1998 Chevrolet Malibu/3.1 Automatic/ac/cruise/power Everything/122k Miles on 2040-cars
Charleston, West Virginia, United States
Up for sale is a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu. This car has the 3.1 6 cylinder motor with automatic transmission. It has 122650 miles. It has AC,cruise, tilt wheel, power windows, power door locks, power trunk. All of the power stuff works as it should. The inside of the car is in good shape with some stains on the carpet and the headliner in the very back is starting to sag a little, everything else is in good condition. The outside of the car has a few places - a little rust below the gas lid,a scratch on the drivers side fender and some on the front. It has good tires and was just inspected so it is ready to go. Now the bad.....the motor was making a noise and a mechanic we know looked at it and said it was a lifter that was sticking. He said to change oil and put in some Lucas oil treatment, well we did that and it helped alot BUT you can still hear the noise sometimes, it uses a little bit of antifreeze but normally does not use any oil. The car has not been driven much, we bought it in 07 with 101k on it and in almost 7 years later we have only put 20k on it. The ABS light comes on sometimes but I have not had it checked and the low antifreeze light sometimes comes on but I think it is going bad because 95% of the time it does not need any antifreeze. This has been a great car and other than the lifter we have had no problems with it. We are only selling because my mom is 82 and she is going to quit driving. We will consider any reasonable offer...please know that the motor does sometimes make a noise so we offer no guarantees as far as the motor goes. You are more than welcome to stop by and check it out from top to bottom and take it for a test drive. Feel free to ask any questions. |

GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title
Thu, 12 Sep 2013General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.
Engine block heater issues force GM to recall 324,226 diesel heavy duty trucks
Tue, May 7 2019General Motors has issued a recall on 324,226 diesel heavy duty trucks that could be susceptible to short circuits, and consequently, potential fire. The recall affects several models of heavy duty Chevrolet Silverados and GMC Sierras with optional engine block heaters. GM is recalling seven different truck models spread across three years. The recall affects the 2017-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, 2017-2019 Silverado 3500HD, 2019 Silverado 4500HD, 2019 Silverado 5500HD, and 2019 Silverado 6500HD, plus the 2017-2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD and 2017-2019 Sierra 3500HD. Specifically, it includes these models with the 6.6-liter Duramax diesel engines and the optional engine block heater. The recall technically deals not with the engine block heater itself, but the way it is connected. According to NHTSA campaign No. 19V328000, the engine block heater cord or the terminals that link the cord to the heater could short circuit. A short circuit could potentially damage engine components and result in a fire. According to The Detroit News, 19 fires have been reported but nobody has been injured. GM has yet to figure out a fix, and thus has not yet released a notification schedule for affected customers. If you believe your vehicle is part of the recall, contact GM customer service at 1-586-596-1733 and use reference number N182206310.
Next-gen Chevy Volt gets Corvette looks, adjustable regen levels
Sat, Dec 20 2014The hood may say "full speed ahead." The regenerative braking system says "slow down a bit." One person's automotive improvements is another's identity crisis, all in a day's work analyzing the new Chevrolet Volt. The next-generation version of General Motors' first extended-range plug in will include design touches taken from to the new Chevrolet Corvette, GM's iconic sports car. Hexagonal taillights and a "taut" hood will be part of the new package, Automotive News says, citing General Motors design chief Ed Wilbur. But does that mean the Volt is shedding any of its green-car cred? Not at all, if one considers that the Volt will also let the driver adjust the degree of regenerative braking using steering-wheel paddles to dial up and recapture as much energy as possible and engage in "one-pedal" driving or turn it down for easier coasting. Check out the 55-second video below featuring GM executives Mark Reuss and Andrew Farah trying out the Volt's new regenerative-braking system that was first used on the Cadillac ELR. GM will have more details for us when it unveils the 2016 Chevy Volt at the North American Auto Show in Detroit next month. The new version is said to have a larger battery, a longer all-electric driving range and more power, but Chevy's been fairly mum on those sorts of performance details so far.
