Up for sale is a beautiful 1967 Chevrolet El Camino. I got this car last year and have decided to sell it to get some capital for a business I am starting (also selling an awesome Honda CB750 for the same reason if you’re interested). That is why this beautiful car is up here with NO RESERVE. I really wanted this car as a long-term driver/project, as it is my favorite year of El Camino, but I am going to have to wait.

Link here is to a video of the car

1967 El Camino 396

The El Camino is in perfect shape to be a useable project car. It runs strong and feels great to drive. After its warmed up car fires right up on the first try and the transmission feels tight and shifts clean. Power steering is working well, the steering wheel is easy to turn even when stopped or moving slowly. The things I have personally added to this great elco are the brand new caps and beauty rings on the Chevy rally wheels (from Original Parts Group). Car has 15 inch rally wheels in the back and 14 inchers in the front to give it a more aggressive stance and the correct sizes of caps and rings for both sizes. Brand new headlight bezels and trim in the front on the sides of the grill.

Car is the original color for its paint code “RR”, which is Bolero Red, one of the most desirable colors for Chevelles and El Caminos of this era. As you can see in the pictures paint looks absolutely amazing. Some of the areas inside the bed have started to crack with age, but the car is still a total stunner and gets attention everywhere on the road.

Interior is black with a leather bench seat, which is in good condition with few nicks and tears (see pictures). Black headliner is nearly perfect with no sags or rips. The black carpet does not have rips, but has started to fade from age/sun and is kind of brown in some areas.

Car is an original 396. I am not sure if the engine in it now is the original, but it is definitely a big block. According to the previous owner it was rebuilt 10,000 miles before he sold it to me. (I’ve put a couple thousand on it since I bought it last year.) It runs strong and sounds completely beastly. Has a stock carb and still has enough speed to scare yourself.

Transmission is a turbo 400 and feels clean when it shifts, no lag etc. I had the steering column totally rebuilt less than 100 miles ago so it does not feel sloppy when you’re shifting from park as most old automatics tend to feel.

Bottom of bed has bed liner in it to keep away the bed rust El Caminos are so infamous for, but it looks awesome as well. The black against the red really pops

The issues I would love to fix on the car are that it leaks oil, not sure from where, but for your driveways sake you will probably eventually want to get that fixed. It is not enough to affect the cars drive ability but it will leave stains when parked. Also the car needs some electrical work, as the taillights, gas gauge, dash lights and high beams do not work. Low beam headlights work well and selector switch (by your feet to switch between high and low beams) works fine. This wasn’t an issue for me as I have another car and only drove the El Camino around during the day, but it will at some point need to be addressed. The previous owner installed a kill switch that is actually pretty cool. It is under the dash and the car will not start without the switch being on. Probably the most clever theft deterrent I have ever seen. However, I think that it may be the culprit on the electrical issues, it has never caused the car to stall or malfunction, it’s just a hunch. It seems to me a new wiring harness would quickly fix all of the issues at once, but I have simply run out of time to install one myself.

Car has a Kenwood Stereo with CD and AUX input, Two Kenwood speakers in the back behind the seats. It’s not currently hooked up to power because I disconnected it trying to hunt down the taillight/dashlight problem, but speakers and antenna are wired to it and stereo works great

Has gas-a-just adjustable shocks in the rear to increase or decrease the height of the rear.

This El Camino is all around a great car and would be a great addition to a classic car collection or a first step into classic muscle cars. The ‘67 just hzas so much personality and this car is no exception.

Feel free to email me with questions about it. If you are in the southern California area I encourage you to come by and see it in person, you will not be disappointed.

Camaro-based Trans Am SE Bandit Edition borrows Burt Reynolds

Tue, Mar 29 2016

For some reason, modifying modern Chevrolet Camaros into the lurching, reincarnated shells of the Pontiac brand is still a thing. If you're the perverse sort that likes this kind of thing, you should check out the latest product from the Trans Am Depot, which comes complete with an endorsement from the star of Smokey and the Bandit, Burt Reynolds. Yes, the new Trans Am SE Bandit Edition has been signed and endorsed by the man himself, but what's important here is not the signature on the dash, it's the bits of Camaro that have been modified. Aesthetically, that means a Bandit-and-Frog-approved set of T-tops, a front-opening hood with a very large, prominent shaker scoop, an equally large and prominent screaming chicken, and Trans Am-inspired front and rear fascias. And naturally, Burt Reynolds' signature adorns the dash. There are plenty of reminders in the cabin about this car's Hollywood inspiration, too. Bandit decals can be found on the front headrests and center console lid, there are chicken wings on the Camaro-spec plastic door inserts, and the black-and-tan color scheme matches nicely with the exterior look. And power? Well, Sheriff Buford T. Justice would have a lot more trouble keeping up with this Trans Am than he did with the original. The 7.4-liter LSX V8 has been paired with a 2.9-liter supercharger which is good for 840 horsepower. It's fast and loud, and even if you can't get behind the look (we can't), at least this Camaro-in-Trans Am's clothing can impress with its performance. The Bandit Edition is limited to just 77 units with prices starting around $115,000. You can check out the official video from Trans Am Depot, which comes with a decent helping of Burt Reynolds, up top. Related Video:

GM files to trademark name Badlands

Mon, Feb 23 2015

If you've been hoping for General Motors to come out swinging at the Ford F-150 Raptor, we've had some tantalizing news for you of late. Last month we brought you a report that indicated GM has trademarked the name "Z71 Trail Boss," suggesting a potential hardcore off-roader. Now it seems the General has filed for a potentially even better name. That name, as our friends over at GM Authority have discovered, is "Badlands." The application, filed on February 16, indicates that it's for a truck, but of course it doesn't specify just what form it would take... or for that matter, under which division it would fall. So we could, in theory, be looking at the nameplate for a Raptor rival from Chevy or GMC (like the 2011 Sierra All Terrain HD concept pictured here), or for some other trim level, a concept truck, a special edition... just about anything. Heck, it could be for a Vauxhall, Opel or Holden for all we know at this point. Or GM could choose not to use it on anything at all, but here's hoping it'll emerge as something awesome in US showrooms sometime soon. Next Chevrolet Malibu to have 'groundbreaking,' 'passionate' design

Mon, Dec 29 2014

In our First Drive of the Chevrolet Malibu after its redesign in 2013 we wrote, "Chevy has quickly worked up a host of changes for its ever-important midsize sedan, and will be launching this 'there, we fixed it' 2014 Malibu like it's an all-new product." Still, no one cared. The Malibu has been mentioned in eight posts this year, all but two of them dealt with recalls, and one of those two was about a 2011 Malibu university science project. It came up in precisely zero posts from November 2013 to March 2014. That's why, according to a report in Automotive News, Chevrolet honchos are "hustling" to have a new Malibu ready in a year. Mark Reuss, General Motors' head of global product development, said it will have "groundbreaking design" and "groundbreaking technology," and asked investors who were showed a picture of it, "When is the last time you saw a [midsize] car this distinctive and this dramatic from General Motors?" Doubling down on the bullishness, Reuss said, "We've got our act together here on the midsize-car segment." Then, throwing every last chip on the pile, global design head Ed Welburn said the next Malibu's design will "make a significant statement" with "a very passionate design." Based on the number of comments Malibu posts get, we figure a fair few number of you would love for this to be the case; yet this is a lot of braggadocio to slather on a car that probably hasn't made "a significant statement" since Elton John had a number one record with Honky Chateau. That was 1972, if you're trying to remember. No matter the looks, the AN report says the new 'Bu will make a profit statement, selling for more money while costing less to produce. Alongside the Cruze, GM figures the pair will bring in an extra $800 million in variable profit in 2016. Which, in case it ends up being another 'butterface,' isn't bad for a silver lining.
