Hi, up for sale is my California born 1962 Chevy Impala. As you can see by the pictures below this car is in pretty nice shape in & out. Below I will try and describe this car to the best of my knowledge and let you know exactly what I see and know about this car.
Starting with the Outside: The paint is a 2 stage back paint job that is driver quality at best. For the most part its pretty straight and clean besides a couple small door dings and a few small surface scratches here and there. A good cut and buff is what this car needs. All the stainless, glass and chrome looks to be the original stuff that still shows pretty well. The bumpers also look to be original. The front is still really clean but the back is nice and straight but definitely shows its age. Theres new parking lamp lenses, license plate frames and front placard, new outside mirror, taillights, and billet wiper covers(still have stock wipers).
Inside: The inside of this car is very nice ! Theres original pattern seatcovers along with all new door panels, inner door handles, all pedal covers, door lock knobs, inner glove box, rearview mirror, carpet & floormats, all window cranks, turn signal lever, column shift lever, rear speaker cover, dome lamp lens covers, billet steering wheel or stock steering wheel if you prefer. All glass is original and still looks good with small flaws.
Motor & Transmission: this car is equipped with a small block 283. I was told its the original motor but don't know for sure. This motor is very strong and sound like a big block but once you open the hood you see its total stock looking even down to the generator . Theres a fresh tuneup newer alternator, battery and Spectre aircleaner but have original if you prefer. This is a power steering and power brake car which has been updated to front power disc to help stop this car even better. The transmission is the original powerglide that shifts with no hesitation and has no apparent leaks.
Rims & Tires: Currently rolling on a staggered set of 18inch black Boss rims with almost 100% tread left on tires, or if you prefer the original look I have a set of ralley rims I can put on the car for a different look.
Undercarriage: Its freshly steam cleaned so you can see that theres no problem areas and is rust free.Theres newer exhaust, gas tank, and front end bushings, balljoints etc. This car has a nice rumble to it, sounds great.
Trunk: Looks to be all original and also untouched wih no replacement parts. Its freshly speckle painted with a newer trunk mat kit installed.
Above I've described this car to the best of my knowledge. Im pricing this car to sell not to hold onto like some other 62s on here. Its currently registered and clean titled in my name and ready for immediate sale. Also I have no problem selling this car earlier than the 7 day auction for the right price. I can help with shipping of the 62 down to the LA ports for a low additional cost for all of you out of country buyers. I have sold 25+ Impalas to Australia, Sweden, New Zealand in the last 5 years so I know how it works. Please call or text me if you have any questions or concerns 408-712-9427. Thanks !

On Jun-24-13 at 19:08:26 PDT, seller added the following information:

Yes car is a 283. Front fender emblems are for a 327. They were changed out because I like these better. I do have the originals if you prefer.

Also, I put in my listing that the car has a new battery and alternator, but I meant new battery and starter. It is equipped with a generator not a alternator, Sorry for the confusion.

GM is quietly slashing prices on base models

Fri, Jan 30 2015

While General Motors' fourth quarter financial figures haven't yet been released, the automaker seems to be weathering a potentially rocky time well, even beating third-quarter projections last year. To keep the climb going, the company is launching new base trims for several popular models that make them cheaper than ever but with tight dealer margins. The new entry-level trims are the Chevrolet Cruze L, Equinox L, GMC Terrain SL and Buick LaCrosse 1SV. Buyers lose some content by picking them, but the prices are slashed. According to Cars Direct, the biggest savings are on the LaCrosse, where customers pay $31,065, plus $925 destination, $2,570 less than the previous base 1SB trim but must accept things like 17-inch wheels and no cargo net in the back. If you're wondering how Buick can remove only a little equipment but cut the price so much, it's because the company also slashed dealer margins. According to Cars Direct, the difference between the invoice and MSRP for the LaCrosse 1SV is only around $150, compared to around $1,350 before. The disparity is even greater for the Cruze with an $81 difference in the prices, compared to about $600 for the LS version. Showrooms are expected to keep very low stocks of these trims, though. "Dealers use such vehicles to get people in the door, but they do not generally want to do high volumes of these strippers. The margins are next to nothing; they don't make much money off these cars," said Ed Kim, Vice President of Industry Analysis for AutoPacific to Autoblog. Dealers are also expected to advertise that these new base trims undercut major competitors. For example, the Cruze L rings up for about $2,320 less than a Honda Civic LX, according to Cars Direct. One potential drawback for buyers is that these models might not be eligible for incentives. While the attractive prices might get customers into dealers, folks may not actually end up driving home with these entry-level models. Kim indicated base trims also make up a small portion of the sales mix. "Consumers aren't asking for stripped out vehicles, even at the low end of the marketplace," he said. Chevrolet To Oversee Restoring Sinkhole Corvettes

Fri, Feb 14 2014

What Mother Earth devoured, Chevrolet plans to resurrect. The carmaker said Thursday it will oversee restoration of the classic cars swallowed by a huge sinkhole beneath the National Corvette Museum in Kentucky. General Motors Design in Warren, Mich., will manage the painstaking work to repair the eight prize vehicles, the automaker said Thursday. The cars were consumed when the earth opened up early Wednesday beneath a display area when the museum in Bowling Green, Ky., was closed. No injuries were reported. The museum was open Thursday except for the area where the sinkhole occurred. Mark Reuss, GM's head of global product development, said the damaged vehicles rank as "some of the most significant in automotive history." "There can only be one 1-millionth Corvette ever built," he said, referring to one of the damaged cars. "We want to ensure as many of the damaged cars are restored as possible so fans from around the world can enjoy them." Just how the cars will be pulled out of the ground remains to be seen, said museum executive director Wendell Strode. The local fire department estimated the hole is about 40 feet across and 25 to 30 feet deep. The hole opened beneath part of the museum's domed section. "We feel pretty confident that most of the cars can be extracted," Strode said Thursday. "And we hope and believe that with just a little bit of luck, that all eight cars can be extracted and be part of the restoration." Chevrolet spokesman Monte Doran said some of the cars look to be in good shape, while others are buried in rubble. "It will likely be several weeks until we can get the cars out and assessed," he said. The GM Design team has helped restore other historic cars, but the Corvette project looks to be its biggest, he said. "These Corvettes are part of our history, and they want them restored properly," Strode said. "We're thrilled they're doing this." The cars looked like toys as they plunged into the hole, piled in a heap amid dirt and concrete fragments. The museum owns six of the cars while two - a 1993 ZR-1 Spyder and a 2009 ZR1 Blue Devil - are on loan from General Motors. The other cars damaged were a 1962 black Corvette, a 1984 PPG Pace Car, a 1992 White 1 Millionth Corvette, a 1993 Ruby Red 40th Anniversary Corvette, a 2001 Mallett Hammer Z06 Corvette and a 2009 white 1.5 Millionth Corvette. Pictures of the sinkhole showed a collapsed section of floor with multiple cars visible inside the hole.

Sinkhole Opens Up In National Corvette Museum, Swallows Eight Cars

Wed, Feb 12 2014

More cars are being moved inside the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Ky. to avoid falling down the same sinkhole that swallowed eight classic sports cars early this morning, Autoblog reported. Museum officials said the hole was discovered when motion sensors activated around 5:45 a.m. The rescue mission can be viewed on the museum's live feed cameras, which weren't working after the sinkhole emerged. A 1993 ZR-1 Spyder and a 2009 ZR1 "Blue Devil," both on loan from General Motors, were among the cars that fell into the sinkhole. The museum owned the other affected Corvettes, which included a 1963 Corvette, a 1984 PPG Pace Car and the 1 millionth Corvette ever produced. The state of the cars at the bottom of the hole isn't known, but trial lawyer and sinkhole expert Ted Corless said the cars may be a total loss for the museum and GM. "Most states, including Kentucky, exclude damage caused by sinkhole activity," he said. "There will be, in all likelihood, a claim made, but a lot of policies would specifically exclude these kinds of damages." Corless has 15 years experience dealing with sinkholes. He said that typically neither the building, nor the cars themselves are protected under their insurance policies. "I would have to say, more likely then not, they're going to have an uninsured loss measured in the hundreds of thousands of dollars." The museum is closed Wednesday while a structural engineer assesses the damage.
