1970 Chevelle, Super Solid Nevada Car, Rolling Chassis, 12 Bolt Rear, Bare Metal on 2040-cars
Dayton, Nevada, United States
Here is the ultimate starter car for someone looking to build the 70 Chevelle they have always wanted. The body is super solid and virtually rust free. What is visible in the pics is surface rust only, Nevada cars do not have rust issues like many other states. The car has been stripped down to bare metal so you can see exactly what you are getting. I did the most crucial areas and what is left on the doors and front clip is a very thin coat of primer. There is no rust on the doors or front clip and the only dent, still covered by primer, is on the drivers front fender. The worst part of the car is the passenger side rearand the corner of the hood near the windshield. It had bad body work but still no rust. It can easily be massaged back to near perfect condition by a competent bodyman. There is no panel on this car that is even close to needing replacement. The roof is also very solid as you can see NO PITTING of any kind or any back window rust. Take a good look at the floor pans, they are really, really solid and tight, no boulder damage or whatever people seem to run over. Again, the surface rust you see is just surface stuff that can be removed with a wire wheel, NO PITTING. Antoher great thing about this car is it has not been over dissassembled. What that means is for some reaon people love to take apart cars that have never doen it before and take apart the door guts and dash parts that do not need to come apart. The doors and rear quarters inside have never been touched. All of the window regulators, glass etc.. are in perfect shape and function perfectly, if you build cars you should really apprecitae this. Same for the dash it is still intact and only the lower A/C plastic was removed but I have all of it. So back to the body, as you can see it has very solid panels, rockers, and everything that is usually rusty is not. It was a vynial top car, which usually equals rust but take a really good look and double click the pics to blow them up to full size, no pitting and no rear window rust. Doors open and shut nice, all body gaps are really good, no inner fenders. ( I would like to build this car for someone so if you want it built I can help you get this as far as you would like.) The glass is in great shape only the rear window has some minor scrathces. The front glass is new. The milage is oroginal 71K thats it. I found the build sheet, but who cares it was a nothing car with a 350. It would make a great big block clone or LS conversion car. I have the seats and the rears were redone as shown and I do have the material to finish the fronts if you want it. It has a tilt column that is nice and tight. Ignition keys but no door or trunk keys, trunk lock hole not butchered. The rear end is a stock 12 bolt, open carrier no idea what the gears are but they probably suck. Front disc brakes and tubular control arms, frame was cleaned and painted. I have the A/C stuff but I would use the A/C delete cover or go aftermarket. I just have the firewall A/C stuff. The hood is an original GM Super Sport hood, not a repop so worth putting a few dollars into. I have the front end wiring harness and all of it looks intact and useable. The window trim is missing and what is there needs to be replaced. The trunk is also very solid and just needs clean up with a wire wheel. The wheels and tires are just good for rolling around I would not consider using them, the wheels are fine if you are into that look. I have described the car to the best of my recollection but please do not assume anything! Ask any and all questions prior to bidding. You are bidding to take this home or to own and have me build but not to hmmm and haaaa over it. Got it, great... Also this car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early so dont wait til the end of the auction, shoot me your best offer and a phone number and I will get back to you, if i don't, then reconsider your offer. The car is a roller with no brake pressure but it does steer. I f you need help with seting up transport I can help you there too. Clear open Nevada tilte in hand.

Looking back on our favorite cars of Mad Men
Tue, Apr 7 2015The second half of the seventh and final season of Mad Men debuted this week, set to cap a run of public and critical acclaim. A decade's worth of interesting cars also made for good television, if you were paying attention. Vehicles didn't often steal the spotlight from Don, Betty, Roger, Joan and the gang, but they added meaningfully to the tone and beauty of the series. We sorted through the wheeled extras from Mad Men's archives, and choose some of our favorites to highlight. The list consists of cars that had at least a small impact on the plot of an episode, though certainly there are worthy gems hiding in just about every street and driving scene. Check out our subjective top five, and then let us know which of the Mad Men cars would be on your list. 1962 Cadillac Coupe DeVille – Season 2 Don Draper's Cadillac Coupe DeVille, all 500 feet of it, shows up in a few seasons of the show, but it's the first appearance that sets the tone. A Cadillac salesman, cut from the same cloth as Draper, asks what Don drives right now. "A Dodge," Don admits. "Those are wonderful if you want to get somewhere," allows the salesman, "this is for when you've already arrived." For a man on the move up corporate and social ladders that's a powerful message, and a pitch-perfect car. 1961 Lincoln Continental – Season 3 The most stylish Lincoln Continental ever is perfect set dressing for the mod show, of course. Though it's interesting that the car isn't cast as dapper Draper's ride, but rather his father-in-law's. Grandpa Gene does what all great grandfathers are bound to: lets his granddaughter Sally drive the big Lincoln while he works the pedals. Generational bond secured, in fine fashion. When you go back through the first three seasons of the show, you'll notice that Continentals show up more than once, too. There's nothing quite like them to evoke the best of the early '60s. 1963 John Deere 110 – Season 3 The only non-standard passenger vehicle on the list, no self-respecting gearhead/Mad Men fan should quibble with the inclusion of the John Deere 110 riding mower. For starters, the Deere is lovely to look at; a miniature version of the American Heartland icon in its green and yellow duds. The 110 appears as if milled from a solid block of steel, just the opposite of today's sleek, plasticky lawn minders (we're scouring Craigslist for one to bring home). The John Deere also has dear ramifications to the plot, too.
GM starting to talk seriously about 200-mile EV
Sun, Oct 12 2014We've been hearing word of a 200-mile EV from Chevrolet for a while now. First, there was General Motors then-CEO Dan Akerson hinting at a $30,000, 200-mile EV that would take the competition by surprise. Then Akerson confirmed that GM is working on a 200-mile EV in a speech in March. LG Chem, which supplies batteries to GM and other automakers, recently said it was working on batteries for EVs with a range of 200 miles. GM's head of global product development Mark Reuss just re-confirmed that there are plans for an EV with a 200-mile range, and sources have told Automotive News what that car will be. While Reuss didn't mention anything about a specific model or platform, two undisclosed sources with knowledge of GM's plans have said that an EV with a range of about 200 miles is indeed in the works, and that it will be based on the Chevrolet Sonic. The sources also gave a timeline for the car, saying it is slated for sometime in 2017. According to Reuss, the plan is for Chevy to offer a lineup of electric cars, with the 200-mile EV joining ranks of the Chevrolet Volt and the Spark EV. He didn't hint at a timeline, but if the sources are correct, we could see a Sonic EV being built within a few years. Reuss sees demand for it, too. When speaking of the Spark EV, currently only available in California and Oregon, he says that "people wish we would sell it all around the country." If he's right about that, it's not difficult to imagine people taking interest in Chevrolet's 200-mile electric car, whether or not it's a Sonic.
GM reintroduces Tripower name in the worst way possible
Wed, Aug 1 2018The story of General Motors' use of the Tripower moniker begins way back in 1957, when Semon E. "Bunkie" Knudsen, then General Manager of GM's Pontiac division, directed his engineers to inject more performance into his brand's line of V8-powered automobiles. Fuel injection was an option, but hot rodders flocked instead to Tri-Power (marketed way back when with a hyphen), which grafted a trio of two-barrel Rochester carburetors onto a single intake manifold. A legend was born. And that legend was born of performance. At idle and when full power wasn't required, Pontiac's Tri-Power system used just the middle carburetor, which helped make the setup easier to tune. Depending on the year and model, either a vacuum system or a mechanical linkage opened up the two outer carbs, thereby switching from two barrels to six, and allowing the engine to take in more fuel and air. And it was an easy marketing win – six barrels is better than four barrels, right? Because performance! So, when news filtered in that GM has resurrected the Tripower name, those of us who grew up attending classic car shows and wrenching on old Pontiacs did a double-take. And then we all collectively sighed. Turns out that today's Tripower refers to a trio of fuel-saving measures that include cylinder deactivation, active thermal management, and intake valve lift control, according to Automotive News. And, at least for now, it applies to GM's line of fullsize trucks powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. We're all for saving fuel whenever possible. And we have zero say in how any automaker chooses to market its products and technologies. But, we'll offer our two cents anyway: Relaunching a storied name from the past is fine. Relaunching a storied name from the past while completely overlooking the reasons the name got famous in the first place is only going to irritate the people who remember the name in the first place. Couldn't they just call this new technology package something else?
