up for sale is my 83 SS. I have enjoyed this car for the last 6 years and now its time to move on to the next project. I acquired this car from my EX wife's father, hence the reason I'm selling it. He had the car sitting in his "car barn" for roughly 13 years before I convinced him to part with it. I scraped a 1996 inspection sticker off it before it was inspected again in 2009.  It comes with 2 motors. The 350 that's in the car now and the original numbers matching 305. the stickers on the valve covers pictured say 327 because the motor came out of a 62 impala and was built to replicate the original 327. the 350 is 1974 with 1970 SB 400 heads giving it an 11:1 compression ratio. when I did the motor swap I used a lot of the 305 accessory parts on the 350 so I didn't cut any wires such as the carb, distributer, PS pump, fuel pump, alt, and took the rest of the wiring that I didn't need and zip tied and tucked aside do it can easily be brought back to original condition. I have a bin full of original parts I took off, such as smog pump, AC system, and such. this car is by no means "showroom condition" but its very solid for being 31 years old and body, frame, and interior all original. other than a little body work and a paint job, this car would be mint. frame and floor boards are great. as for the interior, it could use a cleaning. as like all other 80's cars, the headliner sags. The speedo doesn't work and as pictured, there is a small tear in the arm rest. when you actually see an '83 SS come up for sale with the mileage this has, there asking 10,000 to 13,000. I don't think I'm unreasonable asking 1/2 of that with this car. I just threw a number out there. make an offer and I might just take it. if you have any questions feel free to email me or text me (315) 263-0196. thank you for looking.

GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series

Thu, 31 Oct 2013

During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.

2013 Chevy COPO Camaro announced with two new engines and manual option

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

Chevrolet is following up the 2012 COPO Camaro with another limited run of the drag-strip-ready production car for 2013. Ditching the superchargers, the 2013 COPO Camaro can only be equipped with one of three naturally aspirated V8 engines, and other new features include the option of a manual transmission, new front springs, some minor styling changes and a lower starting price of $86,000. All cars are designed to abide by the rules of the NHRA's Stock Eliminator or Super Stock classifications, depending on in which series buyers wish to enter their Chevrolet Camaro.
Returning for 2013 is the 427-cubic-inch V8 producing 425 horsepower, but the new engines include a 325-hp 350-CID V8 and a 375-hp 396-CID V8. Buyers can select to purchase all three engines, and each will be matched with the sequence number of that car; the track-only COPO cars will not have vehicle identification numbers and can't be registered for street use.
Chevrolet is also offering unique enthusiast-specific options such as a COPO Build Book and the opportunity for owners to help assemble their car's engine at the Chevrolet Performance Build Center in Wixom, MI.

Hot Wheels' Twitter-enabled vending machine coughs up free Camaro diecasts

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

There are still plenty of companies that haven't gotten the whole social media thing down pat yet, but Hot Wheels isn't one of them. During the recent Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Hot Wheels created a lot of buzz for itself by using a vending machine filled with Chevrolet Camaro models, but instead of money to get the cars, show attendees just had to use Twitter.
To get the free car, people were asked to send a tweet to Hot Wheels Canada saying what they liked about the new Hot Wheels Edition Camaro, and including the #ChevyCIAS hashtag. This seemed to be a popular marketing tool, too, as AdWeek reports that the @HotWheelsCanada account more than tripled in followers during the course of the 10-day show. Looking ahead, this could open up even more innovative marketing possibilities using social media.
Check out the video posted below to watch how it works, and while the auto show has ended and the free-car giveaway has too, we're almost certain that some of the 1,500 freebies will make their way onto eBay.
