1968 Chevelle Malibu - Frame Up Restoration
I bought this car in October of 2012 from under a tree in North County San Diego. Over the next 6 months the car went through a frame up restoration which hit about 95% in April of 2013 just in time for the Del Mar Nationals. Its been that way ever since and needs someone to put on the finishing touches and make the car their own. The hard work is done. The money has been spent. This car is a Year of Manufacture registered car which means it has legit black and yellow CA plates. It has a clear title. I bought the car to rebuild for myself as a weekend driver and to take to cruises. Life changed and I ended moving to NJ (NYC) for work in August of 2013. I don't have the space I used to have and with only a few months of the year to drive it, I've finally a year later accepted that I can't keep it anymore. The car has been at Donahue Automotive in El Cajon (the shop where it was rebuilt) ever since where it is cared for every day. Whenever I've made it back to SD I use it as my daily driver, but those days are becoming far too infrequent. Selling with no reserve so that it actually gets a new home and not me continuing to make excuses to hold on to it. I bought the car to drive it and now it just sits except for a daily trip in and out of the shop. There are over 450 pics and few videos in a G+ album from the day I got the car through the entire restoration process. To view the complete album, click the picasa logo in the bottom right corner. All body, paint, mechanical, electrical was done at Donahue Automotive in El Cajon, CA. Interior by Jim's in San Diego. Exhaust by Ed Hansen in Spring Valley. Good representative list of work (but by no way complete): Complete rust removal from all body metal POR-15 rust inhibitor GT Mat (Dynamat alt) in full interior Body repair to rear quarters, rear window frame, roof (vinyl removal) and general body prep for paint New Reproduction Steel Hood w/cowl New Hood Hinges New Paint - United Grey Metallic (modern day VW/Audi color - easy to match) w/ Matte Black Roof (no vinyl) New Trim pieces where needed on outside - all have been painted black except roofline which is chrome AC Removal & Heater Install (From 68 Camaro) Full mechanical run through and make over:
4 Wheel Disc Brake Conversion New Master Cylinder / Booster New front suspension - 500lb springs OE style wheels 15" (painted) BFG Radial AT's (nearly new) Full Interior rebuild
New Steering Wheel New Side Mirrors New Tail Lenses (fogged) New Alternator New Wiring Harness New Hoses New Belts New Fluids New Battery There's so much more but this gives you a pretty good idea of how much has gone into the car to this point. Please keep in mind that it's NOT perfect. There are a couple dings and bubbles and one or two little cracks in the paint. The electrical wiring has a few open issues still needing to be resolved. There is no radio or speakers. The glove box still needs the rear installed. I've done my best to include photos of everything I could think of. I strongly encourage you to visit Donahue Automotive to see the vehicle for yourself before bidding. If you have questions, ask. I'll do everything I can to get you a real answer ASAP. A winning bid represents the buyer's agreement that the vehicle has been fairly represented and is in satisfactory condition to purchase. A winning bid also represents the buyer's understanding that this vehicle is being sold "AS IS" and no warranties are implied or available. Car is located in El Cajon, CA. All shipping and/or transportation costs are at the sole responsibility of the winning bidder. |

Callaway debuts its new C7 Stingray at National Corvette Museum
Fri, 02 May 2014Callaway showed off its first tuned version of the 2014 Corvette Stingray at the National Corvette Museum last week, giving the rampant enthusiasts of America's sports car a look at the roughly 620-horsepower, supercharged rocket.
Unlike the Corvette SC610 we showed you back in January, this Stingray packs a fair bit more oomph. Horsepower is only up ten ponies, but torque has jumped from 556 pound-feet to "at least" 600 pound-feet. Neither horsepower nor torque is official quite yet, although Callaway is expecting to know just what its creation can do once testing and validation is completed later this month.
The 6.2-liter, supercharged V8 now boasts a new, three-element intercooler, which Callaway claims only allowed the inlet air temperature to increase by ten degrees Fahrenheit during dyno runs. Previous designs saw a 35-degree-Fahrenheit jump. The exhaust system has also been fettled with, and now is even less restrictive.
Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why
Sun, 27 Jan 2013Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
If you have about five minutes and you can't get enough information about the new 'Vette, then check out the videos posted below.
Camaro spy shots show subtly different grille, front fascia
Sun, 03 Feb 2013It looks like there some changes in store for the Chevrolet Camaro - the only thing is that we just don't know what Chevy has up its sleeve. Looking at these spy shots, we'd initially be inclined to think that there is just a minor facelift or a new special edition, but upon closer inspection, there are a few oddities about this car that definitely have us intrigued.
The most obvious difference on this prototype is the slightly restyled front fascia with a smaller lower air inlet and the two-bar grille. Then we get to some of the car's mysterious details. For starters, this fascia has the SS vent above the grille, but it looks to be blocked off. Granted this could just be a one-off piece used for testing. What really piqued our interest was at the rear of the car where it has quad exhaust outlets that are used on the ZL1. Could this be the LS7-powered Camaro that we reported on back in December?
At this point, your guess is as good as ours as to what we're looking at here, so let us know in the comments what you think this could be.
