Clayton, North Carolina, United States
This car has been in my family since it was new. Excellent condition. Fully restored in 2009. No corners cut
Badged as SS SS hood Original number matching 283 built and cammed, .030 bored edlebrok carb and intake over 325 hp New steering column, new steering wheel New heater controls High comp starter Complete new interior, door sills, all weather striping, new headliner Full hotchkis sport suspension Lowered stance Front disc brakes Long tube headers, full custom exhaust, sounds like a beast Chrome cragar style rims, wide in the back, narrow up front Tinted glass Trunk has been fully restored as well All new wiring and fuse panel Full quarter skins Interior was done all black I had the car at my dads in Florida since it was restored, the chrome on the rims and the valve covers have slight pitting from where it was not driven. The car has 3,000 miles since restoration, the total mileage for the life of the car is 124,000 miles. Car was bought new by my dads uncle and went to my dad in 1974 and has been mine and my fathers ever since. We spent north of 32,000 restoring the car and I have part of the receipts, some were lost in my move. The car is currently with me in Raleigh, NC area and is available to view. I can send pics upon request and feel free to ask me any questions. There were no corners cut in building her, was planning on showing her as a hobby but time has not allowed it and its time to let her go to someone who will enjoy her. The exterior has the SS hood and moldings and all badges, the drive train is all original numbers matching 283 V8 with 3 speed on the column. The motor was rebuilt with forged internals and eagle rods, the motor build alone was $6000.00. I am setting the reserve at $20,000.00 in hopes to recoup at least about half of what we spent. |

Chevy Corvette gets Valet Mode with Performance Data Recorder [w/video]
Mon, 18 Aug 2014For the 2015-model-year, Chevrolet introduces Valet Mode for the Corvette, an enhancement to the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) already available and to your peace of mind. The PDR already captures 720p HD video with a windshield-mounted camera, records interior audio with a cabin microphone and gathers telemetry data using GPS, saving the data to an SD card in the glovebox. You can then watch your track-day antics with various information overlays on the center console screen.
Valet Mode will let you hit 'Replay' when your car gets pulled up front smelling vaguely of fricasseed clutch. Turned on by entering a four-digit code, it also locks the interior storage spaces and turns off the infotainment system. It can't be turned off until the code is re-entered. There's a press release below with more information as well as a video that explains how it works, with the obligatory dig at the 'Vette's biggest foe.
Seeing the Detroit Auto Show via drone
Sun, Jan 18 2015Seeing the Chevrolet display at the Detroit Auto Show is worth doing this year, and not just because of the new Corvette Z06, Volt and Bolt concept. In order to attract the new kids, The Bowtie has gone what the old kids used to call "buck wild" with their show stand at Cobo Hall. A Corvette Z06, Trax, and Colorado are parked along a central aisle, called Mainstreet, at the end of which is a 20-foot-tall, 73-foot long transparent screen lording over the new Volt. Elsewhere are five more 20-foot-tall screens broadcasting nine stories today's Chevrolet wants to tell about its vehicles, from performance to belief in the power of play to its 4G LTE-equipped OnStar telematics service. Then there are the social media and virtual reality safety installations, the community presentations and more. Chevrolet flew a drone through the stand to show off what it's doing, which is has replaced eye-level video as the next best thing to being there. You can check it out in the video above.
Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine
Fri, 08 Mar 2013Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
