1959 Chevrolet Impala
Convertible

** NO RESERVE **

Description: This car came from the factory as a red on red V8, automatic. This car is in very rough condition, it has rust and dents and is not a project for the faint of heart. To make it simple and avoid the risk of disappointing the new owner, lets just say it needs everything. If when you get it its better than described then that's a bonus.

Reason for selling: I bought this car as part of a package that included 5-59 Impala Convertibles, a 59 Impala 2 door hardtop, and a 59 Biscayne Sedan. I was only after one highly optioned Convertible, but to get it I have to buy them all. Unless I live to be over 300 I won't have time to do them all so I'm keeping 1 and the rest will go on ebay over the winter.

Mechanical: There is no motor or transmission, the rear end is there and the car rolls, the frame is in good condition for the year, and it steers.

Body: The body is rough, the floors are rusty as are the body panels, the folding top is complete, the windshield trim inside and out is complete and the pinch weld molding that the convertible boot snaps to is there. This car has 1 piece bumpers front and rear.

Interior: The interior is rough (whats left of it)

Notice: The wheels, tires and hubcaps are not included, it will come with roller wheels, There are many parts that go with the car (too many to list) that are not shown in the pictures, but again for simplicity bid only on what you see in the pictures, what ever else comes with the car is a bonus.

Overall: 1959 Impala Convertibles are worth a fortune and as such I think this car is worth putting back together again. I've seen what people are asking for convertible specific 1959 parts and realistically I would do very well parting it out, but I don't have the heart to chop the car up.If you are not familiar with what these cars bring do your homework and check it out $50,00.00 seems about average with a well restored cars at around $110,000.00. Its hard to restore a car and make money but with a 59 convertible its possible.
If your looking for a project car that won't cost more than your house to complete but will be an actual investment than this may be the car for you. I'm offering it unreserved because I'm serious about selling it, I have too many and so some have to go.

Location: The car is located just outside of Salmon Arm, British Columbia, about 3 hours from the US border. If you are a buyer from outside of Canada I will help with importation as I am familiar with US and overseas procedure for importation. I can in many cases help arrange a shipper, but this is time consuming so I will only try to get a quote for the winning bidder.

Payment: Cash in person or bank to bank wire transfer is acceptable. Payment must be received within 7 days of the close of the auction NO EXCEPTIONS. I can store the car at no charge for several months if needed.

Scammers: I've heard it all don't waste my time or yours.

If you have less than 10 feedback please contact me after you bid so I can confirm that you are in fact a serious buyer

Feel free to call me at 250-515-1110 or by email at bsingbeil@msn.com

Thanks for looking!!!

GM recalling nearly 4,000 vehicles over airbag concerns

Thu, 31 Jan 2013

Four different General Motors vehicles from the 2012 model year are being recalled over a potential airbag issue. The driver's side airbag shorting bar in the 2012 Buick Verano and 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze and Sonic might make contact with the airbag terminals, even during a crash. If so, the airbag won't deploy when it should, possibly increasing injury to the driver.
The recall is expected to begin on February 13 for the 3,896 units that might be affected. GM will notify owners who can then take their vehicles to dealers to have the airbag coil replaced. A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration below has more info.

GM looks to combat high theft rates on SUVs with added tech

Tue, 24 Dec 2013

The Cadillac Escalade has been at or near the top of most-stolen and insurance-loss lists for more than seven years, until it dropped to number six earlier this year. In 2011 it was fitted with a host of new security features to address its easy-to-override features and that has brought the number of thefts down, but when eight of the ten most stolen rides are large SUVs from General Motors, no one will argue that something else needs to be done.
Thus, GM has fitted this same theft-deterring tech to the 2015 Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. The Suburban and Tahoe will get the steering lock that the Escalade and Yukon already get, plus bolted-down third-row seats to deter thefts like this, stronger door lock cylinders and shields, and side-cut keys to inhibit picking.
Additional security measures in a Theft Protection Package can be purchased for $395, consisting of sensors on the greenhouse glass and interior, an incline/tilt sensor and added "key control systems" to make it more difficult for the men in black balaclavas to steal what you bought.

Chevy up to old EVs-equal-range-anxiety tricks in new Volt Olympics ad

Fri, Feb 14 2014

General Motors is at it again with a new Chevrolet Volt TV commercial. Viewers of the Winter Olymics (at least in some markets) recently saw a TV ad in between the skating and the skiing that made no mention of the environmental benefits or freedom from the power of Big Oil that electric vehicles provide. No, this one was based on pure survival instinct. In the video, a father is driving down a highway, perhaps through the Mojave Desert. His young son is sitting in the Volt's backseat and asks what happens when the EV's battery runs out. "We'll have to cross that burning desert with snakes and cactus until we make it back to civilization," the dad tells his son as they pass the skeleton of a fallen bull. The fine print makes it clear that the actual maximum range is 342 miles. But there is hope. The father tells his son, with a beaming smile on his face, that the gas generator has kicked in and they're going to make it through the desert. As they wend their way to the horizon, a voice over says that Volt drivers who charge up regularly are making it 900 miles between fill ups. The fine print makes it clear that the actual official maximum range before you need to either plug in or fill up is 342 miles. This theme that emphasized range anxiety has been utilized by GM since the extended range Volt was launched in late 2010, despite the fact that Chevrolet now offers an all-electric vehicle in the Spark EV. Volt fans are praising the commercial, called The New Freedom, on the GM-Volt forum and you can see for yourself below. This content is hosted by a third party.
