I am offering my 1979 Chevy El Camino "Candy O". I am the proud owner of this vehicle for now 10 years! This was a FRAME OFF RESTORATION done 4 years ago. I am going to explain the detail but I could write for days so again call or e-mail with questions. Car is an original V8/Th350 automatic. I installed a 1971 Camaro 307 V8 4 years ago. The mileage on the engine at that point in time was about 55k. The guy with camaro put in 600+hp engine and had no use for original engine. This was a score for me. The engine was a virgin as they come. Rated at 9.1 Compression and 200hp it is more powerful that the typical 1980's 350 and superior over the 140hp 305's of the same time period! I installed HEI ignition as well as a 1980 Corvette Rochester 4 barell mated to an Edlebrock proformer intake backed by $1000.00 of pypes dual exhaust and ceramic headers! Going easy pushing 240 HP if not better. ZERO running issues at all. I put at least 35,000k on it since I installed the engine. The point in case is the car didn't sit around. I used it again and again! The transmission is a Th350 3 speed automatic. I had this rebuilt by a professional trans shop in NJ. MAYBE if it has 10k on it that would be a lot. The complete front end was rebuilt, all new upper/lower conrol arm bushings, springs all around, new calipers, brake drums, master cylinder. EVERY SINGLE BRAKE LINE was replaced BRAND NEW. YES EVERY LINE.... BRAND NEW (7 out of 10 G Body GM cars have time bomb brake lines ticking away waiting to explode and leave you stranded). All new flex hoses. The body was removed from the chassis and I replaced the whole chassis with a perfect rot free one! (The prior chassis was rotted in 3 places) ALL NEW BODY MOUNTS WERE INSTALLED. AM/FM CD player, speakers in box behind seat. The bottom of the car is just about new. NO HOLES IN FLOORS. NO HOLES IN BODY.Bottom of the car painted in satin black 4 years ago. The rear end was rebuilt and 3.42 gears were installed. It has massive acceleration power from a standstill. Most lazy rear ends were 2.41 2.73 in these cars. NO WIRING ISSUES WHATSOEVER. Everything works, all lights, horn, heater. It is a FACTORY STYLE NO A/C car. (included but not shown in photos is a complete A/C unit I saved from another car of same vintage as well as many other misc odd items I have hoarded away, trim, mechanical, etc- There is a street value in these items alone. All goes with car upon sale)The bed will be loaded with all extra parts for new owner to keep or sell. The paint was stripped to the bare metal and car is painted with basecoat/clear Diamont products (not cheap ). Bumpers are like new, the only defect I want to mention is some surface paint bubbles in both front corners of the doors. THE DOORS ARE NOT ROTTED! They are solid as a rock. This is common in this 78-88 G body cars as that is where moisture collects. If this is offensive to you $500 addition will correct it before you take the car. If not you take it as is. I have ZERO to hide and most would not even mention it. It's not even that bad I am honest seller and don't have time to waste by telling stories. I live in NY 10920. Car is also for local sale. Listing may end at any given time. IF you want the car come view in person if need be. If you bid on it from far away, know and understand that bid is contract. I don't want to deal with confused people who don't have the money or bid for the purpose of their entertainment. The car is well worth $10,000 if not better. My RESERVE IS NO WHERE NEAR THAT. I don't owe this car a nickel. It's been with me ten years. I am bailing out and calling it a day. FAR MORE IN IT THAT IT'S ACTUAL VALUE. Terms of sale are as follows. $500 pay pal deposit no more than 24 hours after end of auction. If you DO NOT HAVE IT, DO NOT BID. The rest cash in hand, bank check, or direct deposit. I am not going to ACCEPT PAY PAL as payment of car, if that is your intention do business elsewhere. This isn't a part, this is a vehicle. A vehicle I am giving away, so let's make this transaction quick and to the point. The full amount is due no more than 7 days after the end of auction. All non paying bidders will be reported. Please be serious and back up your bid for the fairness of others. Car is AS/IS, WHERE IS in NY 10920. Buyer is responsible for all transport fees to their home. Come pick up and drive home after paid in full. I have a CLEAN NY tittle in my name. It is the ownership of the vehicle. Do your homework.... $1500-3000 or so buys you junk. You will put more into something you buy for that price. I did all the work for you, find the money. This is worth it. I have others at a local level who dream about this so I'm just waiting on an educated cash offer and it leaves my life.... time waits for no one.... no favorites. Thanks for reading.....
On Aug-25-14 at 11:34:22 PDT, seller added the following information: YES I AM AWARE OF A FEW SPELLING ERRORS. I WAS DOING THIS FROM A CELL PHONE. I WAS SAYING CAR BEING RELISTED DUE TO FALSE BIDDER. DO NOT BID ON THE CAR UNLESS YOU HAVE THE MONEY AND ARE READY TO GO. |

GM looks to combat high theft rates on SUVs with added tech
Tue, 24 Dec 2013The Cadillac Escalade has been at or near the top of most-stolen and insurance-loss lists for more than seven years, until it dropped to number six earlier this year. In 2011 it was fitted with a host of new security features to address its easy-to-override features and that has brought the number of thefts down, but when eight of the ten most stolen rides are large SUVs from General Motors, no one will argue that something else needs to be done.
Thus, GM has fitted this same theft-deterring tech to the 2015 Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. The Suburban and Tahoe will get the steering lock that the Escalade and Yukon already get, plus bolted-down third-row seats to deter thefts like this, stronger door lock cylinders and shields, and side-cut keys to inhibit picking.
Additional security measures in a Theft Protection Package can be purchased for $395, consisting of sensors on the greenhouse glass and interior, an incline/tilt sensor and added "key control systems" to make it more difficult for the men in black balaclavas to steal what you bought.
Chevy shows much-improved 2014 Corvette interior in new video
Mon, 11 Feb 2013If you want a closer look at what went into designing and building the interior for the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, we've got just the thing. General Motors has released a new video detailing the cabin's evolution from conception to execution, complete with commentary from Ryan Vaughn, performance car interior design manager with Chevrolet. The quick clip details how manufacturing, engineering and design within General Motors worked together from the first sketches to ensure no compromises had to be made later down the line. How novel.
With plenty of hides traced with contrast stitching and available real carbon fiber trim, the cabin looks to be a few hundred miles ahead of the C6. Given how readily critics derided the previous generation for its cabin, the C7 should make writers work a little harder to find something to complain about. Check out the video below for yourself.
GM is the latest automaker accused of diesel emissions cheating
Thu, May 25 2017Volkswagen and Ram need to make room on the diesel-emissions bench for General Motors. America's largest automaker was accused in a lawsuit on Thursday of rigging hundreds of thousands of diesel trucks with at least three so-called defeat devices to ensure that the trucks would meet federal and state emission standards, even if they generated more pollution in real-world driving. According to the complaint, on-road emissions testing conducted for the plaintiffs found that Duramax-equipped trucks produced NOx pollutants, comprised of nitrogen and oxygen atoms, two to five times higher than legally permitted, and "many times" higher than their gasoline counterparts. The proposed class-action lawsuit was filed in federal court in Detroit on behalf of people who own or lease more than 705,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks fitted with "Duramax" engines from 2011 to 2016 model years. The lawsuit seeks remedies including possible refunds or restitution for lost vehicle value, plus punitive damages. It adds to legal problems for Detroit-based GM, which has already paid about $2.5 billion in penalties and settlements over faulty ignition switches linked to 124 deaths. GM joins at least five automakers whose diesel emissions have been scrutinized by regulators or consumers. They include VW, which has admitted to cheating; Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler; Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Peugeot and Renault. GM spokesman Dan Flores called the claims "baseless," and said the trucks comply with US Environmental Protection Agency emissions standards and California's own tough standards. Shares of GM were down 69 cents, or 2.1 percent, at $32.50 in afternoon trading, after earlier falling to $31.93. The GM lawsuit was filed by several law firms, including Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro, which helped reach multibillion-dollar settlements with VW on behalf of drivers and dealers. The case is Fenner et al v General Motors LLC et al, US District Court, Eastern District of Michigan, No. 17-11661. The named plaintiffs are Andrei Fenner of Mountain View, California and Joshua Herman of Sulphur, Louisiana. They said they would not have bought their respective 2011 Sierra and 2016 Silverado trucks, or would have paid less for them, had they known about the alleged rigging. Joseph Spak, an RBC Capital Markets analyst, in a research report said "negative publicity" from the lawsuit could drive buyers to trucks from Ford or even Fiat Chrysler's Ram.
