I am offering a 1993 Chevy G20 full size, handicapped equipped van for sale. This van is equipped with hand controls, a power driver's seat which goes way back, then turns more than 90 degrees to the right to allow a person to transfer from a wheel chair into it. The seat also raises way up for ease of transferring.
The van also has automatic side doors which can be operated by a remote control, or operated at the right rear tailight via a magnet on the key ring. It uses fiber optic cables and power unit to achieve this. The hand controls, automatic seat, automatic door openers, and fiber optic capability were installed by Captain Vantastic in Esopus, NY.
The van is also equipped with a Braun lift, which works perfectly.
In addition, Captain Vantastic installed the tv screen, surround sound system with a sub woofer, two DVD players, and the power system which powers it. He also put in a new radio and 4 new speakers for it.
This van has 61,678 original miles on it and has been very well maintained. I bought it on Ebay in 2006 after my son became paralyzed in an auto accident. It has some small dents and dings, but has never been involved in a serious accident. The body is in excellent shape for its age as you can see by the pictures. The paint is original and still shines remarkably well for a van that is 20 years old. The paint has faded on the raised roof, which is fiberglass, but I still wax it all the time to keep it looking as good as it can.
I have put a lot of money in it to keep it in top shape. The tires are new, and the brakes, rotors, brake lines, fuel tank and fuel lines were all replaced within the last couple of years. In addtion, I had the whole front end suspension replaced. I was trying to do a little bit at a time and eventually would have done the whole vehicle over had we decided to keep it. I also had a rebuilt alternator installed in it.
I also replaced the two front captain chairs ($400 each). Captain Vantastic also did that job. The rest of the interior is in good shape, except for a few tears in the carpet and some stains as well. The stains were there when I bought it and I tried just about everything to get them out, but nothing worked all that well. The vehicle comes with the hold downs to secure a person sitting in their wheelchair in the rear. I have all the hold down straps as well. The back seat also folds down into a bed. It works, but we never used it for that.
The immediate need that the vehicle has is to get the A/C working. The compressor siezed, and since we decided to sell it, I decided to let the new owner deal with it. The outboard end of the compressor was removed so it wouldn't break the new serpentine belt I had them put in it.
Here is why I am offering the vehicle for sale. My son, who is a C-6 incomplete quadriplegic, is 6' 7" tall. He can enter the van, transfer from his chair to the driver's seat, and drive away. The problem is, he needs help to get from the driver's seat back into his chair. It means he has to depend on someone being wherever he goes to assist him.
So, after much discussion over many months, we looked at cars and he found a Chrysler 300 he can transfer into and back out of fairly easily. He can then collapse his chair and place it in the car. We are having Captain Vantastic install hand controls in that, so that means we no longer will need this van.
The van starts every time (the battery was replaced over the winter), does not burn any oil, and has no leaks of any kind. I had a new driveway put in last year and go nuts if any of my cars leak anything on it. I would not be afraid to jump in it right now and go across the country. It is that dependable. We have mainly used it to transport my son to various doctors near here and in New York City (he also had a heart transplant, and remains an out-patient at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in Manhattan).
I have about $20,000 total invested in this van since we bought it in 2006. I have changed the oil every 3000 miles. It was just inspected in April and has a current registration. The title is free and clear. In short -- if anyone is looking for a van which is ideally suited for a handicapped person, or just wants a full size van for pleasure, you cannot go wrong with this one. You will be hard pressed to find one anywhere close to the age of this one, with so few original miles, and is set up for a handicapped person to drive.
I am willing to deliver the van free of charge within 50 miles of where I am located. Otherwise, the van will have to be picked up by the purchaser. I will not ship the van. I am asking for $500 within by Paypal 48 hours of purchase, and the rest paid by cashier's check or cash within 7 days of purchase.

No, Cadillac is not killing its flagship CT6 sedan
Sat, Jul 22 2017Mark Twain never actually said that reports of his death had been greatly exaggerated. But if the Cadillac CT6 could talk, those are the exact words it would use. Speaking to Jalopnik, Cadillac chief Johan de Nysschen confirmed, emphatically, "There is absolutely no plan, at all, to cancel the CT6." In fact, says de Nysschen, the CT6 will soon be the beneficiary of significant investment. "The [CT6] forms a very important part of our product strategy going forward for the brand. The car also has a very major contribution to make to the shaping of brand perceptions, and the transformational process that Cadillac is undergoing." For instance, expect the CT6 to spearhead General Motors' most advanced forays into self-driving automobile technology. Interestingly, though, the Cadillac ATS and CTS sedans probably won't live past their current generations as the automaker 're-balances its sedan portfolio.' Replacement models are "in development" right now, says de Nysschen, which will "much more clearly separate the market position, both in terms of target customer demographics, in terms of market segments and in terms of price points between these three sedan lineups." So, that's confirmation that the Cadillac CT6 is going to stick around for a while. But what of other models cited by Reuters to potentially be killed, like the Buick LaCrosse and Chevy Impala and Volt? Read our take on that here, but suffice it to say that we don't think they're in danger, either.
