car and 3D'ed with chromeplated accents on the bottom and both sides. There has been upwards of $15,000 worth of parts, labor, accessories, and customizations put into this ride. Mustsee in person to appreciate the time and work. Serious prospects feel free to reach me at 713.444.4088-Charles. I reserve the right to end auction early as vehicle is for sale locally. |

Conquest and controversy conclude the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona [spoilers]
Sun, 26 Jan 2014If you don't wish to know who won the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona, you should avert your eyes right now. We'll even give you a double-space to skedaddle...
For those of you still with us, the first race in the United SportsCar Championship (USCC) is done, but the discussions about it certainly won't end for a while. Daytona Prototypes claimed the first four overall places, the top spot taken by the No. 5 Action Express Coyote-Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi, Sebastien Bourdain and Burt Friselle. The 16th and final caution of the race bunched the field up for an eight-minute sprint to the flag, so the first place getter finished just 1.4 seconds ahead of the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Dallara-Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by Max Angelelli. Third place went to Brian Friselle in the No. 9 Action Express Chevrolet Corvette DP, 20 seconds down. Chevrolet power hasn't taken the overall win since 2003, eleven years later it scores a one-two-three-four. The No. 6 Muscle Milk/Pickett Racing ORECA-Nissan 03 scored fifth place, the top LMP2 finisher.
The Prototype Challenge class win went to the No. 54 CORE Autosport team of Colin Braun, Jon Bennett, Mark Wilkins and James Gue.
Valet mode captures joyride in red Corvette
Thu, Dec 18 2014A man in California is among the first to catch a valet behaving badly in his 2015 Corvette using a controversial built-in recording feature. Dan Cowles told KTLA 5 when he bought his dream car, a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, he opted for the Performance Data Recorder. The Corvette PDR uses a high-definition camera mounted in the windshield header, a microphone in the cabin and a GPS receiver that record and track the sports car's movements and sounds. They work together to produce a video with telemetry overlay, so you can see acceleration rates, lap times and g-forces. The system can be customized to show extensive performance data, or simply video of your drive like a traditional dash cam. It also comes with Valet Mode, which locks the glove box, disables entertainment and records video. The audio recording feature ran afoul of several state's recording consent laws, but this video has no audio, indicating the fix may have been as easy as turning off the microphone. Cowles dropped off his hot red 'Vette with the valets at the Segerstrom Center for the Performing Arts in Costa Mesa, CA. When he got his car back he checked the PDR and discovered footage of the valet taking a short, but intense, joyride in the garage. In the video, the valet finds a straightaway in a tiered parking garage and pushes the car to 50 miles per hour in five seconds before quickly stopping. He then parks the car without incident. The valet then gets out of the car and takes one more admiring look at the front. The valet company has yet to commented on the video, according to Fox News, but valets everywhere should be on notice; that little red Corvette you have your eye on may have its eyes on you. Porsche wins the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans
Sun, Jun 14 2015The question going into this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans was whether or not the Porsche 919 Hybrid would be able to combine its qualifying pace with race reliability. After battling neck-and-neck with Audi's R18 for most of the race, the answer is a resounding yes. Not only did Porsche drivers climb the first two spots on the podium, they did so without any major mishaps on track. This win is the first overall trophy for Porsche since 1998. Audi previously won the last five races, and 13 of the last 15. Corvette also returned to the winner's circle, with the No. 64 C7.R taking winning the GTE Pro division. The victory is the first class win for Corvette since 2011. KCMG won the LMP2 class in ninth overall. With 45 minutes to go the No. 98 Aston Martin crashed out of first place in GTE Amateur, giving the class win to SMP Racing's Ferrari and second place to the Patrick Dempsey Racing Porsche 911 RSR. For the full list of official results, click here. The GTE Pro class proved to be just as exciting as the P1 class, with a four-way battle for first after four hours into the race. For most of the race, the battle at the top went back and forth between the two German manufacturers. An tire puncture in the No. 7 Audi gave up the lead to Porsche, and moments later a crash forced the No. 8 into the garage. But a three-minute replacement of the front and rear bodywork kept the Audi in contention. As the race wore into the night, Porsche maintained a slightly faster pace than Audi. Nick Tandy took the lead on Lap 253 early Sunday morning, and car No. 19 never gave up the top position. The win is the first for all three drivers of the No. 19 – Nico Hulkenberg, Earl Bamber, and Nick Tandy. A lap behind in second was the No. 17 Porsche. The Audis fought reliability problems late in the race but still finished third with the No. 7 R18. The GTE Pro class proved to be just as exciting as the P1 class, with a four-way battle for first after four hours into the race. As the Aston Martin cars dropped away, the lone Corvette Racing entry took over, followed by a charging AF Corse team Ferrari 458 Italia. The Corvette and Ferrari continued to trade places in the final hours until gearbox trouble forced the No. 51 Ferrari out of contention. It was eventually passed by the other AF Corse car, No. 71. Nissan experienced all the pain of a first-year effort with its front-wheel-drive GT-R LM Nismo.
