Up for auction is a 1978 Chevy Malibu Classic. This car is equipped with a strong running V8 engine with dual exhaust, Edelbrock aluminum intake, 625cfm Street Demon carburetor, 65K HEI distributor and automatic transmission. The car recently received a fresh tune-up with new spark plugs, spark plug wires, fuel filter and air filter. The body of this car is in really good condition for its age and still has the factory paint on it. The body has no rust through anywhere on it. It does have a few dings and one small dent on the lower passenger front fender, but nothing that can't easily be fixed. The interior will need a little attention, but all parts can easily be purchased new or used here on eBay. It has a Kenwood CD player with AUX input and iPhone hookup and Kicker 3-way 6x9 speakers in the rear package tray. The car has developed a slight brake pad squeal in the front, so I am including all new brake pads, front hub assemblies, and wheel bearings for the front with the car. If the bidding goes over $3500 the car will come with a new set of Cooper Cobra tires (275/60/15 on the rear and 215/70/15 on the front) mounted on a set of rally wheels (15x8 rear/15x7 front) If the bidding does not reach $3500, the car will come with the staggered (14"front/15" rear) directional mag wheels and tires shown in the last picture. These cars are getting harder and harder to find in this condition, as most are being stripped down for use on the drag strip. This car is tagged, insured and driven on a regular basis and has a clean/clear title in my name that is ready for immediate transfer.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and I will answer them as soon as possible. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due by PayPal immediately after the auction end with the balance due by cash/cashiers check within 72 hours of auction end. All funds must clear my bank before either the title or vehicle will be released (5-7 day hold on cashiers checks) This is a 35 year old used vehicle, and is therefor sold as-is with no warranty. I encourage you to come check out the vehicle or have someone come inspect the vehicle for you prior to bidding. Thanks for looking at my auction, and good luck to you.

Jay Leno gets pulled over while roaring in a Corvette Z06 convertible

Tue, Jan 6 2015

No one is above the law, even if that person is a certain silver-haired auto enthusiast with a popular weekly video series about the cars in his garage. This week, Jay Leno experiences the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z06, but he also gets to have a meeting with some of California's Finest immediately after a high-speed blast. As opposed to the full-bore Z06 coupe with the seven-speed manual, Leno gets behind the wheel of the slightly heavier convertible version with the eight-speed auto. Being a droptop doesn't bother him too much, but Leno makes it obvious he wishes that he could be shifting for himself. Even if the auto is technically quicker, Leno says that swapping gears gives him something to do while driving. Of course, one of the major advantages of the convertible is the ability to listen to the Z06's thumping V8 unimpeded. With 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque from 6.2-liters of supercharged muscle, it already puts down impressive numbers, but the sound might just be the best part of all. Around town, the 'Vette is quiet enough to easily blend in with the rest of traffic. However, tip the throttle down and the valves in the exhaust open up to turn the engine into roaring monster. Be careful where you make this thing howl, though, because it's pretty easy for the police to take notice. The host finds that out the hard way in this week's episode of Jay Leno's Garage. Watch the National Corvette Museum sinkhole being filled in by R/C cars

Sun, Jan 11 2015

Okay, so not exactly cars, but Bobcats - but still quite cool. You might remember that the National Corvette Museum had that little divot that needed to be filled in. Turns out the construction firm of Scott, Murphy & Daniel doing the work is using two remote-controlled Bobcats to fill the sinkhole with "manufactured sand," which in this case is crushed limestone. It appears that the Bobcat company has offered remote operation since at least 2007 via a wireless transmitter that works up to 1,500 feet away. So yes, that means two SMD employees stand on the edge of the pit and flick joystick levers for hours at a time, one in charge of a Bobcat with a roller-compactor attachment, the other in charge of a Bobcat with a bucket. And that, to us, is a pretty good way to earn the daily bread. Check out the video above for the latest sinkhole update.
