1986 Chevrolet El Camino Conquista Standard Cab Pickup 2-door 5.0l on 2040-cars
Kissimmee, Florida, United States
Hi: Thanks for checking out 'Ol Blue, I recently retired from a 1K per week job & quickly found out that S.S. doesn't pay enough to support me, a Cadillac STS & 'Ol Blue too, SO, I've got to let her go---:-( If You Like What You See & Read & Need More Infomation Call Me At 407-973-6623 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM. I am the 4th. owner of this Elky and it has never seen sand or salt, NO Rust, NO Wrecks, I have the "carfax" from when I bought it from my Brother in April of 1999, I also have copies of all the title transfers from the Division of Motor Vehicles in Tallahassee, FL. I have put over 15K worth of paint, mechanical & body parts on & in it within the last 2 years or so. I'll give you a quick list of new stuff, if I gave you a complete discription you would be here for the next week reading it---:-) Mechanical & electrical: passengers side exhaust manifold, complete exhaust system from the cross over back, including the cat. speedo cable, tachometer, 4 guage cluster (gas-temp-volts & oil pres.) all dash light bulbs with cooler, brighter ones, radio w/ cassette because someone had replaced it with a Pioner & I wanted to keep the caruck (my kids call it that) all stock, it already had all matching numbers, door & window seals, A/C compressor, accumulator, hoses, fittings, you name it, complete rebuild with R-12 freon by Massy Cadillac of Orlando. Directional & cruise control arm, front brakes from the hoses to the bearings & seals completely new, rear brakes were done in the same maner in '04 just before I bought an '05 Cadillac STS & parked the Elky, there good & got very little use. tires & hubcaps are new, rims are stock rally that have been reversed & chromed by Stockton Wheel in CA., you will also get the rally wheels that came on the car with the beauty rings, caps & tires. both window motors are new "not rebuilt", radiator & heater core were replaced some time back & have had new antifreeze every other year, transmision has just had a fluid & filter replacement as did the engine with oil & filter. the engine probably could use a tune up, if you hold your hand at the tailpipe at idle you can feel that one cylinder if firing a little soft, I suspect the plug wires, the plugs are new, this has come about sence it was parked so I think a good tune up and a good long drive are in need, the rear springs & air shocks were replaced not long before it was parked in '04. That's about all I can remember in this catagory, now on to the body---:-) Body: front to back, headlight escutchons, grill, the metal shield below the windshield that the wipers sit on at rest has been replaced with a stainless steel one, wipers are new too, the hood was replaced with a new one (not used) because it had rusted through from the battery acid fumes, also the insulation under the hood is new, also the drivers door was replaced because the first dealer that sold it new in CA. missed a drain plug that should have been removed & the lower front corner of the outer skin had rusted through & my good buddy that did all the body & paint will not do rust, so he found a great, like new door in Oregon & had it sent here & he installed it, this man only does work on high end cars & did the work for me as a $4,500 favor---:-) the license plate pocket that the plate is mounted in is new. there is a new heavy duty mat in the bed for dent protection, that little baby cost me better than a hundred. I have a set of O.E.M. tiedowns that get mounted in the lower bed area that I never got around to installing, so you can do it---:-) I can't think of much else so I'll leave it at that---:-) Thanks So Much For Looking! |

Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car
Wed, 20 Feb 2013We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above. Learn more about the fight for a closer-to-production look in the ESPN story at the link.
Now, if we could just get more rear-wheel drive V8 coupes into showrooms....
GM executive chief EV engineer says reducing cost of plug-in vehicles is 'huge priority'
Mon, Mar 17 2014As we know, another major automaker investing heavily in electrified vehicles is General Motors, and it's doing things much differently than rivals BMW, Ford or Nissan. The Chevrolet Volt extended-range EV is a modest seller at its $35,000 sticker price but a huge hit with owners. The Chevy Spark BEV, still in limited availability, puts smiley faces on its owners and drivers. The just-introduced Cadillac ELR, a sharp-looking, fun-driving $76,000 luxocoupe take on the Volt's EREV mechanicals, has admittedly low sales expectations. With this interesting trio in showrooms and much more in the works, the third vehicle electrification leader I collared for an interview at Detroit's North American International Auto Show (see #1 and #2) was Pam Fletcher, GM's executive chief engineer, Electrified Vehicles. ABG: Why do your EREVs need four-cylinder power to extend their range when BMW's i3 makes do with an optional 650 cc two-banger? "We designed [the Volt and the ELR] to go anywhere, any time" - Pam Fletcher PF: I get that question all the time: why not something smaller? You don't really need that much. You use the electric to its ability, then you just need to limp. But we designed those cars to go anywhere, any time, and we don't want their performance to be compromised. If you're driving through the mountains, we don't want you to be crawling up grades, or to be limited on any terrain. So it's optimized to be able to travel literally the biggest grades and mountain roads around the globe at posted speeds. Because what if you can't? Another good reason: when the engine is on, you have to run it wide open throttle, max speed, most of the time. And while we can do a lot with acoustics, and the ELR has active noise cancelation, a small-displacement, low cylinder-count engine at high speed, high load all the time isn't something you want to live with. That's how we came up with the balance we did among the key factors of performance, NVH [noise, vibration and harshness] and range. ABG: Where you go from here? Is the range-extender engine due for an update? PF: We know and love the current Volt, and there is still a lot of acclaim about it, so we think it's a good recipe. But we are heavily in the midst of engineering the next-generation car, which I think everyone will love and be excited about.
Joe Flacco wins C7 Corvette along with MVP honors
Mon, 04 Feb 2013As part of a longstanding tradition, the MVP of Super Bowl XLVII, Joe Flacco, quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, was given a new car directly after the game and trophy celebrations. For 2013, that car is a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and it was presented to Flacco by Rick Flick of Banner Chevrolet, a dealership in New Orleans that was wiped out by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 before returning to prominence as the only Chevy dealer in Orleans Parish.
Last year, Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning took home a 2012 Corvette GS Centennial Edition. Manning also won in 2008, when he selected a Cadillac Escalade Hybrid as his reward. In 2011, quarterback Aaron Rodgers accepted the keys to a Camaro convertible.
Though we're most definitely an auto-obsessed group, we did watch the Big Game along with nearly everyone else in America. And we've gotta say, as if winning the Super Bowl and receiving the Tiffany-designed Pete Rozelle Trophy wasn't enough for the multi-millionaire MVP athletes, a brand-new C7 seems like an awfully generous prize.
