CONTACT JEFF AT 570 977 0741. Up for sale and your consideration is a very rare equipped car. The ultimate factory sleeper ! What we have here for sale is a 1965 Chevy Impala 2-door hardtop bench seat car with a 340 horsepower 409 & 4-Speed & 4.11 rear. Extremely rare in this combination as early 1965 was the end of production for the legendary 409 engines. They were only offered until February of 1965 and then the 396 big blocks replaced them. So to find a 409 & 4-speed car today in this package is an extremely rare offering. Please take the time to look over all the photos here. I have a total of 50 photos of the car that I will be happy to send to any prospective buyer upon request. Just give me a call and I can send them out. I don't have a window sticker or a build sheet for the car, but I feel this is a true 409 4-Speed car based on physical inspection. It has dual steel lines coming from the gas tank to the engine that have obviously been there since 1965. The fuel line is 3/8". The original back up light switch was old and inoperative and was replaced with a new one. The bell housing, transmission, shifter and driveline all appear original. The original hold down ring for the shifter boot was found under the seat and used to hold down the new replacement shifter boot which is unique to a bench seat car. The numbers are as follows: The VIN # is 164375C111222 designating a 1965 Impala built in Southgate California. The last six numbers (production #s) are just plain interesting...111222 . The data plate shows a C code for Ermine White and a trim code of 811 for black vinyl interior. There is a # 70 after ACC on the data plate that I couldn't find a breakdown for. Engine code on engine flat boss is JB designating 1965 409-340HP manual trans engine. The original carburetor #7025123 was working poorly, so it was removed and replaced with a late model Edelbrock so the car would be driveable without problems with the fuel. The original carburetor of course goes with the car and the original tag is still on the carburetor. The 4-Speed trans is # 3851325 which designates a 1964-1965 Muncie M20 unit with a 2.56 1st gear. Transmission also appears to have been in the car since 1965. The engine runs great and appears to have been rebuilt somewhere along the line with new freeze out plugs installed. Since I don't have any receipts for a rebuild I can only assume by the way it runs and it's appearance that is a rebuilt engine. It is freshly serviced as well with an engine oil and filter change, new spark plugs, new air filter, and new fuel filter. The rear differential is a 12-Bolt non-posi unit with 4.11 gears. I do have a posi rear with 3.23 gears that goes with the car at the buyers request. I also have the original floor mats to include with the car and there is a trunk mat included. The interior has been renewed with new upholstery, door panels, carpet, headliner, etc. The factory in dash tachometer works. A rare optional clock sits on top of the dash. The car is also equipped with a rare tilt wheel. The lights and wipers all work. The AM radio and heater blower motor do not work. Underside photos of the car are provided so nothing is left to the imagination. Although this is a California car, it was stored outside for some time while in California, and unfortunately had worn out window and trunk seals, causing some rust on the left side floor and trunk. The rear floor was patched from the inside. The trunk floor was professionally replaced along with the gas tank being replaced with a new unit. Please refer to the underside photo and in trunk photo. Looking beyond the left side floor rust one can see that the rest of the underside is all-solid 1965 metal including body mounts and floor supports which are notorious for rust. Window and trunk seals have been renewed. Front suspension and shock absorbers have been renewed. Dual exhaust has also been replaced with Flowmaster mufflers and pipes which have a fantastic sound ! All the glass is fine. The body is rust free and has a presentable appearance with a few small touch ups. This is not a show car but certainly does qualify as an extremely rare one ! Since this car was purchased pretty much as you see it with only minor upgrades, my description is based soley on a thorough physical inspection. If any prospective buyer has any questions on the integrity of this car, I welcome the opportunity to show this car in person by appointment only to answer any questions. Although this is not a show car, it would certainly be a hit at the local cruise or car show. It's what I call "show me another one" car. I have a clean Pennsylvania title in hand ready for transfer to the new owner. The car has Antique status on the title and shows California as the prior title state. Mileage is listed as exempt on the title as many older cars are that do not have a sixth digit on the speedometer. The title will be processed properly by a licensed Pennsylvania Notary official into the new owners name. A complete bill of sale will also be provided to the new owner in their name. There will be no exceptions to this. Again looking to complete an honest sale here.
On Jun-07-13 at 10:25:45 PDT, seller added the following information:
After receiving multiple requests I forgot to include the engine casting number. It is 3857656 which in the book states 1965 Passenger car 409. The flat boss on the front of the motor is stamped T1211JB That corresponds to the Tonowanda NY assembly plant for engines and it was built on December 11th. I also have registration and insurance cards for the car from California and a shipping manifest for the car when it was shipped from California to Pennsylvania on July 16, 2002 so it has spent only 10 years and 11 months in Pennsylvania. Most of its life was spent in California.

Here are a few of our automotive guilty pleasures
Tue, Jun 23 2020It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. The world is full of cars, and just about as many of them are bad as are good. It's pretty easy to pick which fall into each category after giving them a thorough walkaround and, more important, driving them. But every once in a while, an automobile straddles the line somehow between good and bad — it may be hideously overpriced and therefore a marketplace failure, it may be stupid quick in a straight line but handles like a drunken noodle, or it may have an interior that looks like it was made of a mess of injection-molded Legos. Heck, maybe all three. Yet there's something special about some bad cars that actually makes them likable. The idea for this list came to me while I was browsing classified ads for cars within a few hundred miles of my house. I ran across a few oddballs and shared them with the rest of the team in our online chat room. It turns out several of us have a few automotive guilty pleasures that we're willing to admit to. We'll call a few of 'em out here. Feel free to share some of your own in the comments below. Dodge Neon SRT4 and Caliber SRT4: The Neon was a passably good and plucky little city car when it debuted for the 1995 model year. The Caliber, which replaced the aging Neon and sought to replace its friendly marketing campaign with something more sinister, was panned from the very outset for its cheap interior furnishings, but at least offered some decent utility with its hatchback shape. What the two little front-wheel-drive Dodge models have in common are their rip-roarin' SRT variants, each powered by turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. Known for their propensity to light up their front tires under hard acceleration, the duo were legitimately quick and fun to drive with a fantastic turbo whoosh that called to mind the early days of turbo technology. — Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski Chevrolet HHR SS: Chevy's HHR SS came out early in my automotive journalism career, and I have fond memories of the press launch (and having dinner with Bob Lutz) that included plenty of tire-smoking hard launches and demonstrations of the manual transmission's no-lift shift feature. The 260-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder was and still is a spunky little engine that makes the retro-inspired HHR a fun little hot rod that works quite well as a fun little daily driver.
So, how do you actually pronounce that automaker's name?
Thu, Jan 21 2016You probably have that friend who always says Porsche wrong, or maybe it's someone who keeps reminding you it's actually two syllables. Whichever side of the pronunciation debate you fall on, you'll find someone to root for in the video above. And before you ask, this was all the video team's idea. So don't get mad at me for being the voice of reason. BMW Chevrolet Hyundai Nissan Rolls-Royce Videos Original Video nissan qashqai
Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates
Tue, 26 Feb 2013Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood. Head over to the site for a closer look at the breakdown.
