For your consideration is my '69 Impala 427 SS Coupe. This car real deal two owner car is simply amazing stunning .It was restored in the late 90's to its original glory with the factory 427 big block. The 400 TH transmission and 12 bolt posi rear end are original to the car. Other than the car's short stint in Volo, IL, the car has been a southern car its entire life. It went from Alabama to Volo, IL to Vidalia, Georgia, finally ending up in Augusta, Georgia for the last number of years. This is a nice, straight car that has just been detailed scuffed and buffed to and mirror finish. It was refinished in its original Garnet Red with parchment formal vinyl top. There is no rust on this car anywhere. The top is nice, with no bubbling or soft spots. The stainless is nice. The bumpers are nice and have a good shine. The 15" Rallyes are wrapped in newer Goodyear Eagle GT's. The glass and interior are nice. The seats and door panels were replaced in the late '90's and still look mint, The car runs and drives amazing. It shifts through the gears very nicely. The power disc brakes definitely do their job. The car stops straight and true, with no pulling right or left. There are no fluid leaks. The air conditioner blow's cold has just been serviced. Everything works on the car except for the clock . The car was ordered with the factory AM/FM radio that still sits in the bezel and it works great. Have you priced one of these original radios? As I said, this is an overall and amazing classic big block chevy. If you take it to nearly any show or cruise in, chances are better than not that you will be the only one there with a car like this, since there were only 2,455 built. The year 1969 was the last year for the Impala SS until 1994. Europeans ask Chevy to bring Volt back to Europe
Fri, Aug 14 2015A group of French fans is asking for a jolt of support from General Motors to get the 2016 Chevrolet Volt across the pond. The Association Amperistes et Amis des Vehicules Rechargeables is running a Change.org petition that currently has 383 signatures out of a goal of 500. While the attempt is admirable, it's probably going to take a lot more than several hundred people for the model to make a return to the continent after the poor showing of the Opel Ampera – first-gen Volt's European cousin. The group's major argument for bringing a version of the second-gen Volt to Europe is that consumers need "an intermediate choice between expensive or range-limited pure electric cars and plug-in hybrids with a miserable electric range." Furthermore, such a vehicle would prod the competition to produce similarly efficient electrified models. They also lavish praise on the abilities of the Ampera for its long EV driving range. The supporters aren't entirely kind to GM in the petition, though, and claim the company excluded the original car from marketing efforts there. The Ampera actually enjoyed a strong European launch with more orders than initially expected and briefly topped the best-sellers list among EVs there. It was even named 2012 European Car of the Year. Those halcyon days didn't last long, and by 2014 sales fell off to a trickle. The waning reception caused GM's decision not to introduce a version of the new 2016 Volt there or in Australia. Related Video:
Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war
Sun, 30 Dec 2012A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?
Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]
Mon, 29 Apr 2013Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.
