Benton, Arkansas, United States
FIRST OF ALL, THIS WAS NOT A GOOD DAY FOR PHOTOS, AS THE SUN WAS SHINING VERY BRIGHT, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SHOW TRUE COLORS AND DETAILS OF THESE CARS AND TRUCKS. I HAVE A LOT OF VEHICLES FOR SALE, SO IF YOU SEE SOMETHING YOU LIKE, CALL ME AND LET'S TALK ABOUT IT, SEE MY OTHER AUCTIONS FOR MORE GREAT VEHICLES. NOW ABOUT THIS VEHICLE: THIS IS A 1972 CHEVROLET EL CAMINO WITH 350 V8, 350 TURBO TRANSMISSION, POWER STEERING AND FACTORY AIR CONDITIONER. IT IS A GOOD DRIVING EL CAMINO THAT YOU COULD PUT A FRESH PAINT JOB ON AT ANY TIME. IF I WERE TO PICK ON MY OWN CAR I WOULD TELL YOU IT HAS MINOR DENTS AND VERY LITTLE RUST, THEY DID DO SOME WORK ON THE FLOORS, IF YOU LOOK UNDERNEATH I WOULD MERELY SAY THEY COULD HAVE DONE A MUCH NEATER JOB ON THE FLOORS, BUT NO BIG DEAL, THAT IS JUST ME. THE AIR CONDITIONER WORKS, BUT HAS A WEAK O RING BECAUSE IT WILL LEAK OUT FREON. BUT FOR A BUYER WHO WANTS TO DRIVE IT HOME, I WOULD ADD GAS AND GO. GOOD LUCK BIDDING GUYS, I THINK YOU WOULD BE PROUD TO OWN IT. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SELL THIS VEHICLE LOCALLY, OR SELL IT ANYTIME AND MAY END THE AUCTION IF THE TRUCK SELLS. I HAVE SET THE RESERVE AT A REASONABLE PRICE TO PROTECT MY INTEREST. Race Recap: 2013 Twelve Hours of Sebring, cakewalk up front, grindfest out back [w/spoilers]
Tue, 19 Mar 2013This year's 12 Hours of Sebring wasn't exactly a foregone conclusion because we're still talking about racing, and anything can happen when the speeds are as high as the adrenaline and the desire. But we're still talking about Audi bringing it's two top-spec racers - and its huge budget and its nearly neurotic attention to detail - to a race that it uses as a test bed for The 24 Hours of Le Mans and as a way to open the endurance racing season with a victory.
Besides, 12 hours is a long time, especially at Sebring, and things didn't go all Audi's way. On top of that, although it was a pretty quiet race, behind the Audis things got even grimier, with plenty of battles, plenty of mechanical issues, and the new BMW Z4 GTE and Viper GTS-R being race tested. Oh, and that brand new chromed-out DeltaWing...
2015 Chevrolet Cruze spied on its home turf
Tue, 23 Apr 2013The next Chevrolet Cruze isn't set to go into production for about another year, and we're just now seeing prototypes of the new compact running around here in the States. Not much more has been revealed since we saw the car blasting through the snow in Europe, but we can still clearly see new design elements like the larger grille, slimmer headlamps and redesigned taillamps.
Our spy photographers worked up a composite image of this Cruze prototype alongside the current model, and here, we can clearly see some big visual changes are in store for the new model. The 2015 Cruze's hood slopes downward more dramatically, the windshield is more heavily raked, and the roofline looks more fluid overall. The next-generation Cruze will ride on the new global Delta platform that will also underpin other General Motors vehicles like the Chevrolet Volt and Equinox.
As for what's under the hood, we expect the normal range of gasoline four-cylinder engines (both naturally aspirated and turbocharged), and the compact's new turbodiesel four should carry over, as well. Have a look at the full brace of spy photos in the gallery above.
First-edition Detroit muscle raises millions for charity at Barrett-Jackson
Mon, Jan 19 2015Amidst all the classic metal crossing the auction block each year in Scottsdale, AZ, Detroit automakers have a tradition of donating the first examples of their most enticing new muscle cars, with the proceeds of their sales going towards worthwhile charities. This year, Barrett-Jackson handled three noteworthy examples. The highest price among them was the first Ford Shelby GT350R Mustang with the VIN #001, which raised $1 million for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. General Motors donated the first new Chevy Corvette Z06 Convertible, the first retail example of the droptop supercar garnering $800,000 for the United Way. Along with the Z06, GM also donated the first new 2016 Cadillac CTS-V sedan, which brought in $170,000 for Detroit's College for Creative Studies. Although these were the headline Motown muscle machines furnished by the automakers themselves, they weren't the only vehicles auctioned off for worthy causes. A 1950 GM Futurliner bus donated by collector Ron Pratte led the charge when it brought in $4.65 million for the Armed Forces Foundation. Other lots included a custom Jeep Wrangler donated by SEMA ($85k), a new M5 donated by BMW ($800k), a '79 Oldsmobile Cutlass Hurst ($140k), '39 Cadillac LaSalle C-Hawk ($410k), Jeff Gordon's 1999 NASCAR-spec Chevy Monte Carlo ($500k) and a Victory Cross Country 8-Ball motorcycle ($180k). All told, the charity lots raised over $8.7 million for local and national charities.
