1965 Malibu
2 door Hardtop
** NO RESERVE**

I bought this car along with a convertible a couple of years ago. I have since sold the convertible and because I have too many projects ahead of it, this is now for sale. I have come to realize that I will never get all of the cars done I was hoping to, so I will be listing several of them all unreserved over the summer.

Description

Mechanical: The engine runs well ( I was told there are very few miles on it since a rebuild... I have no idea if it is a 283 ,327 or 350 but it is a 4 barrel) and does not smoke or make strange noises, the transmission shifts well and car seems to steer as it should. The brakes need the lines replaced. I replaced one last week to move it around the yard and this morning when I moved to take pictures the other line gave out so right now it has no brakes. The battery needs to be replaced, the electrical seems to work as it should although I did not check every light and accessory. The fuel tank has been removed and is included, I run it now off a gas can. The exhaust system will need some work but it is not real loud.

Interior:  The seats were redone at some point are in acceptable condition with some fading but not torn up, the carpet is worn and the headliner and door panels are driver quality at best, the dash pad is cracked but the dash is original and complete.

Body: The body is rough, the left rear 1/4 has damage behind the wheel opening and rust and rear bumper is pulled away on that side.  A rock from my lawn mower broke the back window  other wise the glass is good and roles up and down there are a couple of small chips in the windshield but no cracks. I have not put the car on the hoist but from checking it out while it was on the trailer the floors seem reasonable, the frame and cowl look good. The trunk floor needs to be replaced, the previous owner removed the fuel tank to do the repair but never finished it (the fuel tank and straps are included). All the trim seems to be there. The car has the expected amount of rust for its age. Originally the car appears to have been a darker metallic blue from the factory.

Title: This car has a British Columbia title and registration, if the winning bidder is from the US I can help with importation documents as I have done it many time before.

Overall: This is a car that needs to be completely redone. The most cost effective way would be to use a 4 door as a parts car, most everything this car needs a 4 door will provide. It is a bucket seat car with floor console and shifter and interestingly enough has a working 8000 RPM Tach  which appears to be factory equipped. I couldn't find enough information on a Canadian Malibu to see if it was available as an option. It would take very little work to make a driver out of it and for the most part its all there. In reasonable condition these cars bring 20,000+ so there is a lot of room to improve this car and still be in it for the less than market value. If you in the market for a 1960's Chevy muscle car that, when done  won't cost more than a house then with no reserve this may be the car for you.

Location: The car is located in Salmon Arm in south central British Columbia about 4 hours from the US border.

Payment: Certified bank draft or cash when you pick it up is good, but bank to bank wire transfer is preferable. Payment must be made within 5 days of the close of the auction... no exceptions... I can store the car at no charge for a month or two if you need time and can help arrange shipping if needed ( I have shipped many cars across Canada and the US but will not give out shipping quotes except to the winning bidder as it takes a lot of phone calls to arrange a shipper)

Note: If you use the Buy it Now I will at my cost install the gas tank and do the brake work needed to make the car roadworthy so it can be driven a long distance
in case the buyer wants to drive it home.

GM won't sell 2014 Chevrolet SS in Canada

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

Allow us to be the first to extend our condolences to our friends to the north. General Motors has announced the 2014 Chevrolet SS will not be available in Canada. The Globe and Mail reports the automaker has confirmed the high-performance sedan won't hit Canadian dealers, though GM hasn't offered up any reasoning as to why that is.
Buyers here in the US of A, meanwhile, can look forward to getting their hands on the 415-horspower, rear-wheel drive SS by late summer. Something tells us it won't be long after that before Canadian officials start seeing individually imported 6.2-liter V8 four-doors in their neighborhoods. Fortunately, Canadian buyers will still be able to take home the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. The C7 bowed at the Canadian International Auto Show last week, reportedly drawing sizable crowds and interest.

NHTSA closes 4-year GM investigation, issues common sense advisory [w/video]

Thu, Apr 9 2015

Since January 2011, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been investigating a possible problem with corroding brake lines in General Motors' GMT800-platform models, like the Chevrolet Silverado and Suburban and GMC Sierra, in states with salt on their roads in the winter. However, as opposed to launching a full recall of millions of vehicles, the government is issuing a common-sense safety advisory to all drivers in snowy states to keep their vehicle's undercarriage clean. It even has a video explaining things. "Older-model vehicles, often driven in harsh conditions, are subject to corrosion over long periods of time, and we need owners to be vigilant about ensuring they, their passengers, and others on the roads are safe," said NHTSA Administrator Mark Rosekind in the announcement of the end of the investigation. The agency was clear in its report that "brake line corrosion seen in the GM vehicles was not unique," and the government "has not identified a defect that would initiate a recall order." Instead NHTSA is advising drivers, especially those of vehicles from before 2007, to wash their vehicle's undercarriage in the winter and spring to remove salt or other de-icing chemicals. It also recommends regular checks by a mechanic to make sure everything is in proper order. According to the investigation documents, for just the GMT800 platform models, NHTSA found 3,645 complaints of brake line corrosion, which included allegations of 107 crashes and 40 injuries. The issue was found to be more common in vehicles over 10 years old. GM has released a statement (embedded below) that the company "supports the consumer advisory from NHTSA urging regular maintenance and care of brake lines on older vehicles." NHTSA Closes Investigation into Brake-Line Failures NHTSA 13-15 Thursday, April 9, 2015 Agency issues safety advisory on preventing undercarriage corrosion WASHINGTON – The Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) today issued a Safety Advisory and consumer video encouraging owners of model year 2007 and older trucks, SUVs and passenger cars to inspect brake lines and thoroughly wash the underside of their vehicles to remove corrosive salt after the long winter in order to prevent brake-line failures that increase the risk of a crash.

GM claims it's first to sell million 30+ mpg vehicles

Fri, 04 Jan 2013

As we continue to put together all the data for the year-end edition of By The Numbers, General Motors has announced that it sold more than a million vehicles in the US last year that achieved at least 30 miles per gallon on the highway. More impressively, GM managed this feat using multiple strategies including small vehicle size, turbocharged engines and hybrid or plug-in technologies across four brands (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC) accounting for 13 separate models. This number will grow even more in 2013 thanks to cars like the all-electric Spark, the diesel Cruze, the range-extended Cadillac ELR and the Buick Encore compact CUV.
GM's small car sales were up 39 percent last year helping to attain this million-sales mark for 30-mpg models, and almost 40 percent of all GM sales consisted of cars with fuel-efficient I4 engines. In regards to more advanced means of improving fuel economy, GM says that it plans on having 500,000 vehicles with "some form of electrification" on the road by 2017.
