1996 Chevy Impala Ss 79k Original Miles 5.7l Lt1 4 Door Muscle Car on 2040-cars
Blackwood, New Jersey, United States
This is my Baby! But she needs a new home and I want someone to enjoy her as much as I have! Her name is Paula, I hope you find her as sexy as I do! Let’s tell Paula's story:I bought her on December 13, 1996 used, she only had 3000 miles on the clock! From that day forward she has only had Mobil 1 Synthetic oil and Premium Gas! This was the only year with the shifter on the floor and all analog gauges! She has had some work done
to her over the years, let me see if I can remember it all: She has an Arizona Speed
and Marine Cold Air kit installed, I have all the original pieces if you want
to go back to stock. The Home plate and such. The MAF has been
descreened. She has an Electric
Meziere water pump with custom wiring harness on a powder coated factory water
pump base. Upgraded her Optispark
to the MSD version. Just put new plugs and wires on. New coil pack. New AC Delco Fuel pump
was just installed. She has a Flowmaster
Force 3 stainless steel exhaust on her. It is very quiet, more quiet than
stock! New Transmission cooler
installed and new line. AC was charged and
redone last summer. Has Eibach 1 inch
lowering springs all the way around. Windows are tinted 30%
all around I have converted her to
an HID headlight system! They are super bright, I love them! Tires are newer with
plenty of tread, they are Kumho Tires. Interior is in excellent
condition! She has an aftermarket
alarm system. She also has a steering
column collar, no one is stealing this girl! I know I am for getting
stuff. She has won several
trophies over the years at car shows!
Now the areas she needs some love!
The wing in the back has succumbed to the bad GM paint and has begun to bubble and chip off. I have kept it polished very heavily to try and reduce the damage The Drivers side rear
window falls off the track, a very common problem. The overall paint is
good, could use a very good detail, she is showing her age a bit. There is a small leak in
the oil cooler lines. There is a new set of lines in the trunk, I have not had
the time to replace them. The check engine light
is on, the reason is the secondary air pump system has been removed, this was
also a common problem, and was only required in CA if I remember correctly. I
just never paid Chevy Dealer the money to remove the code. The PCM has Never been
reprogrammed. The steering wheel was
starting to need help, I covered it with a high end 2 tone color Wheelskin! The
contrast really looks good! The gas gauge does read accurately
however it has lost its resistance and does tend to bounce. The driver’s seat will
need to have the plastic seat sliders replaced if it bothers you, it is also
another common issue with these cars. There is a small fish eye
in the windshield, it’s been there for years, and it is on the passenger side. The power antenna will
not go up and down anymore. The motor is still good, it’s the mast that is bad.
I did not want to mess with it.
Everything on this car
has always been very well taken care of! She is my pride and joy!

Junkyard Gem: 1980 Chevrolet LUV Mikado
Sat, Oct 9 2021During the 1970s and into the 1980s, each member of the Detroit Big Three imported Japanese small pickups and sold them with Ford (Mazda Proceed), Dodge/Plymouth (Mitsubishi Forte), or Chevrolet (Isuzu Faster) badges here. Ford developed the Ranger and killed the Courier for 1983 (though Americans could still buy the Mazda-badged version all the way through 1993), while The General axed the LUV after the S-10 debuted in the 1982 model year. Isuzu sold the same truck as the P'up through 1987, though, and we might as well follow up our recent P'up Junkyard Gem with its LUV predecessor. LUV stood for Light Utility Vehicle, and I've managed to spot a handful in the boneyards over the years. This one now resides in a yard in northeastern Colorado. The Mikado trim package included striped seat upholstery and a sporty steering wheel, plus these cool dash badges. As far as I can tell, no LUV Mikado advertising featured any Gilbert and Sullivan tunes. This one is fairly rusty for Front Range Colorado, and it has endured a bed swap from some other small truck. The engine is the 75-horse Isuzu 1.8-liter. Members of this engine family went into everything from Chevy Chevettes to Isuzu Troopers in the United States. Very unusually for a small pickup during the Malaise Era, this one has a luxurious automatic transmission. Acceleration must have been a leisurely affair in this truck. Air conditioning? Unheard of! Someone stuck every one of their lunchtime apple stickers on the driver's door. After 41 years of work, this truck is done. Come on strong in a LUV of your own!
Is your new-car warranty good at the race track?
Mon, Feb 27 2017We've all heard the horror stories. Your buddy knows a girl that was dating a guy whose best friend's brother once broke his brand-new, recently purchased performance car while making runs at a drag strip or laps at a track day, and the manufacturer wouldn't cover the repair under warranty. True story? Urban legend? Complete crap? Yes, no, maybe. One thing's for sure: Automotive warranties have always come with caveats. In 1908, an ad in the Trenton Evening Times clearly stated: "All Ford Cars Guaranteed for One Year." Although it changed over time, by 1925 the Ford New Car Guarantee only covered 90 days on material and 30 days on labor, and it clearly stated that that there was "No guarantee whatever on Fan Belts, Glass, Bulbs, Wiring, Transmission, Bands, Hose Connections, Commutator Shells, Rollers, Spark Plugs or Gaskets." Whether or not Ol' Henry would pay to fix your Model T if you broke it shaving a tenth off your lap time at the local board track seems to be lost to history. We're guessing no. But what about today? Do new-car warranties in 2017 cover cars when they are driven on race tracks? We researched the warranties of 14 auto brands to find out, and the answer is yes, no, maybe, depending on the brand, in some cases the model, and whether or not your car is modified from stock. Acura has been out of the high-performance car game for a number of years, but jumps back into the party in 2017 with its hybrid-powered $173,000 NSX supercar. And Acura's warranty, as well as Honda's, clearly states that it does not cover "the use of the vehicle in competition or racing events." View 33 Photos So we asked Sage Marie, Senior Manager of Public Relations for Honda and Acura. "If the car is stock, the warranty covers it on a track just as it does on the street. No question," he told us. "However, if the car is modified, say with slick tires or other components that would put higher stresses on the vehicle's parts and systems, then we would have to investigate the circumstances further." Marie went on to say the same would be true for any Acura model or Honda vehicle, including the new 2017 Honda Civic Si. This became a common theme. Chevrolet actually started this practice with the fifth-generation Camaro on the high-performance ZL1 and Z/28 models.
Chevy Camaro is a good sport, wishes Ford Mustang Happy 50th
Tue, 15 Apr 2014It was 1966 when Chevrolet launched its challenger to the wildly successful Ford Mustang, the Camaro. While the competition between the two brands was already healthy, the arrival of the Camaro set off one of the most intense, model-to-model rivalries in the industry.
That competitive spirit hasn't stopped Chevy and the Camaro from wishing Ford's iconic muscle car a Happy 50th Birthday as the Ford's April 17 anniversary rolls around. These two cars have been linked over the years, and while the rivalry took a break for a few years in the 2000s, today's competition between the Camaro and Mustang is as fierce as it's ever been.
You might recall that this friendliness when it comes to major milestones isn't too rare. Ford put on quite a display for General Motors' hundredth anniversary back in 2008. As the Camaro's fiftieth birthday approaches in 2016, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Mustang sending its best wishes to its Bowtie rival.
