3 DAY AUCTION ONLY!!!!!! Up for bids is a 1980 Chevy Elcamino. If your looking to get into a decent Elcamino for a little money this is it. This car runs, shifts and drives and with minimal work it can be on the road quickly. It has a 305 with an automatic trans. The engine runs and sounds good but could stand a tune up. The trans shifts great, we run it on jack stands to try it, couldn't put it on the road as its not registered or insured. This Elcamino has a super nice body. There is some surface rust but no holes in the outer body. There is a rusty spot below the drivers side door striker, striker is solid, its just below that, never seen one do this before, an easy fix. The paint isn't to good but it wouldn't take much work to get it ready for paint or drive it as it is. Underneath this car is amazingly solid also. Floors, rockers, under the bed etc is all solid. The frame is great except for one small place on the bottom near the rear bumper mount. Its just starting on the bottom, sides and top are good and the bumper mounts fine. This is still solid nothing to worry about. Guys I have never seen an 80 model El Camino this solid. There is surface rust in places but no rot. Inside the bed is nice also. The tailgate has damage so its been taken off. You may have it with the car if youd like it. The interior needs some attention. Door panels are faded but decent condition, dash is cracked up but a hard cover would fix that and there reasonably priced. Carpet is there but faded, seat has some damage but not all ripped up, ok for a daily driver. This is a AC car with manual windows and cruise control. All the equipment is there but im sure the air needs attention to work but it is all there. Under the hood is complete as it came from the factory, nothing missing that im aware of. Wheels are plain steel and the tires are junk. Guys you can buy this, tune it up, check the brakes, add some tires and go down the road. You cannot drive this car till these things are done so to answer many questions ahead of time, no, you cant buy it and drive it home. Delivery may be possible depending on your location or I will work with your shipper. It can stay here for up to 30 days as long as its paid for according to the auction. Checkout my feedback guys as its well over 500 and all positive. You don't get great feedback like that if you lie and cheat people, I tell it like it is. rest assure your dealing with an honest ebayer. I also reserve the right to end this auction early as its for sale locally also. If you read the description carefully and look at the pics you will know exactly what youre getting. Also, checkout my other auctions as there is a nice 65 El Camino project car listed among others. Thanks for looking and good luck if you decide to bid on this great, solid El camino project car. Just a little work and you will be riding down the road!!!!!! REMEMBER THIS IS A 3 DAY AUCTION ONLY!!!!!!!

Plug In 2014: VIA makes the case for 'free' plug-in hybrid work vans, trucks
Fri, Aug 1 2014If you're a fleet manager who's been waiting anxiously for the chance to buy a plug-in hybrid van from Via Motors, your wait is almost over. If you work for the right fleet, anyway. David West, the chief marketing efficer for VIA Motors, took AutoblogGreen for a ride around the San Jose Convention Center in a Via van sporting an Electric Blue paint job as part of the Plug In 2014 Conference this week and gave us an update on how things are coming along. The big news is that the Via PHEV van production is going to start by the end of September. Via can currently build two vans an hour at its production plant in Mexico, or about 16 a day and could easily double that. "That would get us to 20,000 a year with two full lines running," West said. "We have the capacity." "There is no way gas can compete with electric." – David West, Via Motors But they can't sell that many quite yet. By the end of December, around 350 Vans will be made, mostly for a $20-million program from the Department of Energy (DOE) and the South Coast Air Quality Management District that will see the vehicles used by fleets that will report energy data to the Idaho National Lab. Via is also finishing up CARB certification for both the van and the company's plug-in hybrid pick-up truck. About 50 percent of Via's technology in the truck will not need to be tested again, since it's the same as what's in the van, but things like crash tests will need to be done twice. Despite the progress, this is not where Via hoped it would be today. The bankruptcy of battery supplier A123, "took about a year off our timeline," West said. "It's been getting a little slow getting it to market, there have been some challenges, particuarly since we had the country's worst recession right in the middle of this wrap up, but it's inevitable in my mind. There is no way gas can compete with electric." Maybe that's why FedEx has expressed an interest in buying around 5,000 units, West said. FedEx already has some pilot vehicles, just like Verizon does, and PG&E wants to replace all of their gas trucks with electric vehicles, which would be another 3,000 sales, he said. Besides the fuel savings, vehicles like these, with easy on-site power generation, could also work wonders in post-disaster situations, he said, since they could replace the need for generators.
2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible is a Swiss hit
Mon, 04 Mar 2013We've just received an early peek at the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible here at the Geneva Motor Show. General Motors was kind enough to let us attend the final dress-rehearsal for its press conference scheduled for tomorrow's opening media day, and we've come away with a good look at the droptop C7 in person.
In the metal, the new Corvette Convertible seems somehow less avant-garde than the Coupe, even in Z51 Performance Package guise. That's not necessarily a bad thing - more of an observation. That initial impression may be because the C7's new greenhouse is one of its most prominent departures from Corvettes past. While we didn't get to see the top erected, there's no rear side window in the stock images that Chevy has already released, suggesting the C7 convertible's profile will look a lot like its C6 predecessor. And with the new power tonneau cover in place, there are also no rear ducts that come as part of the Z51 package (they've been moved under the car).
As with its predecessor, the tonneau is a handsome double-bubble piece, and the body-color "waterfall" element into the cabin between the seats has made it to the new model as well. Thus, the overall look with the top down should be a bit more familiar to prior-gen C6 owners - if you're one of those put off by the C7's new shape, you'll probably appreciate the convertible bodystyle more than the coupe.
Common Dodge Ram 1500 vs. Chevrolet Silverado breakdowns
Wed, May 4 2016These two trucks are famous for their ability to get the job done. Still, even the toughest vehicle can have mechanical problems at some time. What if we match the Dodge Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado head to head? Let's find out more about common repairs for each model. Also, learn some tricks to pay for car repairs. Clunky Steering Both Dodge and the Chevy owners sometimes notice bumping and clunking when steering. This might be more noticeable when driving over bumps. The cause is usually different in each truck though. In the Dodge Ram, clunky steering is more likely due to a defective lower ball joint. Replacement costs around $300 - $400, parts and labor. Clunky Chevy Silverado steering is probably a steering rack failure. This problem appears more often in trucks with over 90,000 miles. Silverado steering rack repair will run you up to $1,000 or more. Starting Woes For the Chevy Silverado with over 130,000 miles, you might notice trouble starting. This problem may appear occasionally at first, but it typically gets worse. Excluding a weak battery, the culprit is usually the starter. Replacement will cost you around $330 - $500. Of the total cost, $90 is for labor only. Now the Dodge Ram might make a ticking sound when starting, especially on models with over 94,500 miles. The noise often disappears after the engine warms up. These symptoms may indicate a broken exhaust manifold. Repair costs range from $800 - $900. Burning Oil & Gas Gauge On The Blink Sometimes, the Dodge Ram burns oil much faster than normal. In models with over 125,000 miles, this often points towards a leaky intake manifold gasket. A knocking sound may also appear with acceleration along with possible engine misfire. The cost to repair is around $200 - $300. The Chevy Silverado has its own surprises, especially when you've filled the gas tank but the gauge still reads low. Or the needle fluctuates widely from low to full while driving. In trucks with over 120,000 miles, it's likely due to a faulty fuel sensor. You might need a full fuel pump replacement, which can cost you up to $820, parts and labor. Water Inside And Poor Heat The Ram 1500 rear window has been known to leak. You might notice the back seat and floor wet after a rainstorm. This is more common in trucks with over 65,000 miles. Resealing the Ram 1500 rear window costs around $150 - $250.
