Here is a low mileage 1984 Corvette. I have good tires (only 3000) on them and no burnouts on them, I have replaced the plugs and wires, air filter fuel pump, brake booster and master cyl, larger radiator, ignition module,outer window seals, heater control valve, seat covers, floor mats, fuel pump within the last 8 months. I had the A/C switched from R-12 to the 134A. It has the fiberglass top. All the lcd gauges work. I drive this car everyday. Cruise control works, lights roll properly. I believe it has the Z51 package as the rear wheels are 1 inch wider than the front ( the options sticker was gone when I bought the car). The paint is PPG and the white stripe and hash marks are painted-not vynil graphics. there is slight bubbling on the driver side rear quarter but you have to be within 5 feet or so to notice. there are a couple of wear marks in the rear mat by the storage compartments. It could use a new rear window seal BUT DOES NOT LEAK and we get some real down pours in Florida. The wipers work but does not intermit. I have driven this car from north Florida to south Florida several times but mostly to work and back. This is a great car and love it but I have too many toys and just picked up a 65 mustang project and no room. Ask any questions and I will answer the best I can. This car is painted Ferrari Rosso Corsa red (code 322). The mileage will go up a little as I drive it about 25 miles a day to work and back.If i think of anything else I will add it later. Why the Corvette's Performance Data Recorder can be illegal in some states
Fri, 26 Sep 2014The Performance Data Recorder with Valet Mode available on the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray seems like a fantastic tool for many owners. Whether they are taking 720p video while lapping the track in their new 'Vette, or just want to protect their purchase from inconsiderate joyriders, the system offers a lot of functionality in one package. However, one of the PDR's features might get buyers in trouble with the law, and it has nothing to do with recording some illicit high-speed driving on a favorite back road. The problem hinges on the various state laws concerning a person's right to privacy.
According to a letter posted by Jalopnik, Chevy dealers are asking 2015 Corvette owners not to use the Valet Mode portion of the PDR because it records audio in the cabin, in addition to performance specs. That's a problem because privacy laws vary from state to state with some requiring just one side's consent to tape sound and others requiring all parties to agree. According Jalopnik, 15 states mandate everyone's permission beforehand, but it's not clear whether these numbers are up to date. (Actually, the report varies, saying 13 states in some places and 15 in a list.)
According to the letter, Chevy is already working on a software update for the near future to rectify the issue. It's possible that simply adding a warning to drivers and the ability to turn off the audio recording function in Valet Mode might solve the problem. Obviously, this doesn't preclude Corvette drivers from using the performance aspect of the PDR, and owners are free tape lap after lap at the track.
Some 2012-13 Chevy Volts may not have enough battery coolant
Mon, Jun 23 2014The 2012 and 2013 model year Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in vehicle may have a battery glitch caused by low coolant levels. No recall has been issued and General Motors is taking care of the issue at no cost to drivers. Some of the affected Volts may have lower-than-advisable coolant levels because of some pesky air pockets in the car's cooling circuit. When the coolant levels get too low, the charging system for the battery powering the car's onboard generator (i.e. the Rechargeable Energy Storage System, or the RESS) may be shut down, turning one's Volt into a run-of-the-mill gas-powered car, and a pricey one at that. The Car Connection says GM is advising owners of the '12 and '13 Volts to contact their local Chevy dealer for a free fix. GM representatives didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from AutoblogGreen for more details. We believe this is a separate issue than the one that brought 8,000 Volts back to the dealers for a battery coolant fix, what GM called a "voluntary customer satisfaction effort," a few years ago. General Motors sold 23,094 Chevy Volts last year after selling 23,461 Volts in 2012, so that fix-it list may get fairly lengthy. Check out a GM-Volt.com user thread related to this issue here. *UPDATE: Chevrolet spokesman Randy Fox confirmed in an e-mail to AutoblogGreen that the company issued a service bulletin to dealers that they may need to top off coolant levels on certain Volts because of the issue, and that the vehicle will "return to normal charging operation" once that's done.
