This started as a rust free Palm Springs, CA car. Took me four years to complete. Got a ton of money into it and know I'll take a huge loss, but that's the current market we live in. My third Cancer surgery is on Monday, and even with good insurance the out of pocket costs are steep. Time to let this go and let someone else enjoy it. I'm not a kid anymore anyway. I'll describe it as best I can but will inevitably miss something. Feel free to ask any questions. 12 Years on eBay and I still have perfect feedback.

I bought this as an unfinished project from a guy in Los Angeles who got in over his head and ran out of funds. Well over $40K into it. 1961 Chevrolet in Corona Cream. Excellent recent paint. The interior is leather w/suede inserts. 44" power moon roof in front and 44" fixed moon roof in rear. One piece suede headliner. Dakota Digital dash. IDIDIT steering column. The sound system was featured in the July 2007 issue of Low Rider Magazine called "Wagon Days". Custom built subwoofer and amps hid in spare tire wheel well. All new glass and power windows. (except original tailgate) Rebuilt drivetrain. 396 cubic inch engine and 4L60E transmission. Aluminum radiator with dual electric fans for max cooling. New battery. Dual Flowmaster exhausts. The chassis has new disc brakes on all four corners. The calibers are show chromed. New front end with shocks and springs all the way around. New fuel cell underneath floor compartment in cargo area. The wheels are one off billet prototypes that were eventually deemed too expensive to be put into production. (They were $8,500 alone) 20 x 8.5 in the front and 22 x 11 in the back all wrapped in brand new Goodrich G-Force rubber.

I've since changed the air cleaner to a lower profile model. I included a pic. An extra set of tires is also included. The stickers are still attached. I'll also throw in a Retro Tech shifter if you want it. Paid around a grand for it but ended up liking what was already installed. Not perfect but a very, very nice car. Would most likely only take a few hours to get it entirely up to your liking. Heater delete. Needs oil and fuel cell sending units. Speedometer needs to be calibrated. Instructions and directions for those 3 items included. Can't find anybody in these cornfields to help me with it. Just me and the dog here. Only driven a few times locally so I never worried about it. Might have all of 120 miles on it. I own several cars and motorcycles. Retired so my schedule is extremely flexible. Happy to work with you and your shipper. Storage not a problem. Thanks for your time and consideration. Good luck, good health, stay well.

Survey says $25k barrier is a problem for EVs

Sun, 01 Dec 2013

The majority of consumers are more or less priced out of the market.
Electric cars are gaining popularity with the general public, but are they still too expensive? According to a survey 1,084 consumers by Navigant Research, a consulting firm located in Boulder, CO, 71 percent want their next car to cost under $25,000, while 41 percent won't go a cent above $20K. Looks like people are even thriftier than we'd originally thought.

Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above. Learn more about the fight for a closer-to-production look in the ESPN story at the link.
Now, if we could just get more rear-wheel drive V8 coupes into showrooms....
