2009 Chevrolet Custom Explorer Van With 6 Captains Chairs With Heat And Massage on 2040-cars
I custom ordered this van (and picked it up) at the Explorer factory in Warsaw, Indiana. It is the All Wheel Drive model that is great in snow and even gives you more confidence in rain. One of the biggest things that I had Explorer change was to put all captains chairs with heat and massage. The rear bench seat that 99% of vans have is not comfortable, rattles and is rarely folded flat. The van has always been kept in a heated garage and had routine oil changes. The paint is in great shape with not even a rock chip and leather is still supple. Below is the list of notable options and features.
-17" chrome wheels with street/all season tires -17" machine finish wheels with snow tires -Extra door and floor insulation for sound deadening than standard -"Medallion Series" wrap around ground effects -Leather Seating -6 captains chairs with heat, power lumbar, power recline and massage -Front 2 seats also have 6 way power adjustment -Low roof that allows it to be parked in a standard garage and go into parking decks -15" LCD Flip down TV with built in DVD player -Sound for TV can come from speakers or wireless headphones -Cooler to keep snacks and drinks on hand on a trip -Factory XM Satellite Radio -Backup sensors -Hitch step -Side air vents -Stainless steel mesh grill -Power sunroof with screen -Front spoiler and driving lights -Monochromatic door handles and mirrors -2-way dome tweeters in door pods -High intensity ceiling light panels -Padded front door armrests -Premium carpet -Digital compass mirror -Cloth shades on all rear windows -Portable air compressor -Universal game hook up -Indirect lighting package -Stabilitrak -Chrome Exhaust -Rear "helper springs" that keep van level when heavily loaded or pulling trailer -Deep tinted glass -Remote keyless entry There are a lot more options/features on this van than I listed, but those are the biggest things. If you have a question about anything on the van, please let me know. |

GM, UAW poaching Nissan workers in Tennessee
Tue, Sep 8 2015General Motors and the United Auto Workers are going on a recruitment drive at the Spring Hill factory in Tennessee, and they're hoping to poach some skilled workers from Nissan's nearby plant in Smyrna, TN. The General and the union even bought a billboard advertising for industrial electricians near the Japanese automaker's facility, according to the Daily News Journal. The reason for the billboard was simple. "GM was short of electricians," said Tim Stannard, the president of the UAW local at Spring Hill, to the Daily News Journal. The factory currently builds the Chevrolet Equinox but has a contract to assemble the next generation of Ecotec engines and the Cadillac XT5, which replaces the SRX. Thanks to the $185-million deal, employment there is expected to double by May 2016, according to Stannard, with roughly 1,800 additional union jobs. Beyond just several billboards, GM has job postings online for the Spring Hill plant looking for workers with specific skills. There has already been some interest in the positions among Nissan employees, Stannard indicated. According to a recent study by the Center for Automotive Research, the average GM worker currently makes $58 an hour, including benefits. Comparatively, Nissan pays an average of $42 an hour with benefits. The General's number could change in the coming weeks because its contract with the UAW is about to expire, and higher wages are among the major negotiating points.
These are the 'Greenest' and 'Meanest' cars in 2015
Fri, Feb 6 2015As has become tradition, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) has come up with a ranking of what it refers to as the "greenest" cars of 2015, and, by way of contrast, a list of the so-called "meanest" cars, so those who value eco-friendliness over all else can choose which vehicles they should or should not consider buying. As you may expect, electric cars make up the majority of the greenest cars on the list, but, perhaps surprisingly to many, the Tesla Model S didn't make the cut. It's worth noting, too, that where the electricity an owner uses to charge their electric vehicle has a big impact on its overall environmental impact. "A car that is charged using electricity generated from natural gas or renewables is going to have significantly less impact on the environment than one charged on a coal-heavy grid," says ACEEE lead vehicle analyst Shruti Vaidyanathan. The ACEEE's list for 2015 looks very different than it did in 2014. It's an interesting collection, though – and we're sure this goes without saying, really – we'd recommend doing a bit more research into each vehicle and how it might fit into your daily life before making any purchase decisions. Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
