1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Convertible on 2040-cars
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
We have a numbers matching 1967 Chevelle Malibu up for auction. We are the 3rd owners of the car.Rating from 1-10 10 being perfect i would rate it a 7. It is not a trailer Queen but a really nice car! The car was sold in Las Vegas Nevada and driven to colorado for several years then back to Las Vegas again where it has been every since. In the time that the car sit in Denver Colorado covered up it began to rust. When I bought the car from the second owner "here in Las Vegas" He had the Quarter panels and floors Replaced by a local body shop. They also shaved the firewall for vintage air before I had purchased it so I don't have the heater box, I do have the interior gages though. Other than that to my recollection it is all original. The original 283 V8 motor has about 300 miles since the rebuild and runs strong it also has the factory 350 Auto trans. that has been rebuilt, original drive shaft, 10 bolt non-posi rear end. I have the original exhaust manifolds on it but has after market Edelbrock 600cfm carb. and intake on it. "I don't have the originals." The car is very solid! nice paint.Color is Pacifica Blue with a black top and has a Glass window the original color was a butternut yellow with a black top with a plastic window. I don't have the original steering wheel, or the rims. The wheels are torque thrust wheels with 15" tires. Flow master dual exhaust sounds really good. The car drives really nice. I don't have the Kick down lever and bracket hooked up to the transmission yet but i do have it. The car has disc brakes in the front and drums in the rear. The seats are all original and have a small tear in the back corner of the front bench seat. front door panels aftermarket, dash all original with non working clock, radio is in but no wiring to see if it works.I was going to put a power top on it. It has a manual top. That is the way it came from the factory. Top is Less than a month old so it is still a bit stiff. rear bumper has a little surface rust behind the plate but is original. Original grill parts, T3 headlights, bumpers, all lamps and bezels, radiator, and convertible trim."convertible trim has some small dents and dings in them." The under carriage has been sprayed with rubberized undercoat and all body mounts and bushings have been replaced. If your looking for a great, head turning classic Chevelle to drive around town. you've found it! Everywhere we drive the car people drool all over it!:) If you have any more questions please feel free thanks.(702) 366-5342

How GM engineers are using diaper 'snow' to keep you warm
Thu, Jan 8 2015Testing how snow affects General Motors' vehicles isn't really a problem right now for the company's engineers, but in the dog days of summer the process isn't exactly easy. The only real option is for them to book time at the automaker's climatic wind tunnel. However, a flash of brilliance from an engineer allows snow to be simulated regardless of the temperature outside, and the discovery is all because of his daughter's wet diaper. The realization came to GM Thermal Systems engineer Nicholas Jahn while he was swimming with his daughter and noticed how her diaper ballooned in size in the water. He found out the substance that makes this possible is called sodium polyacrylate. When the material gets wet it grows and forms fluffy flakes that are a close imitation of snow. Best of all, the stuff can be prepared easily any time of the year, and it's reusable. The engineering team uses the material to test the effectiveness of the heating systems of GM's vehicles. They spread the sodium polyacrylate over the inlets at the base of the windshield to obstruct the airflow and then crank the heater. After some time, they can see how much is being sucked into the system and design more efficient systems in the future. See how the process works in the video above and read about the diaper discovery in GM's press release below. Diapers Change Chevy Cruze Winter Warm-up Time GM validation engineer uses diaper material "snow" to reduce frigid drives 2015-01-06 DETROIT – An item commonly found on an infant's changing table is helping General Motors' engineers simulate snow year round, ensuring heating systems in cars like the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze can quickly and efficiently warm its interior. Packed snow can prevent air from entering the inlet panel at the bottom of the windshield, obstructing the flow of air into the heating system and reducing the amount of air it can push out. This can lead to less efficient warming of the car's interior and windshield defrosting. "The last thing anyone wants to do when it's freezing cold out is scrape their windshield," said Nicholas Jahn, GM Vehicle Thermal Systems engineer. "The testing we perform on the Chevrolet Cruze with the diaper material allows us to maximize the car's heating capabilities." Ironically, Jahn stumbled upon his diaper-based testing method in the middle of summer. During a swim with his daughter, he noticed her diaper multiplied in size when it came into contact with water.
First 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray spotted crashed in the wild
Tue, 12 Feb 2013This restyled blue 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is wearing manufacturer plates, and it appears to be the same one seen around the internet in various pictures lately. This crash is likely not part of the Chevrolet testing regimen, however. Digital Corvettes forum member gpetry posted the shot with a note: "got this picture e-mailed from a friend in Arizona last week..." No circumstances are given, other than the incident occurred in the thick of a set of curvy roads, and the coupe ping-ponged off a guardrail and into the rock wall. Hopefully everyone involved in the incident walked away.
It may not be a pretty thing to see, a crashed sports car that's not even available for sale yet, but rest easy. Many pre-production cars are used for development and then unceremoniously crushed and scrapped, anyway. If that's the case here, that makes this wrecked 'Vette less of a tragedy and more of a case of exceptional efficiency.
Bob Lutz says Tesla remains 'fringe' brand
Sun, Sep 28 2014We've said it before, we'll said it again: Bob Lutz gives great quotes. From his toilet-themed opinion of global warming to Toyota's deity status, the man knows how to get your attention. His latest? Saying that Tesla Motors is and will remain a fringe brand. Take that, Tesla fanbois. This, of course, is the same fringe company that prompted Lutz and his former colleagues at General Motors to start working on the Chevy Volt around eight years ago. The same fringe company that has easily outsold the similarly priced (but don't call it a competitor) Cadillac ELR with its Model S. Lutz did clarify that the fringe status will only last until Tesla comes out with a mass-market electric vehicle that has a range of 200 to 300 miles. Lutz was on CNBC talking about the TSLA stock's recent performance, and he pointed out that even Tesla CEO Elon Musk says that the California automaker's stock is overvalued these days. Despite its prevalence around these parts, Tesla is not yet a household brand. But the company is working hard to get a cheaper, long-range EV to market in the not-too-distant future, so this fringe thing may not last much longer than that show Fringe did.
