1972 Monte Carlo Restoration Project or Drive as you Restore

This very original Monte Carlo is a great candidate for restoring
We bought this car from Texas in 2005 with intentions to restore it to original. We have not driven it much since then and therefore are selling it AS-IS as a non-running, not road worthy car.
We will try to describe the good and bad so you can bid accordingly
Never restored or molested as many others have been.
Original body and paint, body is quite solid with some dings and scratches as shown in the pics.
Body has very little rust with the exception of the piece between back window and trunk which is very rusty and leaks to the trunk.
The doors even close nicely with no sagging.
The vinyl top was removed when we purchased it to see the damage and car has been stored inside ever since.
Trunk floor pan and rear trunk section needs replaced due to the previous leaking.
Driver and passenger floor pans have some rust and might need patched or replaced depending on your intentions.
Original dash is in good shape, original radio is still in the uncut dash.
Original seats are not torn but are stained from previous water (see pics)
Glass is good and windows roll up and down as they should.
I believe it to be the original 350 4bbl which did run well last time we drove it but comes with no guarantees as car has been sitting.
Transmission leaked fluid out after sitting so long so plan/bid accordingly.
The factory AC is still hooked up, unsure it it works.
We have no history or proof to show that the mileage is accurate. Title will show EXEMPT on mileage.

If you intend to drive this car you will need at the very least to install a battery, drain fuel tank and lines due to old fuel, go through the brake system, and fix the transmission leak among other things to make this car safe to drive and roadworthy. Again we are selling it AS-IS as a non-running project with no guarantees whatsoever.

Winning bidder must contact us within 24 hours of auction ending to arrange payment and pickup or shipping. Full payment by bank transfer/wire or cash in person within 72 hours of auction ending. Clear title will be given to buyer once verified funds are received by seller. Buyer responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements or may pick up in person within 10 days of auction ending. Car is being sold non-running so plan accordingly with shipping arrangements. Car is for sale locally so we reserve the right to end the auction early.

Serious bidders please email with questions and include phone number if you would like to speak to us in person.

2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray order guide hits the web

Mon, 15 Apr 2013

The official debut of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is only part of the excitement for fans of Chevy's virtuoso sportscar. Although we got to see the car and some of its preliminary specs in Detroit and Geneva, there is still no word on pricing and some of the juicier data points we've been waiting for - such as confirmed power output, EPA estimated mileage figures and performance numbers. Until then, CorvetteBlogger has gotten its hands on the order guide for the coupe version of the car - in both base and Z51 iterations - revealing tidbits like standard and optional features and available color combinations.
Some other new details made it onto the order guide, such as our first interior specs for the coupe including slightly less hip room and headroom, more shoulder room and the same amount of legroom. To see the full order guide, head on over to CorvetteBlogger. From what we can gather, it sounds like more information will be revealed on April 25 during a party at the Corvette Museum, and for those sun worshipers patiently waiting for a convertible, it would appear you've got another model year to wait through.

GM finds steering flaw, decides it doesn't warrant a recall

Tue, Apr 14 2015

Guess what? General Motors is back in the spotlight for not recalling something. This time, though, not only does the company have an argument against a recall campaign, but its position is supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. According to The New York Times, over 50 owners of GM vehicles have reported instances of stuck or seized steering after driving long distances without moving the wheel. One owner complained to NHTSA that the "locked" steering of their 2013 Buick Verano caused a collision with a concrete barrier in a construction zone. Along with the 2013 to 2014 model year Verano sedans, Chevrolet Cruze and Malibu sedans are also affected. Considering the popularity of those models, GM needs to have a reason for not issuing a recall, right? "Based on a very low rate of occurrence – ranging from less than one half to less than two incidents per thousand vehicles – and the fact that the condition is remedied when the wheel is turned, GM determined this was not a safety issue," spokesman Alan Adler told The Times. The company has, however, issued a technical service bulletin for owners that complain of the problem. The fix is nothing more than a software update that is covered for 10 years or 150,000 miles from new. NHTSA cited GM's actions, along with descriptions of the problems from customers, in its decision not to issue a recall, with spokeswoman Catherine Howden saying, "the symptoms described would be a brief, perceptible change in steering feel that has little to no effect on the driver's ability to safely steer the vehicle." "When terms like 'notchy,' 'stick,' 'slip' or 'feel' are used, it does not indicate a meaningful increase in steering effort," Howden told The Times via email. What do you think? Is GM in the wrong here? Should there be a recall, or is the issue so limited as to not warrant one? Have your say in Comments. Hot Wheels' Twitter-enabled vending machine coughs up free Camaro diecasts

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

There are still plenty of companies that haven't gotten the whole social media thing down pat yet, but Hot Wheels isn't one of them. During the recent Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Hot Wheels created a lot of buzz for itself by using a vending machine filled with Chevrolet Camaro models, but instead of money to get the cars, show attendees just had to use Twitter.
To get the free car, people were asked to send a tweet to Hot Wheels Canada saying what they liked about the new Hot Wheels Edition Camaro, and including the #ChevyCIAS hashtag. This seemed to be a popular marketing tool, too, as AdWeek reports that the @HotWheelsCanada account more than tripled in followers during the course of the 10-day show. Looking ahead, this could open up even more innovative marketing possibilities using social media.
Check out the video posted below to watch how it works, and while the auto show has ended and the free-car giveaway has too, we're almost certain that some of the 1,500 freebies will make their way onto eBay.
