Up for auction is my 1964 ss impala, it is a true ss(41447vin), 327 auto car that came with factory a/c and tinted windows. The factory color is Ervine white. The motor is not numbers matching, it is a 66 327, 4 barrel, 275 horse motor that runs well, The previous owner told me the motor was rebuilt but no paper work to prove it. It is pretty clean under the hood.(see photos) and the motor is very quite and idols smooth. The tranny is a 2 speed power glide, shifts good but I cannot get it to MANUALLY go into low gear(something with the linkage, first gear works fine) I repeat, the transmission works properly, it is the external linkage that is the issue. The brakes are fine, the tires are about 60% and it drives and steers decent. The horn, dash lights, gas guage, blinkers, courtesy lights and fan motor all work(fan motor only works on medium and high). The headlights, tail lights and brake lights work also. The two center tail lights are not hooked up neither is the windshield wiper motor or wiper linkage.
The floor pans are rock solid and the body does not need any panels patched or replaced. It will require some body work before paint (not a ton of work but a good body man can spend a couple days on it to make it paint ready). The trunk is solid around wheel wells but the lower pan has some pin holes ( hard to see but they are there) it can be salvaged or replaced. There is one spot on the under carriage that need attention, it is rusting around the drivers side rear body mount(see photo). The interior is very nice but not perfect, the silver upholstery is sharp and the dash assembly is very clean. I give it a 7 or 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. Bumpers and grill are also very nice. All glass is good and the windows all roll up and down. The car is a factory air car but I do not have the compressor(what you see under the hood is what you get). I do have all the exterior trim and all the SS emblems as well as the radio, wiper motor and wiper linkage(see photos). The emblems are brand new, some of the trim is decent and some of the trim is not. Also note that the council is missing the center plate that covers the shifter hole and I do not have the rear view mirror. I have extras on interior and exterior trim and misc. parts. Sorry if I seem over detailed but I do not want anything left uncovered. Drive now, paint later. I live in St.Louis, Mo and suggest any interested buyer to come and check it out for themselves. Serious bidders only please, if you have any questions please call or email. My cell number is 314-223-4780.

Body shop manager stole over $500,000 worth of government trucks and parts
Fri, Jan 27 2017The US Department of Justice announced yesterday that the manager of a collision and restoration business in Virginia admitted he helped misappropriate and sell vehicles and parts from the State Department. Specifically, he sold 12 Chevrolet Suburbans, a Hummer, and $7,500 worth of tires and wheels. He pled guilty to charges to commit theft of government property and wire fraud. He will likely see 18 to 20 months in prison, a fine of $4,000 to $40,000, and has already agreed to pay restitution of $416,020 and asset forfeiture of the same amount. According to the Department of Justice, the body shop manager, James Ratcliffe, worked with the owner of the business and a State Department official, both unnamed, to obtain the property. It started with the wheels and tires, which were delivered and sold on two occasions, one in 2011 and another in 2012. The trucks came later, and were sold throughout 2011 and 2013. Ratcliffe and the shop owner kept most of the profits, and shared some of the leftovers with the government official. In addition to the vehicles that were sold, the government official also gave Ratcliffe a pair of Suburbans for his own personal use. The Department of Justice estimated the total value of the SUVs at $96,400. In total, the group misappropriated $512,420 worth of property. Related Video:
Motor Trend puts Chevy Camaro Z28 and Porsche 911 GT3 Head 2 Head
Mon, Dec 29 2014Motor Trend admits, "This is an unfair comparison." But that doesn't make it any less fun to watch when they pit a Camaro Z/28 against the Porsche 911 GT3. The former has a 7.0-liter V8 with 505 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque shifted through a six-speed manual. The latter has a 3.8-liter flat-six with 475 hp and 324 lb-ft shifted through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Yet those are only the little disparities – the big disparities are mass and money: the Camaro weighs 3,882 pounds and costs $76,150 as-tested, the Porsche weighs 3,267 pounds and costs $145,785. But they're both about hardcore performance, so MT takes them out on the street, to the drag strip, to the parking lot for figure eights and a skidpad test, and finally to Big Willow for Randy Pobst to give his professional assessment. Remember when a lotta people spent a lotta time debating Pirates vs. Ninjas? This is like that, only it's the "haul-ass good-time car" vs. the "track surgeon." Enjoy the debate in the video.
Watch this time-lapse build of the Chevy SS for NASCAR
Fri, 08 Feb 2013There's only about a week left until we get our first look at the production version of the 2014 Chevrolet SS sedan, but Chevrolet NASCAR teams have been looking at the race version of the car all winter. Autoweek has posted a really neat time-lapse video showing just a portion of what it takes to build one of NASCAR's new Gen6 stock cars.
Though the video is quite brief, it does show almost the entire build process starting with just the car's nose, and it gives us a good look at how integral the template is to the final product. As a bonus, Hendrick Motorsports also provided some videos showing two of its teams performing pit stop tests over the winter. The second video shows some of the more detailed aspects of the racecar's rear end, including the stock-looking trunk cutout and a newly mandated rear bumper extension that will be used on super speedways like Daytona and Talladega.
To see what Team Chevy has been up to all off-season, check out all three videos posted after the jump.
