1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo on 2040-cars
Strongsville, Ohio, United States
1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Here is a very nice looking and clean 1970 Monte Carlo. The motor is a recently rebuild 350 cubic inch Chevy motor (not sure if it is original to the car) that runs strong. It has a Holley four barrel carburetor with dual exhaust that sounds great also. The automatic transmission (TH 350) has also been recently rebuilt and had a shift kit installed. I just replaced one of the break lines and the master cylinder (there is a pulse in the brake pedal currently but it stops fine). Most of the front and rear suspension parts have also been replaced. It was an AC car but the unit was removed after the rebuild. The interior of the car is in great shape! The carpet, door panels and seat covers have all been replaced at some point and are all in great shape (front seat does have a cigarette burn hole on the passenger side front that is hard to see). The dash is also in very nice condition! There is a newer Sony AM/FM radio with CD player stereo that has been added at the bottom of the dash with 6" x 9" rear speakers. Everything works with the exception of the wiper motor (I just picked up 2 used ones from my local junk yard and will be testing them this week). The fuel gauge works half the time but I think it is a ground wire. The car has had a driver quality repaint (original color was mist green) about 10 years ago. It still shines up and presents well but does have some runs, scratches and dull areas. The car is rust free but there are some areas that I can see had some body work done prior to paint (drivers door lip and rocker area). All new weather stripping through out as well as all new window fuzzes! The frame is in outstanding condition! The floors are like new! The trunk pan does have holes in both rear corners but is fine as is. It still has the original poly spare tire and original jack! Chevrolet rally wheels with newer BF Goodrich TA radials! This car get plenty of looks. Here is a chance to get a great classic at a reasonable price! Feel free to call me with any questions at 440-785-2687. Shipping of the car is the responsibility of buyer but I will be happy to assist you in locating transportation for the car. |

Read This: Auto Extremist advocates for Corvette as brand with multiple models [w/poll]
Fri, 25 Jan 2013The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette really grinds Peter De Lorenzo's gears. Or, more accurately, the self-anointed Auto Extremist has an issue with what he sees as mismanagement of the legendary sports car by General Motors executives. In a new editorial on his website, De Lorenzo argues it's time to split Corvette off from Chevrolet to create an all-new brand, complete with a model range with at least three new takes on the sports car. Capable of fully leveraging the successes of the Corvette Racing program and brandishing the full might of GM's technical prowess, the Corvette brand would theoretically give Porsche something to sweat over.
Sure, that sounds like a party, but given GM's troubled track record when it comes to launching (let alone managing) brands, we say that's slippery slope that could just as easily end with the whole Corvette franchise in the scrap bin. Either way, the notion is certainly an interesting one. Head over to Auto Extremist to take in the full editorial, and then let us know what you think in Comments. Should GM split off its most storied nameplate?

GM dealers unhappy about pickup prices
Mon, 21 Oct 2013The backlash is beginning. Following General Motors' price hike of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra last week, dealers across the country are expressing their ire over increasing prices in the face of rebates and discounts on trucks from Ford and Ram.
Speaking to Automotive News, Sam Pilato, the general manager at Dimmitt Chevrolet in Clearwater, FL, Silverados are "selling very poorly." W. Carrol Smith, the president of Monument Chevrolet in the heart of truck country, Texas, said, "[GM's] position is that the vehicle stands on its own and it doesn't need a bigger rebate. That's not what the market is telling us."
According to AN, that's the general attitude amongst Chevy and GMC dealers across the country, where the twin pickups are getting butchered in sales by competitors offering up to $9,000 off their sticker prices. Part of the problem for GM is that its trucks are arriving on the market near the end of the current F-150's lifecycle, a fact that Ford has taken advantage of.
GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series
Thu, 31 Oct 2013During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.
