This 65 Impala is a real SS, 327/ 300HP with double hump heads / 4 bbl Rochester carb, factory air conditioning. and 2 speed power-glide trans w/ 3.36 12 bolt rear end. (Vin starts out 16637, means it is a SS 2-door coupe) Car is a very build-able project.  The body is in good overall condition, all glass & chrome and almost all trim pieces are present. All emblems are on the car and intact. Interior is rough but all there for rebuilding, including bucket seats, center console, complete dash w/ all gauges & factory radio. Floor pans and trunk floor are rusted out, HOWEVER the frame and suspension are all in good condition. Body panels are good to very good with small rust holes in the usual places (see pics). Engine is not running and has been sitting a long time. This is a BUILD-ABLE PROJECT, must be tailored or shipped. To be sold with a CLEAR MS. BONDED TITLE since it has not been titled or tagged in over 10 years. Car has been in the Memphis Tn area for most of it's life. It is NOT rust free but is also NOT a rusted out basket case.  The floor pans and trunk floor are rusted out and must be replaced, the door sills are in very good  condition.  Only the pans and trunk floor are rotted out.  The body panels are not full of rust but there are a few small holes that will need to be patched. Original factory jack included. It would be a shame to do it but if you decide to part the car out here is an idea of what a few parts are worth:
Rebuild-able 327 w/ double hump heads =$400- $600
2 speed Power-glide trans =$250 - $400
12 bolt 3.36 rear end = $800+
Build-able bucket seats and rear seat $600- $800
Console w/ shifter $500
Emblems $300 - $400
Factory air w/brackets, hoses, condenser, evap core, dash contorl $800 to $1000
Doors, windows, fenders, trunk lid, hood, grill, chrome trim, dash, ??????

Chevy Trax engineer says GMC version possible

Mon, Dec 8 2014

The Buick Encore is doing so well and its platform-mate the Chevrolet Trax has such good reviewer vibes going for it already, that a GMC version hasn't been ruled out. During the recent press launch, Automotive News asked lead engineer Al Manzor if the Trax could wear a GMC-branded suit, to which Manzor replied, "I think that is certainly possible." That's a long way from telling us anything about the probability of a GMC version of the Trax, and a legion of questions would need to be answered before it could happen. How would a GMC version be priced to leave room for the $26,465 GMC Terrain but not eat into sales of the $20,995 Trax or the $24,035 Encore? Or would that matter? Could it primarily be considered to encourage a new faction of The Yukon Set at the compact end, GMC buyers being famously committed to the marque? And of course, would there be a Denali version? It'll probably be a long while before we have any kind of answers, but if you want to see it happen, the door to your campaign of persuasion is at least ajar.

Cars with the most reckless drivers are full of surprises

Wed, Oct 13 2021

Insurify is a site for comparing auto insurance quotes. Because insurance shoppers need to submit information like the vehicles they're driving and the infractions they've compiled while driving those vehicles, Insurify has quite the database of correlations tying certain models to a habit of breaking certain laws. When the site's data analysts decided to compile a list of the top ten models for reckless driving citations in the decade from 2010 to 2019, the ranking contained a few wild entries. The Dodge Challenger making the countdown will surprise precisely zero people. But the Saturn L200? First, a definition: USLegal.com defines reckless driving as "driving with a willful or wanton disregard for safety. It is the operation of an automobile under such circumstances and in such a manner as to show a willful or reckless disregard of consequences." So this list is a caution about particular drivers more than the cars. For a baseline, according to Insurify data, for any random model, 15 out of 10,000 people who drive that model have picked up one citation for reckless driving. Back to that Challenger, then. No shocker for being here, but it's actually number 10, with 44 out of 10,000 Challenger drivers nabbed for a willful disregard of consequences on the road. That's better than the first surprise entry, the Saturn L200, a sedan only on sale for six years, with the least horsepower on the list, and out of production since 2005. The data set put drivers of GM's extraterrestrial sedan at 45 reckless pilots per 10,000 drivers. There are two pickups on the list, the only modern one being the Ram 1500 at eighth, with a rate of 46 in 10,000. Somehow, drivers of the third-best-selling pickup in the U.S. outrun the overwhelming numerical superiority of the best-selling vehicle in the States, the Ford F-150. The other pickup is the Chevrolet K1500 at number five, with a rate of 56 in 10,000. This is not only the oldest vehicle on the list, it went out of production in 2002, before any other vehicle on the list. Between the trucks, the Volkswagen CC slotted in at seven with 47 in 10,000 reckless driving chits, the Cadillac ATS slipped into sixth with 48 in 10,000.  The top four is a bag of unexpected. The Nissan 370Z is the first hardcore sports car on the list at number four, with 61 in 10,000 Z drivers flaunting their Fairladys in the face of Johnny Law.

First privately owned Corvette Stingray blitzes 1/4 mile in 12.23 at 114.88 mph

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

Chevrolet's latest road rocket, the Corvette Stingray, is a very quick car. If one needs further proof of that, we recommend they take a look at this video from Hennessey of what is claimed to be the first privately owned C7 Corvette to make a pass down the quarter mile. Not just any quarter mile, mind, this black C7 blitzed its way down the tuner's primary testing dragstrip. The Chevrolet ran the quarter in just 12.23 seconds at 114.88 miles per hour. That is a very quick time for a stock car.
Equipped with the Z51 package and a six-speed automatic transmission, not only does the C7 run a solid time, but it does so with little to no drama. That won't last though, as Hennessey will likely return it to its owner with far more power - we just hope they show a drag run of the completed product. Take a look below to watch the C7's 12.23-second run on video.
