GREAT CONDITION OVERALL. 350, 300 H.P. 6 SPEED, NEW!!!!! -- CLUTCH - HEATERCORE - TIRES - TUNE UP WITH K&N FILTER - OPTI-SPARK DISTRIBUTOR - AND MOBIL ONE OIL - CAR MATS AND REAR LINER WITH LOGO - DASH CARPET ( NOT REALLY INSTALLED, JUST SITS ON DASH ) WEATHER STRIPPING KIT ( IN PLASTIC- NOT INSTALLED ) THE WEATHSTRIPPING ON THE CAR IS ORIGINAL AND WASNT IN BAD SHAPE BUT COULD OF USED SOME NEW PIECES SO THE PREVIOUS OWNER BOUGHT THE WHOLE KIT AND GAVE IT TO ME, I DIDNT INSTALL IT. BUT THE CAR NEVER LEAKED ANYTHING TO THE INSIDE. THE CAR ALSO DOESNT LEAK ANY FLUIDS UNDERNEATH. I PARK IT IN MY GARAGE AND THERES A CARPET UNDERNEATH IT ANDS ITS CLEAN. THE FRONT OF THE CAR CONTAINS THE USUALLY SCATCHES AND SCUFFS FROM A LOW FRONT END CAR AND THE SAW BLADE RIMS ARE DECENT WITH THE CLEARCOAT WEAR ON THEM BUT ARE EASILY RESTORED TO NEW! IF YOU WANT TO STRIP THE CLEAR AND SAND THEM A FEW TIMES AND RE-CLEAR! SEEEN IT ON YOUTUBE. FRONT TIRES WERE NEW FROM PREVIOU.S OWNER AND I PUT THE REAR TIRES ON WHEN I GOT IT. THERE IS LESS THAN 300 MILES ON THE TIRES/OIL/TUNE-UP/HEATERCORE. PREVIOUS OWNER DID CLUTCH WITHIN THE LAST 6-7 MONTHS, HEAD LIGHTS FLIP UP QUICKLY AND WORK AS THEY SHOULD, IT DOES HAVE A NICE SOUNDING BOSE SYSTEM BUT THE CD PLAYER DOESNT PLAY. TYPICAL BOSE PROBLEM. I USE A CASSETTE ADAPTER THING FROM RADIO SHACK AND PLAY MY MP3 PLAYER THRU IT. RADIO WORKS FINE. EXHAUST ELIMINATORS WERE PUT ON THE CAR RIGHT BEFORE I BOUGHT IT. SO IT SOUNDS MUCH BETTER THAN STOCK. I HAVE THE STOCK EXHAUST SYSTEM. THE INTERIOR IS GRAY CLOTH CARPET AND LEATHER SEAT WITH BLACK CAR MATS AND BLACK REAR LINER, SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT I HAD 2 LIGHTS POP UP ON THE DASH WARNING AREA. 1. LOW OIL: THERE IS A SENSOR FOR THE OIL LEVEL AND I WAS TOLD IT IS FAULTY, IT CAME ON A WEEK AFTER DOING AN OIL CHANGE. IT COMES ON AT START UP BUT WHEN GO SHUT THE CAR OFF AND AND RESTART IT IT GOES AWAY. MAYBE IT JUST NEEDS A CHANCE TO SENSE THE OIL IN THE CAR AND IS SLUGGISH IN DOING SO. IT ALWAYS GOES BACK OUT. 2. SERVICE ENGINE SOON CAME ON ONLY ONCE - A GUY FROM THE CHEVY FORUM TOLD ME TO OPEN THE GAS CAP AND RELEASE VAPOR PRESSURE AND IT WENT OUT. I HAD JUST ADDED A FUEL INJECOTOR CLEANER ( CHEVRON -TECHRON ) SO IT MUST HAVE MESSED WITH THE GAS TO CREATE A LITTLE EXTRA PRESSURE? DONT KNOW, THAT LIGHT WENT OUT. AND THATS PRETTY MUCH IT I GUESS. I GET COMPLIMENTS ON THE CAR SO I KNOW ITS NICE. I HAVE A HAD PLENTY OF TRADE OFFERS LOCALLY FOR HARLEYS AND CUSTOM BIKES AND HAD 2 DECENT CASH OFFERS BUT DIDNT TAKE THEM AT THE TIME. THE ABSOLUTE ONLY REASON FOR THE SELLING THE CAR, AS I HAVE ONLY HAD IT FOR A FEW MONTHS, IS THAT MY JOB HAS TAKEN ALL OF THE EMPLOYEES OVERTIME AWAY AND I WAS GETTING 10 HOURS WEEKLY. THATS WHY I BOUGHT THE SECOND CAR I REALLY DIDNT NEED. SO ITS ALL FINANCIAL STUFF RIGHT NOW. THE CARS RUNS GREAT/SOUNDS GREAT/ AND LOOKS GREAT FOR THE YEAR. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK ME ANYTHING ELSE AND I WILL POST WHAT I HAVE FOR PICS. IF YOU WANT ADDITIONAL PICS I CAN SEND THEM TO YOUR EMAIL. I CANT SEND PICS WITH MY PHONE SO DONT BOTHER SENDING ME YOUR CELL #. THANKS FOR LOOKING.

More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.

Junkyard Gem: 1986 Chevrolet Sprint Plus

Fri, Jun 16 2023

General Motors sold second- and third-generation Suzuki Cultuses with Geo or Chevrolet Metro badging in the United States from 1989 through 2001 model years, and we've all seen plenty of those cars on the street over the years. The first-generation Cultus was sold here as well, with Chevrolet Sprint badges, and I've found a rare example of the Sprint five-door hatchback in a Northern California car graveyard. The Chevy Sprint first appeared on the West Coast as a 1985 model, then became available everywhere in the United States for the 1986 through 1988 model years (in Canada, it was sold as the Pontiac Firefly). It was available here as a hatchback with three or five doors; for 1986 only, the five-door was badged as the Sprint Plus. Soon enough, The General would be selling many more Asian-built cars with Detroit badges here. Isuzu I-Marks were sold as Chevrolet/Geo Spectrums starting in the 1986 model year, while Daewoo provided the Pontiac LeMans two years later. Under the hood, a 1.0-liter three-cylinder rated at 48 horsepower. The five-door Sprint cost $5,580 in 1986, which was $200 more than the three-door (those prices would be $15,445 and $14,891 in 2023 dollars). I've documented seven discarded Sprints prior to this one (including an extremely rare Turbo Sprint), and all of them were three-doors; we can assume that price was the most important factor for Sprint buyers. Gasoline prices were crashing hard during the middle 1980s, but memories of gas lines and odd-even-day fuel rationing from 1979 remained strong. What cars competed with the '86 Sprint on sticker price? Well, there was no way to undercut the hilariously affordable (and terrible) Yugo GV, which cost $3,990. The much bigger (but still pretty bad) Hyundai Excel listed at $4,995, while Toyota would sell you a sturdy (but zero-fun) Tercel starting at $5,448. Even the wretched Chevy Chevette — yes, it was still available in 1986 — cost $5,645. The original buyer of this car was willing to shell out an extra $395 to get an automatic instead of the base five-speed manual. That's about $1,093 in today's money. This car must have been slow. By the end, the doors were held shut with duct tape, but it still stayed alive until age 37. 53 miles per gallon on the highway! It does everything. The camels of the highway.

The Tesla Model S was the best-selling EV of 2015

Thu, Jan 14 2016

According to numbers crunched over at Hybrid Cars, the Tesla Model S was the best selling pure electric vehicle last year with 50,366 deliveries. These numbers might not tell the whole story, since Tesla reports deliveries made in 2015 that might have been sold in a different calendar year, while other makers are tallying sales. However, it's inarguable that the Model S ended up in more worldwide driveways than the second-place Nissan Leaf, which did about 43,000 sales. In the US alone, Leaf sales were down 42.8 percent year-on-year, from 30,200 in 2014 to 17,269 last year, and that decline also increased throughout the year. That marks a great finish to a great start to 2015, when Tesla took the lead in EV sales in the US for the first quarter. On top of that, as of last year the Model S becomes the second-best selling EV ever, with 107,148 deliveries since the middle of 2012. It trails the Nissan Leaf, with well over 200,000 worldwide sales. The Chevrolet Volt/Opel Ampera combo takes a close third, with about 106,000 sales. The Nissan and Chevy rivals both launched at the end of 2010, a 16-month head start on the Tesla. Down the charts, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV which continues to be forbidden fruit for our market notched 39,000 sales. The BYD Qin PHEV sold 31,898 examples in China, and BYD would take the overall victory from Tesla with 58,728 deliveries if you counted all of its EV and PHEV production, such as its electric buses. The BMW i3 nabbed fourth place with 24,057 global sales. In 2011 the Munich automaker said it wanted to sell 30,000 i3s annually by 2014, but by the time the car launched the company considered 15,000 annual sales 'great for now,' so the 2015 number seems a fine place to wind up.
