Very reasonable reserve on this Chevelle. Bid to win!!

On August 30th, 1976, Carol Hyde purchased this Malibu for $1,750.00. Carol owned this car for 37 years and cared for it in a way that only people from that generation did.  I have 37 years worth of meticulous maintenance records. I'm talking OCD level here! Four envelopes full of everything ever done to her baby.  I have the original bank check issued, contract paperwork and keys.

The original, numbers matching 350 runs beautifully. All of the drivetrain is original to the car. It has never been modified. The black interior shows like showroom fresh and it is all original. No rips or tears, no sagging headliner, no cracked dashpad, no warped door panels or package tray etc. It is basically perfect, with the exception of the carpet starting to fade and the right rear door panel chrome piping is peeling.

This is an original Nevada Silver car that was sprayed in 1983 with a low budget repaint that is showing its age. The car will need a few patch panels in all of the usual areas, including the bottom of both front fenders, the bottom of both rear quarters and below the rear window. The floor pans in the car have zero rust in them. The frame is sold and has never been hit. The trunk is also solid and containes an original G-78 bias ply K-Mart spare tire.  The original GM bumpers are straight and true with a very nice original quality shine to them. The grill is cracked on the drivers side.

The vast majority of these cars have been beat, modified or completely roached by misguided youth. Carol was an adult when she purchased it in 1976 and drove the 2bl 350 equipped Malibu as a commuter car. The dash is completely stock, no holes have ever been drilled in it. The stock AM radio is still intact and works like new. All of the wires under the dash are in mint condition. No cheesy splice jobs, burnt or hijacked harnesses'  The fuse box still contains the majority of the original GM fuses.

Minus the 1983 repaint, this is an all original car that  is an excellent candidate for a turnkey driver as is.  Although I am personally against it, it would also make a great candidate for an SS clone or tribute. This is a very low optioned car with the vinyl top and power steering being the only two factory options. Whats left of the original build sheet is still hanging from under the drivers seat. Odometer shows 82k, but maintenance records indicate it is higher.

If I have missed anything, please feel free to ask. If you need any additional pics, let me know. I am a private party who has been selling and shipping classic cars all over the world through e-bay since 2005, alhtough I recently changed my username to be more in line with my Chevrolet allegience. Please check my 100% feedback and recent e-bay sale of a one family owned Plymouth Satellite.

$500.00 non refundable, Pay Pal deposit due within 48hrs.

Thanks and good luck.

Chevy teases next-gen Volt at fan event in LA

Thu, Nov 20 2014

Barely two months before its planned debut at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, Chevrolet has released yet another batch of teaser images of its second-generation Volt. Unlike the first image, though, which just showed the car's rear badge, there's a lot more to this quartet of shots. The first three images show off the nose of the next-gen model and come from a fan event in Los Angeles. What we can see is a sleeker front end, with an evolution of the silver grille inserts previously seen on the original Volt and Spark EV. Gone is the current car's split upper grille, in favor of a more conventional arrangement. The sharper, more angular headlights are also an evolution of the lamps seen on the current Volt. Chevrolet also took the opportunity to announce a new location-based charging system that uses GPS to adjust the vehicle's charge settings, including the charge level, while also announcing that the next-gen car will feature more intuitive charge indicators that will be better able to inform owners of their car's charging level. The tech will mean that the Volt 'knows' when it is parked at home, and can thus automatically optimize charging for off-peak times, and so on. Take a look at the teaser images at the top of the page, and then head below for Chevy's press release announcing the new features. Next-Gen Chevy Volt Offers More User-Friendly Charging 2014-11-20 GPS makes charging more convenient Portable charger is easier to access Intuitive visual cues show charge status DETROIT – If there's one thing Chevrolet Volt owners love about their cars, it's being able to recharge the battery easily. Evidence of that is a U.S. Department of Energy study that shows more than 80 percent of all trips by Volt owners did not use the range extender. Chevrolet has made the charging system in the next-generation Volt even easier for customers to recharge the battery – and to check the charge status. The next-generation Volt debuts in January at the North American International Auto Show. "Chevrolet used the real-world experiences of today's Volt owners to make the charging process simpler and more convenient in the next-generation Volt," said Andrew Farah, chief engineer for the Volt.

MotorWeek's 80's GM muscle coupe roundup includes Regal GN and Monte Carlo SS

Thu, Jan 29 2015

Even with just four brands in the family, General Motors still represents a performance powerhouse. Between the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Camaro Z/28, Cadillac CTS-V and ATS-V, The General can still deliver plenty of thrills. The 1980s, though, saw the brand go even crazier with performance. While the Camaro and Corvette were still around back in the day, GM had a number of other interesting performance offerings. The Bowtie was complemented by the long-deceased Monte Carlo SS, while the now-defunct Pontiac and Oldsmobile offered the Grand Prix and thumping 442, respectively. And Buick, which isn't short on performance with its Regal GS and Verano Turbo, offered a much more serious vehicle, in the form of the Grand National (not to mention the Darth Vader-spec GNX). MotorWeek, in its hugely entertaining retro flashbacks, looks back on these three long-lost GM performance icons, and it's just as good as you might expect. GM won't really kill off the Chevy Volt and Cadillac CT6, will it?

Fri, Jul 21 2017

General Motors is apparently considering killing off six slow-selling models by 2020, according to Reuters. But is that really likely? The news is mentioned in a story where UAW president Dennis Williams notes that slumping US car sales could threaten jobs at low-volume factories. Still, we're skeptical that GM is really serious about killing those cars. Reuters specifically calls out the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Sonic, and the Chevrolet Volt. Most of these have been redesigned or refreshed within the past few model years. Four - the LaCrosse, Impala, CT6, and Volt - are built in the Hamtramck factory in Detroit. That plant has made only 35,000 cars this year - down 32 percent from 2016. A typical GM plant builds 200,000-300,000 vehicles a year. Of all the cars Williams listed, killing the XTS, Impala, and Sonic make the most sense. They're older and don't sell particularly well. On the other hand, axing the other three seems like an odd move. It would leave Buick and Cadillac without flagship sedans, at least until the rumored Cadillac CT8 arrives. The CT6 was a big investment for GM and backing out after just a few years would be a huge loss. It also uses GM's latest and best materials and technology, making us even more skeptical. The Volt is a hugely important car for Chevrolet, and supplementing it with a crossover makes more sense than replacing it with one. Offering one model with a range of powertrain variants like the Hyundai Ioniq and Toyota Prius might be another route GM could take. All six of these vehicles are sedans, Yes, crossover sales are booming, but there's still a huge market for cars. Backing away from these would be essentially giving up sales to competitors from around the globe. The UAW might simply be publicly pushing GM to move crossover production to Hamtramck to avoid closing the plant and laying off workers. Sales of passenger cars are down across both GM and the industry. Consolidating production in other plants and closing Hamtramck rather than having a single facility focus on sedans might make more sense from a business perspective. GM is also trying to reduce its unsold inventory, meaning current production may be slowed or halted while current cars move into customer hands. There's a lot of politics that goes into building a car. GM wants to do what makes the most sense from a business perspective, while the UAW doesn't workers to lose their jobs when a factory closes.
