This is a 1986 Chevy. El Camino with a 5.7L Tuned Port Injection engine and 700r4 4-speed automatic trans from a 1987 Pont. Trans Am.
Car runs and drives great, have original build sheet to show it's a real SS Upgrades / modifications: Choo-Choo Customs nose (looks like Monte SS nose) Engine / transmission / ECM and wiring harness from donor car. New AC plugs New Accel wires and module Cold air intake Over-sized front stabilizer bar, close ratio steering box and sway bar links from the Trans Am. New ball joints 20 gal fuel tank from Chevy Caprice wagon. Correct high volume fuel pump from Trans Am New fuel lines tank to engine Over-sized front brake rotor, calipers and pads from 02 Chevy Trailbazer Brake lines have been flushed and re-filled with new fluid 60" drive shaft from Olds Delta 88 Gabriel air shocks on rear Monte Carlo SS rims w/ brand new tires. General info: Interior is complete, no rips or tears but does show wear. (Planned to replace seat using buckets from Monte SS) Dash has cracks and needs a dash cap installed. Needs to be done:: Transmission tail-shaft speedo output is electric, needs to be converted to mechanical (speedometer will not work until the conversion is done) Minor body work including replacing the tailgate Completing air conditioning, needs dryer, high pressure line and charged. Compressor is on and turns freely, believe it to be good. New headliner. Good performance exhaust system. Currently has factory TA headers into 2 1/4" dual exhaust with Flowmasters. READ THIS PART CAREFULLY: Engine does smoke some, mostly at start-up. I believe the valve seals need replaced but have not spent any time on it because I had planned to go completely through the motor to build as a beefed up daily driver. Engine has no lifter and no bottom end noise to indicate any internal problems. Again, engine runs very strong with NO bottom end noise. This car is no where near show ready but is rust-free, needs only minor body work and has an awesome engine set up for a driver or to be built as a hot rod. |

Watch NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon put one over on a used car dealer... sorta
Wed, 13 Mar 2013Full Disclosure: in my younger days, I loved nothing more than tormenting passengers with my behind-the-wheel hijinks. Once, after a particularly artful handbrake turn on a two-lane at around 50 miles per hour, I left one backseat occupant crying in their own lap. This isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but it gives you a glimpse into why it is that I find this ad from Pepsi so damn disappointing. The premise is beautiful. Take NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, give him a disguise and set him loose upon some unsuspecting used car dealer. Hilarity ensues.
Except that this Pepsi Max commercial is so obviously staged, it can't help but feel like some ham-fisted marketing fail. From the strategically placed aftermarket cupholder mounted mid-dash for the hidden camera to the fact that the supposed dealer Camaro is displayed as a 2009 model (Hint: Chevrolet didn't make any), this clip is about as organic as a Twinkie. Still, we would never turn down a chance to watch Gordon thrash on a rental-spec coupe - only problem is, he probably didn't even do the driving himself. Check it out below.
GM claims it's first to sell million 30+ mpg vehicles
Fri, 04 Jan 2013As we continue to put together all the data for the year-end edition of By The Numbers, General Motors has announced that it sold more than a million vehicles in the US last year that achieved at least 30 miles per gallon on the highway. More impressively, GM managed this feat using multiple strategies including small vehicle size, turbocharged engines and hybrid or plug-in technologies across four brands (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC) accounting for 13 separate models. This number will grow even more in 2013 thanks to cars like the all-electric Spark, the diesel Cruze, the range-extended Cadillac ELR and the Buick Encore compact CUV.
GM's small car sales were up 39 percent last year helping to attain this million-sales mark for 30-mpg models, and almost 40 percent of all GM sales consisted of cars with fuel-efficient I4 engines. In regards to more advanced means of improving fuel economy, GM says that it plans on having 500,000 vehicles with "some form of electrification" on the road by 2017.

GM files to trademark name Badlands
Mon, Feb 23 2015If you've been hoping for General Motors to come out swinging at the Ford F-150 Raptor, we've had some tantalizing news for you of late. Last month we brought you a report that indicated GM has trademarked the name "Z71 Trail Boss," suggesting a potential hardcore off-roader. Now it seems the General has filed for a potentially even better name. That name, as our friends over at GM Authority have discovered, is "Badlands." The application, filed on February 16, indicates that it's for a truck, but of course it doesn't specify just what form it would take... or for that matter, under which division it would fall. So we could, in theory, be looking at the nameplate for a Raptor rival from Chevy or GMC (like the 2011 Sierra All Terrain HD concept pictured here), or for some other trim level, a concept truck, a special edition... just about anything. Heck, it could be for a Vauxhall, Opel or Holden for all we know at this point. Or GM could choose not to use it on anything at all, but here's hoping it'll emerge as something awesome in US showrooms sometime soon.
