This listing is for a Black 1999 2 Door Corvette Convertible C-5 Automatic 5.7L 4 Speed V8 350ci 345HP with 106,590 Miles.

The current owner's late husband who was an auto body worker who past away not long ago. His wife has decided to have me sell this car for her. No one has driven this car regularly since April of 2012 but the car has been regularly started and run and is still in great condition.

This Corvette convertible is loaded!
The previous owner removed all of the panels and professionally repainted this car back to black piece by piece in 2006. The body is in excellent condition. There is only one really notable scratch, behind the drivers side door handle, which is not a very big scratch. This car has been garage kept and still looks great. Compared to a factory black mustang with the same mileage I would say the body is in excellent overall condition, with a newer custom paint job(still the original factory color) with minor micro-scratches that when waxed are virtually unnoticeable.

The specs on the engine and transmission are that this is a 350 Cubic Inch 5.7 Liter 4 Speed with 345 Horsepower and it can be very fast, very quick. This car can go zero to 50 in about 3-4 seconds.

The 1999 Corvette Convertible was the second and last year that the fifth generation Corvette was released with retractable headlights.

This car has aftermarket wheels and a Cat Back exhaust system. The gear ratio on the rear axle is 3:15. This Corvette has a Z-51 Suspension Package and has the Bose speaker system option with a factory radio/cd player.

The tires on this car were recently installed and in new condition. PLEASE NOTE: This car does not have a spare tire or emergency jack.

This two owner Corvette has never been in an accident and has been properly maintained with regular oil changes, tune-ups, tire rotations, lights, fluids, and normal vehicle maintenance upkeep.

I recently drove this Corvette so that I could help list this vehicle more accurately. The battery was dead when I got there, but we hooked a battery charger up to it and it started right up and a few hours later when I went to take pictures the car started right back up without any issues.

This Corvette drives great! The suspension and front end are tight and well aligned. The engine has great compression and an abundance of Horsepower. When you drive it, the belt tension(tensioner) pulley chirps a little bit. This may be due to the age of the bearings in the pulley getting worn out, but the Pulley doesn't squeal or squeak... it is simply a chirp sound, like maybe it could used some lubricant. Regardless, it is a minor issue for a car or it's age and otherwise the car preforms greatly.

The engine and transmission have not had any repairs or damages and are perfectly functioning with plenty of torque, ample horsepower and smooth shifting.

The interior of the car is black with leather automatic power bucket seats. The drivers side seat has 3 small tears in the leather from the normal use in the lifetime of the drivers seat, but the seat is still comfortable and functional.

The door locks and windows are also automatic powered locks and windows....

The convertible's latches work smoothly for the soft top which works properly and drops or pops quickly with ease.

Here are some specs on the some of the options of the car that I may have overlooked when typing this listing.

Bose Speaker option
CD player

Airbags on both drivers and passengers sides.

Bob Lutz says Tesla remains 'fringe' brand

Sun, Sep 28 2014

We've said it before, we'll said it again: Bob Lutz gives great quotes. From his toilet-themed opinion of global warming to Toyota's deity status, the man knows how to get your attention. His latest? Saying that Tesla Motors is and will remain a fringe brand. Take that, Tesla fanbois. This, of course, is the same fringe company that prompted Lutz and his former colleagues at General Motors to start working on the Chevy Volt around eight years ago. The same fringe company that has easily outsold the similarly priced (but don't call it a competitor) Cadillac ELR with its Model S. Lutz did clarify that the fringe status will only last until Tesla comes out with a mass-market electric vehicle that has a range of 200 to 300 miles. Lutz was on CNBC talking about the TSLA stock's recent performance, and he pointed out that even Tesla CEO Elon Musk says that the California automaker's stock is overvalued these days. Despite its prevalence around these parts, Tesla is not yet a household brand. But the company is working hard to get a cheaper, long-range EV to market in the not-too-distant future, so this fringe thing may not last much longer than that show Fringe did. Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

GM program sees dealers taking on way more loaner cars

Wed, Dec 17 2014

Given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. Bring your car into the dealership for service, and you may need a loaner car in exchange. And with so many recalls being carried out, that means a lot of loaners – especially at General Motors dealerships. That could be one of the reasons why GM is massively expanding its loaner fleet program. While many Chevrolet and Buick-GMC dealerships have an on-site rental car location operated by a third party like Enterprise (which may or may not provide a GM vehicle), others manage their own loaner fleets. But while the range of dealerships operating such fleets was once small, reports Automotive News, the number has been growing rapidly: from the locations responsible for only 20 percent of those brands' sales two years ago to about 90 percent today. The impetus for that growth comes down to a massive expansion of GM's Courtesy Transportation Program. The initiative encourages dealers to ramp up their loaner fleet to a maximum size determined by GM, with a mix determined by the dealer itself, so that a showroom in Texas can be bolstered with a fleet of pickup trucks and a dealer in California can employ more Volt and Camaro Convertible loaners. The dealership gets a $500 credit for each vehicle its puts in its fleet, and can use those vehicles as loaners for service customers, as multi-day test drivers or to rent out separately. The vehicles remain in the dealer's fleet for 90 days or 7,500 miles, then they can be sold as used, but with new-car incentives. The dealer gets a fleet of loaners, customers get to use the loaners, try out a new car overnight or buy a barely used car with attractive incentives, and GM gets to clock more sales. But therein lies the kicker: the automaker counts the dispatch of the loaner new vehicle to the dealership as a new-car sale, which could end up distorting its sales figures. Counting loaner vehicles as sold vehicles is something of an industry-standard practice, but given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. One dealership - Paddock Chevrolet in Kenmore, NY, for example - had no loaner fleet two years ago, but now runs a fleet of 50 vehicles. Multiply that by the 4,000 or so dealers GM has across America and you're talking about the potential for hundreds of thousands of these sorts of sales.
